I recently attended an awards night in this hotel and I have to say it was an excellent night, both food and service were about my expectations and congratulations to the banqueting team. My room was very comfortable and breakfast excellent, so overall a great place to stay
Stayed at the start of October 16, when it was a Hilton Doubletree. Lovely hotel away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre, took around 30 minutes to walk into the city centre, always taxis available outside and well served by public buses to both the centre and the airport. Good bar and great breakfast
"Night club blasting at 1.46am"
Sorry guys But I didn't sign up for music blasting at almost 2 am. I appreciate if you are on a weekend break and want to party but you need to ask your guests it they plan an early night or late one. Wide awake here at Nearly 2am wth the room on the FOURTH floor vibrating to the noise from the nightclub... Not happy....
"Very poor customer service"
I recently stayed at this hotel and also had dinner here. Following my stay I contacted the hotel and was advised my message would be forwarded to management and someone would contact me. That was 3 weeks ago, nobody has contacted me. For my started I ordered melon as the gluten free option, however I was served three cubes of watermelon and two cubes of pineapple, last time I checked pineapple was not a type of melon........nor is it suitable for coeliac guests who were also served this. For my main I ordered what was on the menu as beef but what was served was more like sirloin steak and it was raw in the middle. We had all expected to receive slices of beef and were not asked when ordering how we wanted the meat cooked. I asked for mine to be taken back as I wanted it well done. About 5 minutes later a waitress came to the table with what she described as "well done". It was in fact as raw as the first one!
"Worst Hotel Service For Years - Avoid"
First of all I booked this as a Hilton Double Tree a month ago and was told by e-mail 3 days before arriving that it was now a Clayton from 22nd November. I checked in on 25th. I asked for my Hilton HHonors points, which had been entered when the booking was made but was told this was now not possible. I was asked for my credit card on arrival, but not for payment, just for security. I paid by cash on leaving, but this evening have been told by HSBC, who are also investigating an unrelated fraud on my account that the Hilton DoubleTree has a pending transaction that they have charged to me of £170.10, way more than the value of the invoice that I settled by cash on departure. I phoned this evening to ask for a refund (as recommended by HSBC) but after waiting for ten minutes to be answered I was constantly interrupted by a rude bad mannered male who would not give his name and then hung up on me when I asked to speak to the duty manager, who was apparently far 'too bus'y. This follows another saga which resulted in me having to move room due to sewage pouring into my bath. Again, no one would answer the phone when I dialled for help at reception so I ended up calling room service who at least managed to get the message to the maintenance man. He came up fairly quickly to his credit but couldn't fix the problem so moved me to another room. So that I could at last have a bath, he had asked the reception to bring me a key to the new room quickly, but this didn't materialise for 20 minutes, so I called again and hang on for another five minutes to be told that the maintenance man had not told then that I had moved room and needed a key quickly...which I am sure that he did. The key eventually came up and I had a bath, after a 90 minute saga. As already mentioned I am now facing an incorrect payment, charged to my credit card, for more than the true invoice cost, which has already been settled. This is itemised as Hilton and not Clayton, even though I was unable to claim my Hilton HHonors points. What a mess! Not a business hotel by any stretch of the imagination.
