"Grear time in Istanbul!"
My wife, 18-year-old daughter & I enjoyed our overnight stay at Doubletree by Hilton Old Town in Istanbul January 5, 2017. Comfortable room, delicious in-room dining and complimentary breakfast, great airport pickup and lobby security. The real treat was being w/i a 10-minute walk of some of old Istanbul's greatest treasures: Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Topkapi, the shimmering Bosphorus. And don't forget the Doubletree choco chop cookies!!!
Stayed here with my family and truly a wonderful experience. The location is perfect and within walking distance of the iconic Blue Mosque and Haga Sophia. There are restaurants nearby and the area is clean. Shops along the pathway to the tourist sites make it a pleasant walk and the souk is also nearby. They have charming souvenirs and excellent quality t-shirts at the souk. I loved everything about this trip and the Hilton cookies in the foyer were the cherry on top.
This Double Tree offers a convenient, well-equipped base in the old town of Sultanahmet, within striking distance of all the principle attractions. An early check-in provided a welcome opportunity to arrive in the morning and leave bags before returning later on in the evening. My guest room on level 1 was situated just above reception and opposite the 'business centre', a bank of PC's arranged stylishly around a glass mezzanine. The room was functional and appeared to be well serviced. The room had no view, only an inaccessible recess to the rear of the building that faced other rooms. The mini-bar was modest with complimentary water offered. The bathroom felt somewhat dated with a walk-in shower (no bath), frankly nothing special but still quite acceptable. The restaurant on the ground floor was very nicely equipped for a buffet-style breakfast and there were comfortable seating areas spread over the lobby including a library complete with a range of reference titles. The hotel tends to flatter to deceive, however. The building is only five stories high, consequently the sky terrace though nicely decked has largely uninspiring views of local rooftops and the sides of buildings. The open atrium that stretches towards a glazed roof is very attractive but somewhat predictably allows noise to travel upwards from the lobby (as well as between floors). Signage could do with being improved throughout the hotel to improve general orientation - I often found myself wandering around looking for facilities e.g. bar, toilets, stairs. Despite placing a 'Please Service' sign on the door early on the first morning my room was not actually serviced. I received an apology from the house-keeping staff after I had returned to my room after lunch, though this was still an oversight. I needed to speak with reception later on in order to rectify this. Although there were ice buckets in the rooms there was no sign of any ice machines on this particular floor and/or any other. Also there were no tea/coffee mugs, only disposable paper cups, which I'm not convinced were recyclable' At the time of writing all the spa facilities on the lower floor(s) were closed due to extensive renovations and were not due to re-open until early 2017, a major inconvenience considering the fact there was no alternative(s) offered by the management e.g. complimentary access to a spa at another hotel in the Hilton chain. Overall this is a reasonably competitive choice though regrettably lacking in certain aspects. I had a decent stay but each of the above points would need to be adequately addressed in order to entice me to stay again.

"Comfortable stay "
Had an amazing time at DoubleTree by Hilton. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The service is amazing. We stayed there on Christmas Day and had Christmas Dinner at the hotel and I just say that the food was unique and Devine. Kids could build snowman's and make snow angles. Rooms are very comfortable.
