Just returned from cruise, had to wait 8 hrs for flight. So decided to get a day pool pass $20 best move ever the hotel is amazing/immaculate presented. The pool area was perfect just the right size with two lovely pools, and enough sun beds and seating area. The use of the sauna and changing rooms was the best I've experienced. It's a good idea for day pass to let people experience a small part of the hotel will defiantly be booking a stay at a kimpton hotel group
No running hot water in hotel. Front desk doesnt ever, answer phone. Lots of construction at hotel. Not good for families. Parking is out of control. Loaded with 20 somethings whoe arevattending the numerous clubs in the hotel.
"Average Small conference experience."
This hotel is average at best. I attended a conference there recently. Property has a good location, however request water view, otherwise you'll mostly be viewing the high rise next door. Comfortable rooms, not ready till 4:00 pm, with some rooms without balcony furniture, at least on side without view. The worst buffet I've experienced in some time at a business dinner meeting. Pool deck still covered for the winter, but weather in Miami during March was ready, bummer! All together, this facility is not well run.
"Great City Hotel"
Epic has a great location in Miami and has a very cool vibe. I had a room over looking the Port of Miami as well as Biscayne Blvd. The lobby is very cool and the wine tasting at night is a nice touch. The room was a good size although be careful as the noise from the bar on a Friday drifts up and can be noisy even 10 floors above. The 16th floor bar had a bit of a cheap feel to it and I wouldn't consider it a scene place but there were quite a few people when I was there. One a Friday morning at 7:00 trying to have a cab hailed was impossible as there was no doorman valet front desk person to be found.
I had high expectations for the Epic. But the staff was not as friendly as I'd hoped for a Kimpton property. The gentlemen at check-in was awesome, and I'm sure it was clear that I was excited to stay there. The housekeepers were also the nicest people I encountered. The guy at check-out though was a completely arrogant when I had a simple issue with some room service billing. The overnight lady also wasn't much help when trying to find some places to go late at night. She just stared at us. Great property, good amenities, and fantastic location. Also called ahead of arrival to make sure the bed sizes were queens and came to find they were not... somewhat tough to sleep 4 people in the two bed rooms.
