Stayed here the night before our cruise. The appointments were luxe and service was spectacular. The view from our room atop the hotel was fabulous -- the nights at light were amazing and view of water and canals very interesting. Very noisy outside as you would expect but once the balcony door was closed it was so quiet and relaxing. Our suite was very roomy and bathroom design with 'open air' plan was very light and airy. We enjoyed our stay.
"Very nice this hotel!"
The hotel there's a good location, the view of the room is amazing, very confie, trendy and good price, I really love it! The Japanese restaurant is so good, every time That I go to Miami I wanna eat there!
Nice location, several nice restaurants in the building, Zuma is top one. The only concern is the extremely late check in time, 4:00 PM. Walking distance to several restaurants and shops. The staff are friendly as well.
"A bit disappointing"
We had three nights at the Epic and to be honest we were a bit disappointed. The key factor in choosing the Epic was the pool. We wanted to ensure that we had a base from which we could explore Miami but also that we had somewhere to return to for some time in the sun each afternoon. Unfortunately whilst there is a nice pool area, it is effectively in a wind tunnel that means that unless the weather is perfect it is not pleasant enough to sit out. We tried a couple of times but gave up after half an hour on both occasions. Whilst I accept that we were a little unfortunate with the weather, it certainly wasn't cold walking around town or on the beach, but when you got up to the 16th floor, the other skyscrapers around provided a tunnel for the wind that blew straight into the Epic's pool area. The hotel itself was ok. It felt like a business hotel and I thought it was poor that we were offered no assistance with our luggage on checking in. Not what I expect for £200+ a night. Free wine in the afternoon was a bonus. The quality of wine, however, meant that we didn't return for this benefit after day one. I am not against a glass of ribena but it shouldn't come in a wine glass. The Japanese restaurant was excellent and it was busy until late which is the sign of a good restaurant. We very much enjoyed our meal there. The room service food was also good and the wifi worked well and was free as a Kimpton member. The hotel is very well positioned and offers a great spot from which to explore Miami.
We visited the Kimpton EPIC hotel for a pre cruise visit. The staff was nice and overall the visit was fine. We wanted to have a bit more space for the family and we booked a junior suite. When we came up to the room we were greeted with a dirty sofa, beat up desk and chairs and oddly no coffee maker. Also the pull out sofa was a double instead of a queen size. The view was a closed pool to the left and a construction area to the right. The staff did work out some of the issues and when we left we felt satisfied. For the same money we could have booked a better view and updated room at a different property. My parting thoughts are that for this room rate, they need to pay attention to details. The dirty sofa is the first thing you see when you enter the room. We paid a substantial amount for this visit and the value and luxury equation was off. Maybe when they renovate it can be worth a second visit.
