This place was great. The staff was friendly and very helpful. They all spoke English very well. We arrived early and wouldn't be able to check in for a few hours. They held our bags and allowed us to lounge by the pool and eat and drink. It was great, refreshing and relaxing. Q at the bar makes a mean drink!! The concierge was very informative and had great suggestions. I took a fun cooking class. We went to the elephant sanctuary and a trip up the mountain to see the village and temple. We stayed in Chiang Mai for the flower festival. This is the reason we came and the parade and festival were beautiful. This hotel is right in front of the night market so it is really easy to go shopping or eat and the live music is wonderful. Oh and there is an amazing massage place right around the corner. The room was nice and they had a little gift for us every night if our stay. They even knew it was my sons birthday and they sent him a birthday cake. The Dusit D2 was wonderful and if I ever make it to that part of the world again, I would stay there.
A great location to visit all the sights in Chiang Mai, especially as it is right next to the Night Markets. which are not to be missed, for some great Thai food. There was a Boots the chemists next door as well, that stocked a lot of British things. The Breakfast was fantastic and set us up for the day, (we tended to skip lunch). The room was a good size with a good clean bathroom, very comfortable beds, as Thailand tend to have hard beds, but not here. The pool was good but a bit cool, with a bar for drinks and snacks. The Wi-Fi worked well but had to log on to it most days. A standard price for a taxi to and from the airport was 150bt, as it is only 15 min away.
"Good location "
This hotel has a great location with no lack of something to do. The staff are very nice and helpful at times; although there was a bit of a language barrier. The wifi an air conditioning worked perfectly throughout the duration of my stay. The food in the hotel was very good ranging from Thai to international food, although I do not recommend the seafood buffet as it was very tasteless. The rooms are outdated but still not horrible although my room didn't smell musty I was talking to another guy who had complaints about his carpet. The spa is one of the best I've been too in Thailand very professional an worth the money. Overall my experience in Chiang Mai was amazing but it's due to what Was around the hotel an not so much the hotel itself!
"Good but not Great"
First of all, location. Next to the night market, if you like that sort of thing, and only a 15 min walk or 5 mins. in a tuk-tuk to the old town, so overall the location is pretty good. The lobby is huge and impressive with a welcome blast of A/C when you walk in. We had a club room which was large, quiet and very comfortable with a large walk-in shower room. I don't know how this compares to a " standard" room but it was certainly extremely good. The same cannot be said for the " Happy Hour " in the club lounge. The choice of canapes is limited and the wine not really drinkable. Even the Gin spoilt the taste of the tonic -----can't believe I've just written that, but it's true. We were there at the Lunar New Year so the occupancy rate was very high. Even so, the buffet breakfast was excellent, and dishes were replaced before they ran out. The only problem was that there were lot of Tour Groups, many of whom had young children who were allowed to burn off all their excess energy by running around the restaurant unchecked. It may seem unfair to blame the hotel for the failure of their guests to keep their children under control, but on the other hand the hotel has decided to market itself to Tour Groups, so they presumably know what will happen. Would I stay there again '''---probably, but would choose a quieter period.
"Good city hotel"
Stayed for 3 nights while on a mini break to Chiang Mai. Check in was quick and efficient and front desk staff were friendly. We hadn't included breakfast when we booked and were offered a discount rate of 380B each per person per day. This isn't too unreasonable for a hotel and well worth it for the convenience of not having to go out somewhere for breakfast. Stayed in a 'deluxe' room which I think is the cheapest rooms they have. Even so, I can't fault anything about the room. Good air-con, comfortable bed and nice bathroom. The bathroom has a glass wall between it and the bedroom which I like because it makes the bathroom a lot more airy and roomy feeling. There are blinds you can close for privacy. The gym on the 10th floor is very nice but I don't believe it is open 24 hours. I got there 2 mins after 6am and I think it may have just been unlocked. Only ate breakfast at the hotel so can't comment on any any other dining options. But, considering the numerous options for drinking and eating in the city, I don't think it really matters what the hotel restaurant is like. Breakfast is good, although the servers can be a bit slow bringing the coffee. I would definitely stay again.
