"Nice Hotel near San Marco"
We were pleasantly surprised at the large room, as most European rooms tend to be quite small. There really wasn't a view, because the hotel sits off of one of the smaller canals. Breakfast was not the best and they only have tables for 2. Don't try and move 2 tables together, so you can sit as a group or the waitstaff gets quite upset. This was really the only drawback to the hotel. Otherwise it was a great stay in Venice and we were within walking distance of many great shops and eating establishments.
"Great Place to Stay"
Just finished our stay and we are very happy with this hotel. Wi-fi was free and worked well in our room. There was a great variety of foods for the free breakfast. As previous reviewers have advised the hotel is hard to find but the instructions on the website was helpful. Best to arrive during daylight hours as it would be quite difficult to find in the dark. Location is super and a convenient location for transfers to the airport and the cruise terminal.
Great staff, beautiful building, good accommodations and perfectly located. It's not a modern place, but this is what you expect when stay in the islands. Stay in Piazza di San Marco it's what you need to know Venice easily. Good breakfast. Great Giardino!
"Wonderful hotel in prime location - lovely staff & fantastic rooms"
I recently stayed at Hotel Dona Palace by myself for one night during October. The hotel is in a fantastic location: tucked away down a little street, you can find yourself in the bustle of San Marco in moments. The hotel itself is small but a true gem. They have their own private peaceful courtyard which overlooks the canal so you can watch the gondolas go by and the dining room is a very impressive sight to see. The rooms are equally impressive. I stayed in Room 14 which is one of their luxury suites with a gorgeous canal view. It truly was one of the most spacious rooms I've ever been in! Impeccably clean and designed in true Venetian style, it had marble bathrooms and an extra sitting room which alone made it feel like my own private palace quarters! Service at the hotel is excellent too. Staff are very friendly and helpful which made things a lot easier for someone travelling alone. Finally, it should be said that I've visited Venice before and this was by far my favourite of hotels to stay in. You can end up paying an awful lot for hotels in Venice and not get a lot back in return, but at Hotel Dona Palace, it's worth every reasonable penny you pay. Great hotel, fantastic location. I would certainly book again.
"Charming hotel in great location"
Stayed here for a long weekend in October and have to say we were delighted with the service from the start. They sorted out and arranged our transportation from the airport in Venice direct to the hotel, thank goodness we paid the extra for them to do this as traipsing around venice with our suitcase trying to find the hotel would have been stressful. The reception staff (Rafaell especially) were extremely helpful, informative and very friendly. The hotel is in a perfect location to all the main attractions in Venice The Classic double room is small but big enough for all that it is needed for sleeping etc. We will be back to Venice one day soon and we will definitely be staying here again.
