"No air conditioning"
This hotel turns off their air conditioning so the rooms are very uncomfortable and stuffy. To make things worse the front desk doesn't seem to know it's turned off for the season. I called about the air not working and a quickly rising temp, they said they'd send someone right up. An hour later no one showed, I called again, and was only then informed I should just open the windows and basically deal with it. I'm not picky about furniture, but it looks like everything in my room came from a dumpster.
"Blowing the basics...or not blowing the basics"
When we entered our room, it was very hot and stuffy. Turned the function to "cool" and fan to "high." Went away for dinner. Came back. Still hot and really stuffy. Tried to call down to the desk but nobody answered. Went down to the front desk and described the problem. Poor young woman behind the desk had to tell me "The AC has been turned off for the season." What' "We suggest you turn the system off entirely, so that it doesn't blow warm air, and open the window." Opening the window meant letting in the roar of machinery running at the bottom of the air shaft. But that's all we could do in the end, and not that that cooled the room down or freshened the air much anyway. $300+ a night should get you ventilation. Unbelievable behavior on the part of the hotel owner / manager, and a crime to put the young front-desk people in the position of defending the indefensible.
"Who's been in my room'''!!!"
NEVER EVER STAY AT THIS HOTEL!!!!! If I could give this hotel and the management zero stars I would. I made reservations for two nights for a room with 2 beds. When I checked in I was told the room wasn't ready but we could leave our luggage and return to check in later. I called at 4:30 that afternoon to explain we would be returning late and wanted to make sure we had a guaranteed late arrival for our room with 2 beds. When we got to the hotel a little after 11pm we were told there were no rooms with 2 beds available but they would give us 2 rooms instead. The next morning we left the hotel after speaking with the desk staff briefly about breakfast and didn't return until after 8pm. Upon arriving back that second night my sister was unable to get into her room and my room had not been cleaned or the bed made up. The desk staff reissued my sister a key to her room and when she entered the room someone else's belongs were in the room. She returned to the desk and found her personal belongs in a clear plastic bag along with her suitcase on the floor behind the desk! We were told that one of the morning staff had told us we would be moved to a different room. This notification NEVER happened!! They story made no sense as if they were moving us why move one of us out and not the other and why wasn't my sisters belongs moved INTO the new room'! Their actions RUINED our weekend. But that wasn't the end. The morning we left we were promised a call from the hotel manager on Monday morning. It took countless calls, messages left, emails sent, calls to corporate offices, calls to management company offices before we finally got a call back from Ms.Paula Reynoso the hotel manager only to be told that my sister moved her own things out of her own room! Upon further questioning it appears that the person who was given my sisters room gathered up my sisters belonging and brought them down to the front desk!!!! OUTRAGEOUS! NEVER EVER STAY AT THIS HOTEL!!!!!
My flight was delayed and i arrived at Dylan after 1:30am to be told that my prepaid booking was cancelled by Hotels.com. THe hotel had no explanation as to why hotels.com cancelled my reservation. To make matters worse, they were completely sold out. I contacted hotels.com and was told that my reservation was still active and they would never cancel a customers booking without the customer's consent. So basically what happened was Dylan assumed I wasn't showing up and gave my room away and the only lie they could come up with was that hotels.com cancelled my booking. Hotels.com was accommodating. THey refunded me my money and assisted me in finding another hotel near by. The front desk guy was a total jerk as well. If you require a late check in, beware!
"Decent sized clean room near Grand Central Station"
I stayed here 2 nights in November. This older, small hotel is in a good midtown location. One block over from a Grand Central Station, a few blocks away from Bryant park and a 10 minute walk from Times Square. My room was decent sized, clean and quiet. The bed was comfortable. My only issues was that it was a bit warm. I suspect this was do to unseasonably warm temperature outside. Overall this was a good value.
