"Another great night"
Stopping in Double Tree by Hilton for 3 simple reasons A) location in Piccadilly Manchester is smack in the middle of bars, shopping and next the the vibrant bar and cafe culture of the northern quarter. Perfect B) hotel is always clean well presented and smooth running no matter how busy. Food choice for a relaxed mid afternoon brunch is perfect C) last and most important the staff. Who are a credit to the Hilton group. Not once in the many stays I have here have they not been attentive polite and helpful. I have to give credit to Ryan in.the urban bar. who remembered us from.our last visit, made us so welcome and when asked for a nice Italian came back with a menu, map and location and confirmed they had seats avaible. Absolutely outstanding customer service.
"Good location for the train station"
The biggest selling point for me was the closeness to the train station (Manchester Piccadilly). Apart from that, the hotel felt pretty averagely standard. The bed was comfortable but not amazing. The food in the bar was ok. The room itself felt a bit tired and pretty basic. The bathroom door was annoyingly on a fire exit hinge so wouldn't stay open. The shower was good. But nothing really to rave about - certainly not a very good or excellent hotel. If needs must, it will do. But there are also a lot of other hotels in the area, so it may be worthwhile to look around.
"Value for money"
If you are arriving by train at Manchester Piccadilly look no further. The hotel is right in front of the station. The hotel feels new and modern, and staff are friendly and helpful. The room is spacious and well appointed. Unless you're carrying more than a few items that needs charging you will be alright with available power sockets. There are no international sockets though so if you need a different socket you'll have to pack your adapter or get one from reception. The door isn't very good at soundproofing the room though as I can hear people walking and chattering. I also had a room close to the lifts and I can hear the lift bell every time it rang. I wasn't particularly bothered by this and am not a light sleeper. However, I can imagine someone who prefers to feel isolated in the room might find this bothersome, in which case I would suggest rooms further away from the lifts. The window is different and does a decent job of keeping street noise down. Wireless connection is speedy and reliable. I had a problem with the shower cubicle door and the shower head. The seal at the bottom of the floor was coming off and I'd inadvertently created a pool. The shower head was also dripping. Despite having raised the issue to reception and said that I would be out for the day I came back to find that the seal remains unattached. The shower head was now placed on the floor. Sure it doesn't drip any more but that defeats the point of having a hanger for it. On closer inspection I found that I can actually reattach the seal on the door myself and did so. This proved quite effective if it wasn't for the way the shower screen and the door were put together--with a big gap between them without any seal. So unless you're careful in the shower you will end up with a pool of water outside the shower. However, I feel like these are localised issues and may not happen in every single room. Also they could be easily rectified. (Take note, DoubleTree. This is room 432.)
"dont stay in room 438"
I am sure I was unlucky. I stayed here on business and was pleased with the spacious room and bathroom. however when I retired v tired with an early start ahead I was kept awake - a panel just inside the door in ceiling rattled every few seconds then it stopped for a few minutes only to start again. this was all night like Chinese water torture.... called desk told it was air conditioning, told them it was off but only thing they could suggest!. terrible nights sleep and to top it off the shower was tepid. no parking at all at hotel but v close to station.
"Very good stay, great location"
Had a wonderful stay here and nothing to complain about. The location of this property is fantastic - literally one street across the Piccadilly train station, which is so convenient for me who came in through the train station. Walking distance as well to Chinatown and Arndale Centre. The rooms were of a very good size and I appreciated the walk in shower as I much prefer showers over bathtubs. Wifi was fast and rooms were spotlessly clean. We stayed here over Easter and were pleasantly surprised to come back to chocolates during the period. Will definitely stay here again if I come back to Manchester!
