Hotel is located above Emplisis bay, close to the picturesque port and fishing village of Fiskardo, which is within close proximity; it will take not more than 15 minutes to reach, walking distance. The hotel lies just 1h 15m away from Cephalonia airport and the ferry port of Sami is just 50 minutes away. It is 60klm from Poros port, your destination port if you travel from Kyllini. It takes less than an hour to go to the capital of the island, Argostoli. Many magnificent beaches to choose, closest is just 100m far from the reception area.
"Lovely hotel in a fantastic setting"
We spent a week at the Emelisse Hotel in October, it was quieter but absolutely delightful. The views are outstanding and we were upgraded to a junior suite with a sea view due to the hotel not being full. The rooms are very tasteful, comfy beds with linen changed daily. Breakfast was excellent, fruit, yoghurt, bread, cheese and eggs. The staff were warm and friendly, highly professional. There is a short walk into Fiskardo, about 5 minutes across some scrub land, would recommend a torch to come back at the end of the night though. The area is beautiful, lovely beaches, lots of walks and a splendid hotel! Lovely dog, Benny, in the lobby and a young ginger tom kitten in the grounds to add to the charm!
"Good but not as good as expected"
We stayed for a week at the Emelisse at the end of September for our minimoon. My partner, having stayed a few years ago, was expecting great things but unfortunately the whole experience just didn't quite live up to our expectations of a truly 5* hotel. The positives: - The staff who were absolutely wonderful. Very attentive and helpful, always ensuring we had everything that we needed. - The food at the pool restaurant was really excellent. Much better in my opinion than anything we had in Fiskardo. - The location was excellent. Perched on a cliff top with panoramic views of the bay and only a 5 min walk into Fiskardo. The negatives: - Breakfast. We didn't feel that the room price was cheap so were surprised to hear that only the buffet breakfast was included. You had to pay a lot more if you wanted to order off the a la carte menu. This would have been ok if they changed up the buffet but it was scrambled egg every single day so this was disappointing. - Rooms - we felt they were a little tired and needed updating. Dividing balconies between rooms was only a canvas partition so there was very little privacy with your neighbours and you could hear every word they said. - Unexpected entertainment on the last night! On our last night, we were sitting at dinner in the pool restaurant only to witness a couple having sex right by us on the sofas! This went on for a min of 30 mins and none of the staff did anything at all! Never before I have seen behaviour like this allowed in such an establishment especially when we were aware of kids being around. Overall we enjoyed our stay but felt it didn't quite live up to our high expectations.
"Perfect late summer break"
Booked this holiday as Fiscardo is my husbands favourite place. 60th birthday present and thought adults only when booked with Thomson! Not the hotel's fault but listed wrongly by Thomson as children are allowed with other tour operators. The week we spent there was perfect as there were very few children but I understand summer peak time is manic. The hotel is set is green and luscious grounds which are secluded. Has a frequent shuttle to Fiscardo but there is a short walk which can be made but not by road. We loved the views the breakfast was relaxing and the ambience eating in the evening out by the pool was lovely. The proof in this hotel us that we continually heard people say ' we are glad to be back' some having revisited on numerous occasions. Not one to make a habit of returning but with Fiscardo so close and the hotel so relaxing at this time of year I think we will return
"Beautiful location, and a hotel that grows on you"
We only had the vaguest idea what this hotel would be like, having never been to the island before, because the reviews we'd read hadn't really captured its character. I probably won't do much better but would encourage people to come if they want a beautiful location and a very restful atmosphere. The views north over the channel to Lefkas and north east to Ithaka are stunning but I would ensure you get a room above ground level-the ground floor rooms looking seaward would look straight into a very thick evergreen hedge. The hotel consists of a main building containing reception and the breakfast area plus a very airy lounge, two pools with attached bars, the larger pool also having the main restaurant attached, and numerous separate apartments linked by paths fringed with flowerbeds and olive trees. At first we found this bewildering-a plan would have been useful-but it quickly grew on us. There are some steepish paths but the staff will arrange transport on golf-type buggies around the site. These also link with a minibus shuttle running down to Fiskardo harbour-this is a 10-15 minute walk but steeply uphill coming back. There is a timetable for these buses but they will arrange one out of time if you wish. The atmosphere is laid back but efficient and although we were there almost at the end of the season everything seemed to work well, except the boat trips in the hotel's own boat, which didn't run because not enough people wanted to go: not a problem because there are several which run every day from the harbour. Yes, as some reviewers have said the rooms do seem a bit dark but this also means they stay very cool. The poolside restaurant is pretty expensive, the wine list even more so, but reasonable quality for its location and the breakfasts were as big or small as you prefer. Eating in Fiskardo however is the best bet for the evenings where there is a great choice of restaurants and bars, with the last shuttle bus at 2310. Not exactly a place for vibrant night life if that's what you want, but we had a brilliantly relaxing week. I'd hire a car, however, next time to see a bit more of the island, since there is only one bus a day, which leaves for Argostoli at 0600!
I first visited Fiscardo many years ago and it has always been one of my favourite spots in Greece. After a gap of 16 years we re-visited and were not at all disappointed. It is a beautiful, unspoilt village yet has quite some sophistication with a number over very good restaurants spread around the harbour. Since my last visit, the Emelisse hotel has been built and is a big bonus for a holiday in Fiscardo. The hotel is just a 10 minute walk from Fiscardo and built on the cliffs overlooking the Ionian Sea and enjoys fabulous views. Rooms are primarily in units of four designed almost in a village style across extensive grounds. Rooms are spacious, well equipped and most have excellent sea-views. Overall the facilities are excellent with a gym, large swimming pool and lovely swimming area from the rocks that are easily accessible from the hotel. There are three restaurants, one serving excellent breakfasts and a further two that should meet all tastes. Service is impeccable and nothing is too much trouble for the staff. A big bonus is the shuttle service to and fro the restaurants in Fiscardo. Overall a lovely hotel and one to which we will certainly return.
