"Nothing to be disappointed about - it's wonderful."
Some of the reviews have not been kind, but we cant fault the hotel. From the reception staff who are welcoming and knowledgable, lovely room, comfortable bed and lovely bathroom. Right next to the canal and 2 minutes from st marks square. What more could anyone want. Breakfast was good, close to some of the best restaurants - I can on,y think that you just can't p,ease some people! No hesitation in recommending it to anyone who likes a hotel with a bit of history and atmosphere.
Venezia is the impossible-to-describe-the-atmosphere most beautiful town on the globe. Differently we can so easily describe how pleasant a stay can be when the welcome is warm and the comfort is at the top. On the small "canale dei sospiri" from the windows you can almost see the famous bridge! Breakfast is served in a column dining room indoor terrace and in the afternoon don't miss a spritz on the water level small garden. You'll never forget Venice.
My husband and I arrived in Venice for a long weekend to celebrate my birthday. I cannot imagine a more suitable hotel. We had a boat transfer from the airport and had to walk to the hotel from the pier. It is literally 5 minutes away. The hotel staff were very polite and welcoming and everyone spoke English. We were given a map of Venice (came in very handy!) and told about a few of the main hotspots. We were then directed to our room. The staff were on hand 24rs a day. This was great as we needed to check out at 3am. They were very helpful and didn't hesitate to respond to our queries. An absolutely beautiful room. Very spacious. Spotless and the rich red carpet made it feel very homely. The view was of the courtyard on the side of the hotel we were on. It was still very pleasant and near enough to st Marks Square that we could hear the bell tower. Huge bed and TV had a few English speaking news channels. Free wifi throughout the hotel was an added bonus. Our package included breakfast which is on the send floor. A small buffet of high quality. Pastries, fruit, a small selection of meats, cereal and fruit juices or coffee and tea. More than enough to get you started for the day. 730-1030 am. The hotel is 3 minutes away from the main square which is helpful, as we used it as a guide whenever we got lost. Venice is a beautiful city. We spent hours walking around and exploring. We did boat tours and walking tours also. You need to be fit. There is not much disabled access. If you can't walk I don't think you will get the best out of the city. You will have no trouble finding food or drinks staying at Dona Palace. There is an excellent restaurant literally opposite the hotel. If I go back to Venice I won't even look anywhere else. A beautiful hotel, centrally located in a historical city.
"First family holiday!!!"
I was fortunate enough to have the top floor luxury room #51. Right there was our first disappointment as the view from the balcony/jacuzzi is absolutely rubbish. It is a disappointment to be so close to plaza San Marco yet with a view jammed with rooftops. On the other hand I regretted not bringing my drone along as it would had made it up for it. The room is huge even if the shower was a tiny bit small not the year of the world though. If you are over 100kg do not attempt to sleep on the sofa-bed. Something are simply not made for everybody. The staff was absolutely fantastic, smiling engaging which is a rarety in Venice. The breakfast as most hotels we have been in Venice is average at best. All in all less we rate it 7/10
"Fabulous hotel for a short stay in Venice"
Great location, just 2 minutes from St Mark's Square and a few hundred yards from the Bridge of Sighs. Lovely large room and helpful and pleasant staff. Very clean. Loved having a room with four windows so could have views in different directions.
