"Double Tree NDSM Wharf"
Great hotel great location, staff were very nice. Pity the room didn't have USB ports. Only real downfall is that the hold put on my credit card didn't come off for over 7 days. Had to alert my bank to this in the end. Staff were great, helpful as they could be. Defo a good location when the weather is warm and sunny.
"cool hotel in a discovery-worthy area"
This is the second time we stayed at the DoubleTree NDSM Wharf. It's perfect if you have any activities planned on the NDSM area or just want to discover it (there is A LOT to see!). With the ferry right in front of the door, you're in 5 min at the central station. The hotel has a really cool and hip design. Our room was small, but we loved the view of the shipyard!! The breakfast staff was wonderful, really friendly and helpful. The food is delicious and there's something for everybody in the restaurant (also for dinner). There were just a few things that cast a shadow for me: this is an expensive hotel, you shouldn't be given toilet paper bits instead of tissues! That's not ok. Also the parking system doesn't work that well. If I pay 15€ a day for parking, I don't want to wait 10 min ringing the bell for somebody to let me out. When I went inside to ask them to open the gate, they just told me to ring the bell. It took them ages to answer the phone for room service. I hope that the hotel staff will be more motivated in the future to give their guests a delightful stay!
"The Only Negative was the Breakfast"
Stayed here for two nights in February to celebrate my wife's birthday. I chose this hotel for two reasons, one the price was much lower than hotels in the city centre, and two as I Hilton Honors Diamond member the added perks made the stay even better value. We booked the cheapest room option, which was described as having 'limited natural light' but when I went to check in via the Hilton app I saw that we had been upgraded to a queen deluxe room, the best room category available! Upon arriving at the hotel we were quickly checked in and presented with a delicious DoubleTree cookie each. When we arrived in our room we also had a platter of small cakes to say happy birthday to my wife. The room was lovely, very comfy bedding, nice furniture and a separate bath and shower. My only comment was that the shower was open, where as I prefer a shower with a door to seal in the steam! Now to the bad point: Breakfast. Breakfast was offered free as a Hilton Diamond member, and the options available were good but there were a few things that made it a disappointment. There were around 5 different hot options, but when I went to select some food the scrambled eggs and hash brown dishes were empty. I asked a server if there would be anymore and he said there would in a few minutes. A good few minutes passed and I went to see if anything had changed, it hadn't. The server saw me waiting and said he would bring me over what I wanted when they were ready. I waited at my table for a good 5 -10 more minutes, but he never showed. My wife happened to go up for some more food and low and behold the eggs were there, so I went up and served myself. The other point to note about the hot options were that they weren't that hot! Everything seemed to be decidedly luke warm. After a disappointing breakfast I thought I would pass on my thoughts to reception and she said she would pass on the comments to the restaurant staff. We also received another platter of cakes and a hand written note apologizing for the sub standard breakfast, which was great to see. Unfortunately the message obviously didn't get quite through as the next day again all the hot food was luke warm. It's a shame as it's such an easy thing to solve. Overall we enjoyed our stay, and hopefully these comments about breakfast will be taken on board and improved for future guest. A few points about the location. Ferries from Centraal station are every 30 minutes for most of the day and take around 15 minutes. The hotel is about two minutes walk from the dock. NDSM is a cool area and there are some good restaurant options locally. It's obviously not central, but it's reasonably convenient assuming you know this before you arrive.
The hotel is located an easy (and free) ferry ride from Centraal station which keeps the hotel connected with the city centre. We were put on the ground floor in a room which was enormous and comfortable. The space meant we could spread out our things without being on top of each other, the bathroom was also big and impeccably kept. The staff were very friendly and always able to answer any questions I had. We decided to go to the city for dinners, but the adjoining restaurant looked very appealing.
Even though Hotel has smaller room, has perfect view by the river and was tidy! Just catch the boat which you can find till late night and enjoy this amazing town with friendly people around, lovely bars.
