Stayed for the weekend celebrating our dads 70th birthday and the hotel went above and beyond to make the weekend as amazing as it was. What's even better is that without all the treats the staff are simply amazing, all front desk team and Virgil we're on hand at all times. Everything at a firmdale is effortless and we never take this for granted when staying. Thanks to the whole team
What a find! A beautiful small hotel with impeccable service. We were upgraded from a superior to a deluxe room on arrival and the room prices were very reasonable for London. Gorgeous room with nice little touches. The bed was so comfortable and the layout of the room couldn't have been better. The restaurant and bar were fabulous with great service. The location of the hotel was perfect. The only slight niggle was that breakfast delivered to the room would have proved quite expensive. £14.95 each for English breakfast then would have had to pay for coffee juice and cereal on top. We went out for breakfast instead, although some of the room rates include breakfast. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
A beautiful little hotel with excellent staff, lovely rooms and great area. A few minutes walk from the tube. Not cheap but the little extras are all there. The range of products in the room and the honesty bar are both cute. Cricket themed with very lively wallpaper throughout. Good shower, everything clean as a whistle. If you like boutique quaint and helpful staff, this is the place to go.
This hotel is a great find with a really relaxing ambience. The staff were very welcoming and service was excellent throughout our stay. Although our room was lovely and beautifully decorated it was quite small. This did not cause us an issue as we were out and about most of the time. The hotel's location was superb for us. It was quiet despite being central and sufficiently close to the tube station and many shops and restaurants. The Potting Shed provided a lovely breakfast with a huge range of items on offer. The afternoon tea also looked great although we did not indulge! I would definitely recommend this hotel for a getaway in London.
"Homely hotel, small rooms but friendly service"
Dorset Square Hotel has a great location - as most of the Firmdale hotels do. This one is great for Baker Street, shopping on Marylebone High St, Selfridges etc. Fun to visit the fabulous exhibits at the Wallace Collection. It has a sweet restaurant & bar called The Potting Shed. Really warm, friendly & professional service. However, I think the hotel is let down by the room sizes. They are TINY! We were in a deluxe room and you had to edge around the bed... It does have minibar, bathrobes etc and bed linen quality is terrific. But honestly I do think that they've been very mean on room size. There's a relaxing sitting room downstairs (although the amount of different fabric patterns was not very relaxing!). So, it's quirkily decorated (Kit Kemp is well known for love of patterned fabric and eclectic combinations) and there is great attention to details in the furnishings. Room size is the main issue and why I probably wouldn't stay here again (especially when, for the same price, you can get much larger rooms in other great quality hotels). But if you're just looking for a bed after a night at the theatre or a day's shopping, then it's probably fine.
