What an amazing, awesome hotel. Everything (check in, room layout/size/facilities) felt 100% until my final night. I'd left at 07:00 & came back at 11:30 & my room has not been made up. A note under my door said they'd been unable to make up my room. A cart full of dirty laundry etc was at my door, not a pleasant sight / smell after a long day. My phone's were not working in the room. So I went to reception to request shampoo & conditioner. I wasn't really that bothered, just wanted to get clean and get some sleep. Til now, I figured something reasonable must've happened for the basic service not to have happened. Receptionist was less than interested. She basically intimated it must've been my fault the room was unmade. If my red light was on (' Red light'') Then the room wouldn't have been made. In other words, there's a system to put a do not disturb light on - I still don't know how you do this. I asked about late check out & was dismisively told to check back the next day'! It was nearly midnight by this point ... Surely someone could have told me if this was a possibility of not at this time of night''' This review may sound pernickity. I was in a conference of 700 people & we regularly meet in Miami. I spent the first three evenings showing the hotel off to my colleagues. I was gutted that I was totally invisible to the receptionist tonight. It saddened me that there was a weak link in the otherwise diamond chain of my experience of the Epic. I really thought I'd found some where special, where you'd be looked after no matter what. Sometimes it's the little things that make it break an opinion.
"A Kimpton gem"
The Epic offers the perfect blend of Miami vibe spliced with downtown refinement. Like all Kimpton properties, it's curated to be one of a kind so you can forget that you are on that business trip. Everything from the random monkey sculptures in the bar to the 16th floor pool just fits. And you can't beat the complimentary happy hour from 5-6. I arrived late and they comped me a drink - a nice touch from a great staff. You are also a block from the Whole Foods which gives you access to one of the nicest of its kind. It's a great spot to pick up wine or breakfast and coffee in the morning. Rooms are beautiful, as are the balcony views. Only nitpick is the gym with no views (Mandarin is much nicer) and lack of access to a sauna. Certainly will be a return destination.
We stayed at the Kimpton Epic prior to our cruise. The hotel is beautiful. Our room was spacious and the balcony was large. Great view of the bay and a city view also. We spent some time by the pool and the staff was great. We will definitely return to this hotel.
"A great setting"
Only stayed a one night pre cruise but slept very well in a lovely bed despite the jet lag. Enjoyed dining at Zuma on the ground floor. Such welcoming staff there. Loved our easy walk to Bayside Park too.
"Good hotel in downtown Miami"
We enjoyed our stay here, very modern hotel with very nice pools that have amazing views. The staff were extremely on point and friendly, the restaurant downstairs serves the best sushi I had tried within the USA. Steps to brand new whole foods in case you need anything.
