"Not as good as it was"
Last year I gave this hotel an excellent review and really looked forward to going back, I was therefore disappointed to see that the hotel is looking a little tired. The wallpaper in the room was peeling in several places and the overall appearance was not as crisp as it was. The restaurant which served really good food last year was a real let down this year. Food was not very hot, badly plated which made it look unappetising and generally overall not what I was expecting. The menu was the same as last year, selection of desserts had been reduced and the choice for starters was poor. There seemed a distinct lack of service in the bar, we were kept waiting for at least 20 minutes, despite asking for our order to be taken. The 19th hole also was understaffed with waits of up to 30 minutes at times.Again the menu had not changed and was expensive for what you got £12.00 for a burger and chips. My friend who I went with still thinks that the golf course is an excellent course and enjoyed playing there again. If we return we certainly will only be staying on a bed and breakfast basis, as the number of restaurants in the centre which is a 5 euro taxi drive away are numerous and of a good standard. It would good to see the Elba go back to the standard that it was.
"Winter golf holiday paradise"
This hotel is 5 star - we had breakfast dinner and bed, and the food and wine was excellent, served with humour and friendliness. The rooms were big enough with comfy double bed and big bathroom with bath and shower. The only caveat would be the golf courses in our package - very much holiday courses for medium handicap societies. Rounds were leisurely, the greens and bunkers could be better, but we (six of us, handicaps 13 - 24) had a very enjoyable five rounds, three on Fuerteventura and two on Salimas. We were lucky, the sun shone and the winds were not as strong as they can be.
"Golf over new year"
Again I found a lovely small hotel (61 rooms) come down stairs from your room and there you have every thing , golf shop , where you collect your free range token & pull trolley , 100yrds away there's the driving range & then another 100rds 1st tee to a rather flat course apart from the uphill tee to 17 & 18 then down hill to finish rite outside the club Hse Brill. Across the court yard ( which is shaded from the wind ) is the bar for pre dinner drinks , then next door is the restaurant . I've read that there was not much choice & small portions , the buffet style starters & desserts are plentiful with out the main , I promise you will walk back to the bar to listen to the music & drink STUFFED !!! This is a boutique hotel with all the amenities to hand , beers are 6euros & gin/ tonics range from 11e to 14euros pricey I no but you are on holiday . The temperature at Xmas was 23/25s but it felt like 16 due to the wind. Don't forget to take something warm to wear when your having a beer after the game . Or sit in the shaded court yard . For me this is the best golf / hotel I've visited , just got to talk Andrea back there ( due to the wind)
"NEVER FAILS TO PLEASE!"
This was our second visit to a beautiful Hotel. Everything about the hotel is super! the rooms, the staff, the food. the entertainment is just right for this sort of hotel. Parick is a very talented entertainer. Would highly recommend.
This is a beautiful hotel with a lovely central courtyard and large, plush rooms. I really enjoyed my stay and felt the management and staff couldn't do enough to make everything just right. The only exception was the curly haired maitre d' who was bossy and on occasion rather rude. The breakfasts were plentiful with just about every taste catered to. The selection of food for lunch and dinner was varied and interesting. The absence of children has both up and down sides. It essentially means the guests are on the older side with few younger or middle-aged people around. We missed the variety in age group normally found. The resort is purpose-built and the hotel golf-centred. We don't tend to like tourist centres and used it as a base from which to explore the island. The hotel was certainly the perfect place to do this. Fuerteventura itself is a varied place, for better and worse. We like the Canarian landscapes and escaping the crowd. Any resorts we can across felt very artificial and soulless. Quieter places like Pared and Antigua were well worth searching out though. We would definitely recommend the hotel for a few days of relaxation away from the British winter.
