"Excellent Value and Location"
Stayed for two nights in January (Thursday to Saturday). Location is great as it is opposite Piccadilly station and close to the centre of Manchester. I particularly like the Norther Quarter of Manchester and this hotel is well situated for this area. The reception is very welcoming. The room was basic in decoration but good quality and had every thing you need. Comfortable bed, good shower and soft towels. There is a large shower gel in the shower, which is very nice and easier than bothering with those small bottles. There is a fridge with complimentary still water. You also get a cookie when you check in. All these details make it so much nicer than your usual budget hotel. Will definitely be staying again.
"Very good location"
Was going to Man Utd for evening football match. Very good hotel for access to train to get us to Old Trafford, and right in centre of Manchester so all other facilities were within easy reach. Hotel was very good, breakfast excellent and room more than adequate for what we needed. Only downside, if you arrive by car, parking could be difficult. We were lucky and got parking space close to hotel.
Stayed for 2 nights at the Doubletree Hilton, Piccadilly Manchester Jan 2017. The hotel is within easy reach of the train station. When we arrived our Queen room wasn't ready but they gave us a King for the same price, which was good. Room number 418. Tee and coffee in the room, plus fridge and safe. Nice bed, TV and bathroom with large window view of the street. The hotel is within easy reach of the Manchester Art Gallery, which is small-ish, but free and a really great way to spend a couple of hours. It's about a 15 minute walk to the O2. Dinner We had dinner at the hotels City Cafe, consisting of Soup for starters and steak, and a bottle of wine. The soup was lovely, but the steak was a little tough, and most definitely overpriced overall. To be honest, there's a lot of places to eat in the proximity of the hotel so I would eat there again. I think it was just overpriced and the food not impressive. Breakfast There's a lot of choice for breakfast, including all your typical English fried, a continental and a serial spread. The first day we had a fried breakfast and coffee. The coffee and breakfast were luke warm, and not very nice at all. The staff should ensure breakfasts and drinks are always hot, so room for improvement here and to be honest it was pretty awful because of that. The second day I had porridge, toast and fruit which was nice. My partner had tea, and that was cold. Very poor indeed as the same issues from the day before were obviously not just one-offs but ongoing issues. . The staff The staff in the restaurant were nice. The cleaning lady on the fourth floor was rude. We were waiting at the lift area to go down to check out and the cleaning lady came over and basically walked in front of us into our lift and told us the lift was for her use to go up! We couldn't believe it, we stood speechless. We had been waiting for the lift and had been queue jumped by the cleaner and so had to wait for another, you couldn't make it up. . . Would I use this hotel again, probably not. Good location, poor breakfast and average dinner. Next door was the holiday inn and that looked nice and was much cheaper. .
I'd give it no stars, but that isn't an option on this site. We only stayed in the room to sleep in after visiting family on Boxing Day. It was the coldest hotel room I have ever been in. We left with colds and wished we'd just booked with a budget hotel like Premier Inn, absolutely useless and the staff and comments forms are more concerned about their basic cookies that no one cares about. How about do the basics first. The room was dated and not as nice as many budget hotels we've stayed in. We stay in Manchester City centre every Boxing Day, we will never be returning to this hotel.
"1st stay in a Hilton"
When we arrived we had s problem checking in which was not fault of the hotel and they offered us complimentary drink which was nice but other than that it wasn't really any different to any other hotel we'd stayed in the staff were great very polite an genuinely wanted to help but I thought the fact breakfast and parking were not included in the price made it pretty poor value as it took our stay for 1 night from £100 to just under £150 which isn't value for money in my opinion but it's was a nice experience as never stayed in a Hilton but probably wouldn't return
