"Excellent service - best place to stay"
Stayed at this hotel for 6 night, the facilities, the staff and generally everything was excellent. Highly recommended - reasonably priced. The rooms are well presented and kept clear through out by the staff. Breakfast is also very good. Don't forget to use the gym and the swimming pool.
I stayed in the Grand Eastin for 2 nights. Upon arrival, check-in was swift and staff friendly. We were promptly escorted to our room with our bags. The room was lovely. There were 2 bottles of water complementary and we were assured that a quick call to housekeeping would provide us with more. We did call them on the second day and they provided us with 4 more bottles of water. In the bathroom there is a large bathtub which also has a rainwater shower and shower head. Perfect for a long soak after a visit to the tunnels! The amenities are great- toothpaste and toothbrush, shaving kit, earbuds etc. The towels were clean but one or two looked a little worse for wear. There are plenty of English channels on TV including some movie channels. The spa is amazing. I had an acupressure massage for around $30 Australian and honestly it was the best massage I've ever had. The spa is absolutely gorgeous and very well maintained. The gym looked well equipped and in good order. Breakfasts were fantastic. There should be something to please even the fussy eaters. There are a wide selection of breads and pastries, cereals, fruits and yoghurts, pancakes waffles and crepes, eggs and bacon and traditional foods. The hotel is located close to the airport and, as mentioned by other reviewers, a little ways out of the center of town. We caught a taxi from the palace and it ended up costing 57000 so about 3.50 Australian. There also weren't very many places to eat close by that we could find unless we could brave crossing the main road outside the hotel. The hotel were happy to hold our bags for us before our flight on our last day. I would definitely recommend the Grand Eastin and would definitely stay there again on my next visit to Ho Chi Minh City.
"Not a tourist hotel "
Stayed recently as part of a tour done through ho Ann express. The hotel it's self is ok,breakfast reasonable ,rooms and pool just acceptable what the problem is the hotels location. It's close to the airport a good 20 minutes from the city centre in a cab, beware unlicensed taxis ,vinasun are ok about £3 one way, traffic is terrible and it becomes a real pain for every visit into town, there are no restaurants or bars nearby, advice stay in the city.
"4 star hotel at 5 star price"
First the positives: The bed was extremely comfortable and the room clean. Bell service was also very nice. My room had a nice view. Check in was quick and everyone was polite. Now the negatives: It is far away from the city center although close to the airport. The concierge didn't seem to understand English very well. She couldn't even answer my question about a good place to get a drink. Instead, all she could do is point out her over priced tours (twice the price of other places). When I asked the bell hop he assisted me he very quickly pointed out where to go. The concierge also couldn't understand my request for help booking a car from hue to hoi an. She found me flights from saigon to hoi an instead. I finally gave up with asking for help after several miscommunications. I ate a simple meal at their restaurant that turned out to be $18. I had pad thai and pumpkin soup with a drink. The meal was average - good (about the same quality as an average restaurant in saigon) but probably 5 times the cost. I have absolutely no problem paying higher rates for luxury but I fully expect the level that I pay to be commensurate with the service received. If I am paying 5x the price for a meal, it better be amazing. Here it was not compared to other amenities in the city. It should not be considered a 5 star hotel, but instead closer to a 4 star. If I paid 1/3 - 1/2 the price for what I got I would be satisfied.
"It's ok "
Check in 31st October, 1 night I arrive with taxi because of our luggage and my boyfriend arrive with motorbike and ask the bellman where to park but then the way the bellman directs the parking was like my boyfriend need to go somewhere far out of the hotel to park, he ask to another staff and directed to the parking Hotel Atmosphere : The hotel look and smells old, I can really tell just by the decorations and by the hotel lobby that it's already old establishment Check in: was ok, we were assisted by bellman to our room and explain our room properly even the fire exit sign, my boyfriend said that it's his first time to encounter a person who knows what his job is (didnot able to remember the Bellman's name) Parking: Late afternoon we wanted to go out and ask for the motorbike, we need to take it by our self (not a problem) but what surprises me was there was no complimentary parking for the hotel guest and need to pay for it, we ask the guy in the reception, one guy said that they have another parking for the hotel guest and we should not park on that place, we were escorted by another bellman at the parking where we did park and this person is saying that parking where we park is one parking for hotel guest or not and all need to pay for the parking whether you are a hotel guest or not (we got no problem paying or parking but kindly be clear even at the first moment we arrive and ask) So which is which' One staff said different and other staff said different also Clear and good information results with good communication Guest service operator and room service: Operator was good, Ordered room service and did not take long time to deliver Room: Room was also good, i like the soft pillows but not too soft and it was too cold when we first enter the room, RA missed out to throw away something as we found a plastic at the corner near the facial tissue was (it's a plastic cover from the bottled water) other than that bathroom was clean Dinner: We dine in at the Chinese restaurant, the waitress is so helpful by taking orders and suggesting, prompt service but not annoying They did ask for last order (that's good) but then our bill came even we did not ask for it yet, was surprised again We also went to the casino to play a bit but it's all machines even poker it's in machine monitor Next day breakfast : Buffet spread was ok, normal and nothing to shout about There was hair in the bacon dish, the noodles soup also had eyelashes hair the set up of the table we were, cutleries not clean need to ask to reset up Pancake section not really hot just a bit warm Check out: Check out process was quick, they help to get taxi going to the airport Over all was ok, not also expecting that much (as I learn in life, expectations leads to disappointments) I'm not a fussy hard guest, I don't complain much as I understand because I also work in the same industry This is just all what I observed and happened but for a 5 Star Hotel, high standard must be at all times
