The Empire Hotel’s coveted location puts guests within convenient proximity to some of New York’s top attractions. For instance, Just across the street, guests can walk to overlook the renowned Lincoln Center which includes the Metropolitan Opera House, Jazz at Lincoln Center, and Alice Tully Hall, all host to top live performances and major global events in the world all year-round. In the opposite direction, guests will find Central Park and Columbus Circle less than a few short blocks away.
Really enjoyed the experience - bed was very comfortable, the pool/rooftop lounge was fabulous and location was perfect. Definitely plan a return trip. My only comment is that the bathroom on the M floor should be cleaned a bit more often throughout the day.Comment of R. Laila , United States the 2016-06-21

"Wow What A Vibe In This Place!"
I was invited to come here and grab a drink by a friend who was staying at your marvelous hotel on Friday evening. I must say I was very impressed! The bartenders were all extremely friendly and pleasant to chat with. The cocktail waitress who served us drinks while we sat in the lobby.... Vanessa I believe was her name, had a lovely personality and was very sweet and provided quick & top notch service. The lobby DJ was the cherry on top of our evening, as he provided an abundance of upbeat dance music infused with some jazz... such a nice touch to that beautiful room! He was very friendly and full of energy. Overall, everyone from the staff working that night was so pleasant and I plan to return soon with new friends. The rooms inside were very clean, and the I loved the artictecture of the entrire hotel. Thanks for a great evening!
"Good, but not good value."
Stayed at end of November for two nights. Great location and great beds. Room was tiny and bathroom even smaller, very European in setup. But the tipping point is the high cost. We payed about $900 for the two nights, which is too much for this tiny room. Maybe we did not shop well for this room, but I believe I stayed at the Plaza once for less. Very simply, it is very expensive for what is given in return.
"Terrible. Non Existent Customer Service"
We have stayed at the Empire many times over the years. And until our last trip have never had any trouble. We were in NYC for our anniversary in late October and as usual booked a room at the Empire. Got there about 4PM, checked in quickly and then took off for dinner and a show. We were given an interior room on the 11th floor and our air conditioner didn't work a lick. Because the pool is also on that floor it was terribly humid and without being able to open the windows we were miserable all night. We called and asked for maintenance.....they came and supposedly reset something in the unit but it didn't do anything. The night couldn't have been more uncomfortable...hot, humid, stuffy, not a breath of air. We couldn't wait to get out of there in the morning. When we were leaving we ran in to another guest in the elevator with the same complaint. We have placed several calls to the hotel asking to speak to the manager and,as yet, still haven't heard from anyone. It's been a month with no response. Pretty bad customer service especially considering we've stayed there so often over the years. Anyway, they've lost a good customer and we will steer all our friend away as well. Plenty of nice hotels in the area so no reason to stay at the Empire in miserable conditions with beyond poor customer service. Oh, almost forgot to mention, we both ended up sick with bronchitis that lasted several weeks after the visit. We are both sure the sickness was due to the humid, nasty conditions in the room that night. So stay clear of the Empire as there are lots of quality hotels close bye where you won't have such awful conditions and crummy customer service.
I've stayed at Empire during business travel on a few occasions. The service is inconsistent. The heating/cooling system is one thing that is consistently bad. This trip, there were two staff members who were really great (Patrick and Michael). I wasn't impressed with the others.
" Boutique hotel with Amazing music"
The hotel is located in a centra location, every thing was within walking distance. Subway station up the block, plenty of shopping areas and great restaurants. The DJ last night was playing some amazing music! A special name mention to Maria the manager and Patrick for being so very pleasant when we asked for eating and lounging suggestions in the middle of the night. Will most definitely be back again.
