"Excellent customer service, great room"
Our room was spacious and while breakfast was only average, it is the customer service at this hotel that would keep me coming back. We asked if they had biscuits at the breakfast buffet line and the answer was "No, but we'll have them for you tomorrow" And true to their word, the next 4 mornings, the chef made a few biscuits just for our family. That was outstanding. The desk staff and bell hops, etc. were super friendly, helpful and courteous.
The rooms are average and the hotel is older but is pretty well kept overall. The location is not convenient to the arena and downtown restaurants however the hotel shuttle was a nice convenience. Pool is nice but no hot tub.
"Mixed Review of This Not-Exactly-Downtown Hotel"
To be fair - it's in the up-and-coming North Quarter which is NEAR downtown. About a 15-20-minute walk to Church Street Station and the other signs of nightlife in the big O, but there are some nice restaurants and bars that are starting to proliferate near the Doubletree. My room was clean, though the furniture was old. The place definitely needs to be refurbished. Adjacent to the hotel are a highway, a train (passenger and freight) track, and several construction sites, which create noise all hours of the day, and, unfortunately, night. I also had unwelcome guests in my room. A bunch of small insects - perhaps tiny ants - that invaded my toilet area the first morning of my stay. Unfortunately, after I reported them to the front desk that morning, the bugs returned the next day. Concerned about them "bombing" my room, I instructed the front desk clerk to have a manager contact me to discuss how they were going to handle the issue. But no one ever called. I returned to the room after a long day of work, and, while the room appeared clean, I had no context for how they handled the issue. The next morning, I spoke to the same front desk clerk, who apologized that the manager never called me, offered to discount my room rate (which I declined since my client was paying), and then offered me bonus Hilton Honors points. I thought that was the end of the saga, but, sure enough, I found a couple of stragglers in my room. I thought about reporting it again, but, it being my last day at the property, decided not to "bug" them any longer. The saving grace of the hotel was the restaurant. Fortunately I get the $18 breakfast buffet for free. The food was delicious. Many options were offered, including free bottles of Naked fruit juice on the buffet. The coffee was good. The service was slow, but acceptable. Not the best nor worst place I've ever stayed, and I average about 80 room nights per year.
"New Year's Eve with the family 2017"
Great location, clean room and friendly Staff. Our room was quiet, even with construction work being performed on the interstate in front of this hotel. Only down side was having to pay to a daily fee to park, I would recommend this hotel to others and definitely stay here again.
"Comfortable, Clean, Convenient, Courteous Staff"
I just returned from a one night, March 12th stay at this facility. Given that spring break has started, I was fortunate to get a room for a reasonable price. Since the hotel is downtown and not a resort, at one of the theme parks nor on Internationl Drive, no resort fee (i.e., $25-$40 per night) is charged. I am in Orlando often and stay here when it is convenient to do so.
