"My birthday stay was in dusit every year"
Excellent hospitality and excellent food and location i enjoyed the stay alot for the 5th year in a row I celebrated my birthday here ,very nice view ,and employees are professional, as if i was in Thailand 🇹🇭 👌👌👌👌
My first time in Egypt in over two years, we picked this hotel for proximity to our meetings, very welcoming and efficient staff, going to the room was a different story, they looked worn out, chipped paint, bed sheets not very fresh or clean for that matter, I had to call for them to fix the sink, to be fair the front of the house asks every day how is my stay, I did inform them of all these remarks, and they took all the notes and apologized. I do not think I would be back, but at the same time I would not say it was a complete disaster.
"Easter business trip"
Had a great time at the Dusit Cairo, I had experienced some problems with the Fairmont Heliopolis and wanted to change Hotels. I moved to the Dusit, the public areas are very impressive and the view of the pool area equally so, but it is the smiling Thai faces which make you feel most welcome. Cairo isn't the best of places at the moment, but the Dusit is like a little oasis of tranquility. The yellow Thai curry was just right and the spa facility is excellent value. A great place to stay in Cairo.
"Unprofessional Staff and Lack of Accountability From Management"
I am writing this review as an African American that lives in Cairo and has for the past two years. My husband, daughter and I have stayed at various Egyptian hotels in Hurghada, Ain Sokhna, Sharm and Sahl Hasheesh. We recently decided to stay at the Dusit Thani Hotel to celebrate our 5th Wedding Anniversary this weekend. We’ve visited the amazing Lake View Spa (down the street from the hotel) on a weekly basis and have eaten at the Hotel’s two restaurants but never actually stayed at the Hotel. Let’s just say, we regret this decision highly. Upon arrival, we were checked around 1pm and escorted to our room. Everything was going great and after we ordered lunch to our room and had eaten, my husband and I decided to take our 4-year-old to the pool for a swim. Upon entering the outdoor pool area, we were excited to see the large pool filled with children of all ages and their parents. We were immediately approached by one of the Egyptian male pool attendants and he pointed to a downstairs area and told us, “to go there”! He literally told us that we needed to go to a different pool, designated for “children”. We immediately pointed to the over 20 children in the large pool and their parents and rhetorically asked the attendant exactly why he is advising us to another pool area, when there were tons of children in the pool we were looking to swim in. The answer was clearly obvious to us, but we wanted to hear what he had to say. He had no answer. We then told him to leave us alone and that we would remain in the pool of our choice. He walked away and still did not offer us a towel, as his job entailed. We had to call him over to us again and ask for towels. He placed our three towels on the ground and did not even place them on a pool chair, as he did for other guests that came after us. As I swam in the pool with my daughter, he continued to harass me. It was unsettling. We were the only African Americans there and all other guests and children were Egyptian. My husband and I informed management of the situation and of course they apologized and offered excuses on behalf of the attendant. Needless to say, this placed a sour and unfortunate tone for the remainder of our stay. The Hotel is opulently beautiful, but staff is non-chalant to the issues or racism, classism and disrespect. This treatment to guests should NEVER be tolerated, no matter their skin color, class or race. We were clearly being ushered away to a lower-pool area because we were amazingly different from everyone else there. Management failed tremendously at making us whole and did not offer anything to us to assuage the situation. We will alert our friends and Embassy staff and guests not to stay at the hotel. The Spa next door is amazing and offers world-class customer service, which is separate from the hotel. We looked forward to checking out the next morning and will not return. We should have flown to the previous hotels in Egypt we’ve enjoyed in the past and will. Dusit Thani Lakeview Hotel needs to train their staff better, as well as their management on how to take care of their guests and not treat them as they would treat people on the streets. Just distasteful and even more unsatisfying was management’s poor response and excuses.
Highly recommend! Great hotel, good food options with a few other restaurants in the premises. Excellent pool. Away from tourist locations but a fantastic luxury hotel. The Thai restaurant and also Tao I would highly recommend. I believe all rooms offer pool views of some sort. Very safe and secure.
