"Great staying at Don Boutique"
We loved this hotel! The hotel is in the old part of the city, so honestly when the taxi driver left us infront, I was slightly concerned, but when we entered and cheked-in I was really happy that I booked at this hotel. The hotel itself must be quite new, wooden ground, marble stairs and a lovely smell throuhg out the hotel. We had the room in the 1st floor, and we actually had a terase! The room was clean, spacious, bad was comfortable, towels and sheets were soft, and changed every day if we wanted. I really liked the layout of the room itself and also the bathroom… I appreciated the fact that almost everybody from the staff we met, spoke english and we could actually get some good info, especially at the reception they were great – we checked in 2h before with no charge, they helped us book a trip to Punta del Este, called us a taxi to the airport… they were great. The breakfast is »a la carte« - when you come, they offer you freshly squeezed juice and coffee. Then they also bring you a plate with some toast, marmalade, cheese, salami. If you want you can order other things, like eggs or panckages, or you can just have some cheerios… whatever you want. The most awesome thing is definitely the terrace on the roof with the swimming pool – loved it! On the 3rd floor you can go to the terrace, where are comfortable loungers with towels. Water in the swimming pool was a bit cold, as it was still spring, but we could still take a swim. I would most definitely recommend this hotel to anybody who will visit Montevideo, as it is a great hotel, the price is fair and staying there makes the travel mora comfortable.
We were upgraded to a suite( room 21)and the room was wonderful.Large, clean with a spacious bathroom and a jacuzzi tub.On the same floor you have the pool and I spent a very pleasant hour there. The staff was awesome. Mauro, at the reception gave us so much information about the city. He was pleasant, knowledgeable, with impeccable English. Nathalia, the next day was also very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in front of Mercado del Puerto s during the day there is no other place you would like to be more. At night, no so much what to do, but the taxis are cheap.
"Excellent choice in Montevideo"
My first time in Don Boutique Hotel. It is a discreet art-decó building located in front of the Port Market (Mercado del Puerto), where you can find many restaurants and shops. It is a walking distance of the center of Montevideo, through a nice pedestrian boulevard. The area is deserted at night, but during the day is very animated. The hotel looks brand new. It is very nicely designed and the staff is quite friendly, welcoming and helpful. Rooms are spacious and nice. Internet speed is very good. Two things I didn't like: breakfast (announced as "buffet", but in reality is à la carte, but there is no menu, so you don't know what do they have) and it can get very noisy with shutting doors during the night (meaning isolation is not good). However, I would recommend the place.
"Everything Worked for Us"
Our experience with the hotel began when we were picked up at the airport in the middle of the night by a service arranged by the hotel. We were delighted by our first sight of this brightly lit art deco hotel and by the warm welcome from the English-speaking staff. Our rooms carried out the design theme and in the morning, we saw that both of our ground-floor rooms had a deck and a garden area. From this excellent location, we easily walked to museums, shops and busy plazas. The atmospheric Mercado, with many restaurants, is across the street. We chose the hotel’s restaurant there the first night and were so happy, we went back every night. Breakfast at the hotel was very satisfying--toast, cold cuts, eggs made to order, treats, etc.—and served in a sunny room. We met several staff members at the front desk as we stayed several days and all were English-speaking and very helpful. For example, one called the bus station to book tickets to Colonia and, when time, called a cab and instructed the driver where to take us.
Great place to stay, in the old town of Montevideo in front of the Market with great places around, from there you can walk to downtown City or take a cab to the Ramblas . Nice staff, good rooms. The Oldtown of Montevideo is getting refurbished and is safe to walk even at night!
