"OUR SECOND VISIT"
We stayed at the Dorint last November (2015), and having thoroughly enjoyed our time in Cologne, decided to return this year. We thoroughly reccomend the Hotel for very close proximity to the main shopping streets, Cathedral, train station and Xmas Markets. This year, we upgraded to a Superior double and were not disappointed. The room was very spacious indeed........somewhere around 30ft long with two large windows which actually opened quite wide. There was a nice seating area and tea/coffee making facilities. Nice size bathroom with plenty of hot water whatever the time of day. The only downside is the issue of the pillows (and I did leave the same comment last year). They are far too soft giving no neck support. However, this year I took my own which did help. My husband had to bend the pillow in half to get some degree of comfort. Gym/pool facilities excellent with everything you could possibly need.ie shampoo, hair gel, shower gel, body lotion all provided. Breakfast .......as per last year, still the same vast excellent choices on offer. There is an egg station where the chef will fry or scramble for you) If we return next year, maybe there might be a Pillow menu in place'''
"Great hotel, great location, friendly staff"
After much browsing online decided to go for this hotel because of the proximity to the Christmas markets. I wasn't disappointed, the hotel is in a great location, the decor is modern and clean. I was checked in by Marcel who was professional, friendly and funny. The room was small but felt spacious with the large windows overlooking the Dom. The room was clean with all of the expected amenities and a large, deep bath. My only criticisms would be; I would describe this as 4 star rather than 5 and there was no hotel directory so I had so after using the 'instant service' button on the phone and it going unanswered, I had to speak to reception in person for information on the gym and pool. Overall a great venue and experience.
"Nice Hotel & good Location but the staff ...."
The hotel is in general OK. The room are big and well furnished. the hotel is in city center so very practical for a shopping trip in Cologne. But the staff at the reception is not really friendly even worst they are totally indifferent. My husband stays often in this hotel for business trip. He is a permanent guest. When i arrived i asked for an early checking or at least to keep my luggage - the person was quite rude ( if i had ask for a discount i would have get the same reaction). We came back, they couldn't find our luggages - they asked us to check first in our room. What we did! Then we called because nothing was there ... We had to go down again... What a service!
"Second perfect stay"
This is the second time I am staying at the DORINT and I must say that everything was perfect from reception to quality of the room (excellent bed) and breakfast. I will definitely go back for my next business trip.
"Lovely Hotel very comfortable beds but suggest you eat out!"
Stayed here for business....at first I thought it was unfortunate that my meetings would be 4.5Km away but given the natural modern beauty of Cologne I decided to walk and tram everywhere....if I had a bike I would have biked everywhere. Best way to see the city. Hotel had very comfy beds and good heat control. Also had a nice bar area with subdued lighting where I had my first financial shock. I ordered a night cap....a large whisky which came to 22 euros....cue 'Whoa!' moment number 1. This was clearly going to be a sober healthy trip. Then I ordered the most expensive breakfast on the planet 'Whoa!' moment number 2 ....then to top it off I decided to experience the most expensive tiny beer from the mini bar...which provided my 3rd and final 'Whoa!' moment...alas I then ran out cash to buy the super expensive chocolate....saving up for my next trip. So my advice is definitely stay here - its lovely, warm and comfortable and the staff direct and straightforward...and right next to a tram stop and good shopping....but if you don't want to break the bank then either go out to one of the many restaurants/cafes nearby for breakfast/lunch/dinner or bring a pack up!
