"Centrally located upscale hotel"
We stayed one night here on our way back to New York. The hotel is located in the center o the city we were able to walk to the main shopping district of Florida street in a few minutes. (which was our quest) The hotel is very nicely decorated, the lobby is open plan looking up to the first floor bar area. We stayed on the 9th floor just below the Breakfast dining area on the 10th. Breakfast was typical Argentinian, lots of pastries a small amount of hot food and fresh juices. The chairs and tables looked a bit worn and old as did the windows looking out onto the building next door. They could do to update that area similar to the lobby. The reception was very nice and all spoke English. They recommended two different tango shows, one a lot more expensive than the other. We chose the less expensive of the two Sabor a Tango, even though the reviews were not so great, we went with low expectations and were pleasantly surprised. A taxi to the airport from this hotel was $500 AR Pesos.
"Old, noisy, dirty and no wi-fi"
We have booked a double bed, however we were accommodated in a room with 2 old single beds. The mattress was horrible and the blankets were dirty. Although the hotel communicate they have wi-fi definitely it was not working.
"Great location and price"
My husband and I stayed at El Conquistador for 9 nights while visiting Buenos Aires and the surrounding areas. For the price, the hotel was a great option for us. We wanted to save money on our hotel so that we could spend money on food, souvenirs, etc. This hotel is a little older, but it has everything you need. They even exchange US dollars for Argentinian pesos (make sure you have 100 dollar bills...they don't like small bills). We also took advantage of the booking services that the hotel has for local tours. We did a three hour bus tour of Buenos Aires and saw a few of the major landmarks (Casa Rosada, Palermo, La Boca, Puerto Madero). We also took a bus to Tigre and then a boat ride on the river. This hotel is located near a bunch of restaurants, cafes, etc. but the prices tend to be a little high. We found more budget friendly options a few blocks south on Calle Lavalle. All in all, we enjoyed our stay at El Conquistador!
"Good value & location"
Stayed here for the majority of our week in BA. Good value, clean, polite/friendly staff, and within walking distance to downtown attractions such as the National Congress and Pink House. Cons: Internet was slow at times and frequently dropped (so we would have to login numerous times in an evening). If you are attempting to work it could be an issue -- since we were on holiday and just using for personal internet browsing it was fine. **If you are the type of person who takes photos of a chipped bathtub or floor and then writes scathing reviews because of it, this hotel isn't for you. It is clean and comfortable but there are small signs of wear in bathrooms and hallways. If your priority is a good, safe, convenient location at a nice, clean, comfortable hotel then this is a fit.
Stayed there for the night only. The hotel is in a great location, and it looks very nice. Room was ok. Breakfast was buffet style, which is always good, and included in the reservation (around $50 on expedia). Wifi was free.
