"a lot of pluses but ..."
I've been a gold member with Hilton for years and am usually VERY happy with the chain. this time, not so much. yes - great location, nice staff, not too bad breakfast, helpful concierge but... *if you're a gold member don't expect that to earn you the perks that you're used to receiving (at least until you complain). *I would be careful with sleeping on lower floors (windows are not sound proof). first night I was put in the corner room on the first floor = did not sleep most of the night. *'king size' beds I experienced are two uneven single beds with a cover. mind the ridge. *somewhere it says that the place was renovated - wallpaper corners next to the ceiling claimed otherwise.
Location, location, location.. 3 mint walk to marble arch underground station, Kensington gardens, oxford st, restaurants etc.. super comfy bed, good sized bedrooms and bathrooms.. my shower had molds on side of the wall..
The hotel is in an ideal location just off Oxford street which is perfect for shopping, close to the tube station and Hyde Park. All the staff were exceedingly friendly and attentive. Our room was big enough for three adults and located at the back of the hotel where we didn't encounter any noise. Would definitely stay here again.
"Great location / very good service - second stay with some issues"
Hello, we stayed here in November 2013 and booked it again because of its location. We asked for a room at the back of the hotel which was supposed to be a quiet room (in front you get a lot of noise from the traffic) but had the bad surprise to have a huge construction being built. So lots of drilling and hammering. Unfortunately there is no double glazing. I noticed that one of the windows was not properly sealed. Reception took immediate action and sent somebody to fix it. Regarding the building works; note that they start at 8 am sharp and finish at 6 pm. If you spend a lot of time in the room it could be an issue. The Manager in charge at the reception was very professional and kind! Actually we have no complaints at all regarding the service. Breakfast was very basic. Not too much choice. Also note this is a London hotel; so don't expect huge rooms and big wardrobes. The bathroom is also very small but you can manage. Bedding is very good and comfy. The furniture and carpets need a redo. Overall we had a good stay despite the fact of the "surprise" building at the back... Cheers, Sara
