We got an incredible deal on this hotel, so it's difficult for me to criticize. I would say that if I paid full price i would be disappointed. This hotel is said to be 4 stars, to me that is debatable. What I loved besides the great price we got' The location! Right by Grand Central. Not a very busy street, not too much noise. Good sized room for Manhattan. Staff was friendly and helpful. What didn't I like' The bed was very uncomfortable and did not have good pillows. The staff did bring us a few more. There are a few stains on carpets, which doesn't necessarily bother me except that this hotel is listed as being a 4 star. They just need to do some remodeling/upgrades. I would stay here again if the price was right.
"One day stay "
Location is pretty good ,, but hotels lobby area was very tiny,, rooms are small too I went there w my two kids ,, They also charged for parking a car 59$,, 😟😟😟 Bathroom was so cold that we had to open the door there for a while to be able to take a shower,, was no hair conditioner in shower,,
"Blew it BIG TIME!"
We checked into the Dylan and received a room that apparently had not been fully stocked. There were no glasses in the bathroom, one hand towel, and only one wine glass over the mini bar. We asked for a second wine glass and were brought a water glass... Okay, I get that's being overly picky, but where they really blew it was by not honoring my request for a wake up call. We asked for an 8am call, and were assured it would be taken care of. We had a car service coming to take us to LGA at 9:30. My wife woke up at 9:10 after not getting the call and we had to rush like crazy to meet the car... The front desk clerks only excuse was that he just started his shift...
"Unprofessional Front desk"
1.) plaster is falling from wall 2.) Torn curtains 3.) FD didn't find my third party booking reservation. After showing a confirmation the agent responded "Well, we will ALLOW you to stay the night". Like it was a privilege. 4.) A/C did not work in any of the three rooms I tried. FD agent made me follow him around to the different floors until their was a room that did have it...and it still didn't work! 5.) FD agents were completely inconsiderate, rude and very snooty. Not classy at all! The girls would speak in another language while whispering and pointing at me. It's fine, though, it only reflects poorly on their character not mine. So, if you want to be looked down on and treated like a peasant, this hotel is great!
"You get what you pay for in NYC!!"
This hotel is unsafe and has no AC. Our first night the fire alarms went off at 12:30 am. We hiked down from the 16th floor only to be met by restaurant staff who suggested we take the elevator, a lobby full of angry firemen when the hotel was unable to direct them to the false alarm and a very overwhelmed front desk person. Once allowed to go back to our rooms (only indication was the alarm stopped and the fire dept left - the front desk person never even acknowledged that we were there - in our PJs) we were able to get back to sleep only to be awoken at 6:30 am to a room that was 86 degrees and the fire alarm sounding again. We spoke to the front desk (twice) before they finally sent someone to our room to turn the heating system off. Just because the panel on the wall says OFF does not mean it's off, we were told ('''). Do not rely at all on wake up calls. One morning it came 45 min. late and the second morning did not come at all. Thankfully the fire alarm went off at 7:00 am, and 7:20 am to wake up for a second morning in a row. I do not trust that in a true emergency situation the staff at the Dylan would have a clue what to do. We slept for 4 nights with all of the windows open (there are 4) but got no cross breeze. 38 degrees outside, 70 in the room.
