We had an absolutely wonderful family getaway at DoubleTree. The room was very clean and beds were comfortable. The staff couldn't have been nicer. The children loved the water playground and pool. We will definitely stay here again.
Listed as a "resort hotel". Nice rooms and good buffet breakfast. Looks like the kids pool would bring families in on weekends. Onsite restaurant and bar, didn't eat there other than breakfast. Some rooms inside with no outside view.
"Embassy Suites look and feel, though interior needs severe remodeling"
Stayed here overnight as a Diamond for an event at a local college. The lobby looks nice, but once you get to the hallways you'll start to feel 1980s with the hallways, walls, and carpeting. My room had a nice lounge/work area at the expense of a cramped bedroom. Breakfast is a small buffet area, although they do have a made to order eggs station so that is a saving grace. Did not check out the pool area - in any case I think there was a note that said the pool was closed or something, not sure. I guess at one time this place had grandeur but lost its charm over time. It really has potential, just need investment in decor.
"Average Hotel, Hard For Me To Consider A Resort"
Most of my stays at a DoubleTree hotel are usually prior to early morning vacation flight or for an athletic event for one of my grandkids. The later was the case for this visit, a weekend volleyball tournament in Lancaster. My wife and I were babysitting our granddaughters, ages 4 & 8, for the weekend, so the water park was a nice surprise. I guess that's one reason this hotel bills itself a resort. When I envision a resort, I expect many more amenities than I noticed here, although being the "off-season", perhaps that's expected. Online check in was as efficient as usual. Digital key worked well; did have to stop by the front desk to get it to function correctly. Staff were really friendly and efficient. Check in wasn't until 4pm, but when I called at 2pm I was told my room was ready and I could arrive anytime. Very much appreciated!!. No Hilton Honors floor at this hotel, but they do have free Honors wifi which worked very well. Our 2 room king/queen suite was very dated, but worked out OK. Reverse layout might have been better with the 2 children, perhaps the 2 room suite with pull out sofa might have been better suited for us. Restaurant was average, really nothing special. Of course, only tried lunch and dinner one time each. View of grounds was lovely. Water park was very nice, although I did learn that an 8 year old boy had drown there in December. I'm sure it was a very tragic event for everyone involved. There were strict protocols for use of the water slide while we were there; monitor at the slide entrance, only 1 person allowed at a time, no water wings or other flotation devices, and height minimum. 2 life guards on duty as well. As I mentioned earlier, our kids had a ball at the park and made a couple of friends quickly. Hotel does appear to have a focus for business and other events with large meeting rooms and ballroom. Grounds appear to be very well maintained and lighting display was nice. I would return if I had the young children again, but not if it was just my wife and I. Not worth the price for the 2 of us.
"Great Family Oriented Hotel"
Not only has indoor aquatic park, they have suggestions to local entertainment events and places. Great atmosphere. The staff is great and very hospitable. Will recommend this place over and over. Close to outlets too!
