"Superb location, Reasonable hotel- Take free ferry from Central Station"
The former NDSM wharf is a very hip area with some outstanding restaurants such as Bistro Noord, Pllek, Brood, the IJ-kantine and even the Pannenkoekenboot, interesting artefacts and a lot of art and artists at work in a distinct industrial atmosphere. The NDSM DoubleTree and its own restaurant Brooklyn are almost a bit out of place there since they are too polished for the environemnt. The hotel is comfortable, the rooms are not large though. Reception staff was friendly and very helpful. The DoubleTree cookie is always good. The hotel's own parking lot at 15 Euros per night is very nearby. A plus was Nespresso coffee and free bottled water in the room. An irritant for me was a relative bright blue lighting control touch panel very close to your eyes at night. Once used to the darkness, it lit up the room in an eerie blue light. The airconditioning worked well and quietly. Rooms on the eights floor (only) have very fine fencing in front of the windows rather spoiling the otherwise gorgeous views. I would give the eights floor a miss in the future and aim for the seventh!
"Worst Location Ever!!! - Misleading Hotel Name"
Simply the worst location in Amsterdam. I booked it by pure mistake (thought it Double Tree Central Station which is actually very good) Just pay real good care that you book the right Hilton Double Tree. Staff in the NSDM one is friendly but location could not be worse!!! Will never ever stay here again. Am really guttered I have to stay here for 3 nights.. money is just not worth it.
"Amsterdam wharf Hilton fun"
Best trip ever! We met his son who was studying in Scotland for a holiday & saw the sights. The best was the boat ride on a small boat with a lovely couple who served us drinks & told us about the history of Amsterdam as seen by the canals. Fun history lesson & they also kept us warm with blankets & they were so charming! I suggest everyone try to take this lovely boat tour with the beautiful brunette & the red headed captain aboard their open air vessel so very comfortable with pillows & super clean. Loved this most of all my time in Amsterdam. They avoided the rain under the bridges & they obviously enjoy their life & their enthusiasm in spite of the rain was really wonderful. We also enjoyed the pubs & coffeeshops as well. Great food lots of walking but a great holiday.
"place to be - very hip"
