"Great Location in NYC"
The Evanti is in a great location. The rooms are very comfortable. The staff is great. Julia, at the front desk is very helpful. She made great suggestions for things to do and good restaurants. This is our go to hotel in New York.
"Very convenient for a short stay"
We stayed here for 5 nights around Thanksgiving and found it to be very convenient for everything. Rooms were spacious, bathroom huge with walk-in shower. Large floor to ceiling windows but sadly we were on wrong side for views. Slight problem in getting tea bags and milk to use with the kettle and was charged $16.50 for a pot of tea. Used the bar once and the restaurant once. Both fine but expensive as is the norm in NY. Wifi was great but only free if you join the Karma rewards program. As a base where you don't spend all day in the room its great. Disabled friendly which was a bonus for us.
"Great room, fabulous onsite cafe/restaurant "
We stayed as a family of 4 (2 children 8 and 9) for 6 nights at the beginning of Jan. I choose the hotel as we could get a seperate bedroom and based on good reviews. It exceeded our expectations. The room was quite roomy for NYC standards, esp the bathroom, and lovely quality. We had a view of the Empire State Building which was a bonus. What we loved the most was the atmosphere of the hotel and the great eating areas within the hotel. Breakfast was great in the cafe, the Italian restaurant was also fabulous and had a really bustling atmosphere. Given it was cold and snowing when we were there it was great to have so many options onsite, esp with young children, if we didn't want to head out. It was lovely to have a drink at the end of the day downstairs and the kids were always welcome. Good location too if you're not in NYC too long and want to be close to a lot of things without being right in midtown. 2 blocks to the subway, walking distance to Empire State and plenty of restaurants and shopping on the door step. Would highly recommend for family travellers.
"Very dissappointed with their level of service."
We are members of the Karma rewards program and always stay at Kimpton hotels whenever possible. Sadly, they do not care about their regular clients as was clearly evident during our visit. We had a free night awarded to us through the program. We called and were assured that there would not be a problem linking up the reservations as you have to book the free night via a separate phone line and we were staying for two days. On the second day, we were locked out of our room. They did not link up the reservations and we were late heading to an event as we had to go downstairs and wait in line at the front desk to have our room keys reset. Also, we requested an early check in and the Rep assured us that she would put in a request. Upon arrival we made sure the folks at the front desk knew we were waiting in the lobby and the receptionist assured us he would come get us the moment a room became available. After constant checking in every hour, 3 hours later, closer to 3pm we noticed they were checking in groups ahead of us. We went back to the front desk and made it clear that we had been waiting and that someone was supposed to come and let us know when a room was available. I'm not sure if they were completely disorganized or putting us low down on their priority list because of the free night...like they were doing us a favor instead of treating us like loyal clients, but that was completely unacceptable. We put in a complaint with the manager to make them aware of all the mishaps so that they could make improvements in their service standards. Sadly, instead of listening to our concerns and understanding where we were coming from, she was being argumentative and defensive. Seems like their service took a turn after being bought out by IHG. We were never treated this poorly before. They have lost the business of some very loyal travelers.
"Nice hotel middle of Manhatten"
I booked a room at this hotel for a week long stay over New Years day. The location was centrally located in the middle of Manhatten. While a little pricey, it was to be expected over the holiday. The room was beautifully furnished if what I would consider a little on the small side. I did have a great view of the Empire State Building. The staff was very polite and helpful. I didn't try any of the restaurants but I did order room service a couple of times. The food arrived in a timely manner and was very good. The only downside that I really have to mention would be the spa. I booked a 80 minute hot stone massage. The massage was more of a body rub than a massage. And as I get massages on a monthly basis, I feel fairly well qualified to know the difference. Overall though, I would stay at this hotel again.
