Excellence Playa Mujeres Adults Only All Inclusive is located on the beach in Playa Mujeres, close to Playa Mujeres Golf Club and El Meco Archaeological Site.
Hotel was great. We had a room on first floor and I could hear people talking and service carts rolling by at all hours. If I went back I would stay on the top floor and request a more secluded area.Comment of C. Jason , United States the 2015-10-21

"Second visit even better than the first!"
We first visited Excellence Playa Mujeres last February at the recommendation of friends who had been twice. Loved it so much we came back this past weekend! Had a room in the excellence club - definitely worth the extra $ for the perks. It is truly all inclusive (food, drinks, mini bar, room service!) with nightly entertainment as well. The staff goes above and beyond and are genuinely friendly and helpful. We will be returning for round three next year if we can!
Can't say enough about this property. Great attention to detail, excellent staff and beautiful rooms. Restaurants all seem to be very good. Would definitely come back again and again. Paying extra for an excellence club room is worth it if you want to be spoiled.
Fabulous resort. You want for nothing. It has something for everyone. It wasn't too large, you didn't have to line up for breakfast, and most of all the staff and service was top notch! We've been to at least 14 resorts in the area (had not been to this area before so wasn't sure what to expect but was great). This was by far the best we have been to for an Adults Only resort. Like every resort, you have to get up early if you want a decent seat by the pool but almost every chair was under the grass hut so you didn't have to fight for shade like some resorts. We went Jan 6 to Jan 13 and usually travel in March or April. The weather wasn't the greatest but would love to return probably March or April. Bars are all well stocked, bartenders are amazing and special mention to our pool server "Baez" who looked after us and always had a great big smile and amazing service! All the wait staff and employees at the resort were friendly, attentive and all seemed happy. Sorry we didn't get the bartenders names but they were the best! The rooms were perfect (except of course the toilet which everyone else has already mentioned). If you're a big foodie, you might be a bit disappointed ... food is good and great presentation but if you're a foodie, it wasn't over the top. We enjoyed it. The wait for the restaurants might be an hour plus which was fine with us but suggest you go an hour before you want to eat to book the reservation. We only saw a few shows cause we were at the restaurants but what we saw were first class and entertaining. All in all it was top rate and definitely would like to go again (providing they keep the price where it's at)!
"Best 5* resort in Mexico!"
We stayed at excellence playa mujeres in mid September 2016 last year (apologies for the late review & length)! The resort is absolutely beautiful! The staff are all so friendly & helpful! From the moment you arrive you are treated like royalty! We were greeted with a glass of champagne on arrival! It pays to inform the hotel if you are celebrating a special birthday or engagement. When we got to our room it was decorated with balloons, they left us a cake & bottle of champagne! These extra touches really make this place special! We did not upgrade to excellence club as we felt that the extra charge was not worth it. We were thrilled with our room, every type of room at the hotel is exceptional. All have a huge queen size four poster bed, your own minibar with premium alcohol! And every room has its own private balcony & jacuzzi! Each room has a flat screen tv with DVD player, there are a couple of English channels that show the news & films daily. It is worth speaking to the hotel prior to your stay & requesting in advance a room with a pool view or sea view. And a room in blocks 7, 8 or 9 as these blocks are closest to the beach & main pool area. It is worth requesting a room on floor 2 or 3 as these have the best views. For security & privacy I would recommend getting a room on a higher floor. The resort is a true all inclusive resort, all food & drink at breakfast lunch & dinner are included (except for some bottles of wine). Room service is also included! There are 10 restaurants in the resort! All are of a very good standard, however at some of the A la carte restaurants the portions are small. Out of the 10 restaurants the best meals we had were at Barcelona and the Grill. We visited these twice! The Service at both of these restaurants were exceptional. The Grill is one of two outdoor restaurants, it overlooks the beach so it's the perfect restaurant to visit under candlelight at dinner. We celebrated my dads 60th birthday here & we were well looked after! They had a surprise cake for him to top off the night! They also do dinner on the beach but it's not worth the extra charge, dinner in the grill is just as amazing at night. At the flavour market, portions are so small, even for a tapas bar. We had to order room service afterwards as dinner was not great. Las Olas, the snack grill on the beach is also great for lunch. They serve different cuisines every day. Also try the handmade pizza by the beach, absolutely delicious! The restaurants do get very busy around 7/8pm, so it's worth getting to dinner for 6.30 latest to avoid queuing. As the first shows often start from 8pm, it pays to get to dinner earlier. Attire in all restaurants for dinner is strictly smart/dressy for both men & women! Men have to wear collared shirts & smart shorts/trousers with smart shoes. For breakfast & lunch the dress code is more relaxed but you need to cover up swimwear. The evening entertainment is great! There are nightly shows with different themes every night! The Micheal Jackson show & the white night on the beach are amazing! If you want a club atmosphere at night, then maybe a hotel in central Cancun would be better. But the entertainment at excellence goes on until 11pm every night, with most bars open until 11pm. The sports bar stays open until 1am! We went on one excursion during our trip! Only book excursions through the hotel (do not book any at the airport). We visited the chichen itza Mayan ruins & cenote Ik kil. It was a truly breathtaking experience and worth the money! It is a long trip so make sure the tour company you travel with uses an air conditioned coach with a toilet. Also bring a hat, lots of water & sunblock as it gets very hot at chichen itza! The main pool does get busy during the day but there are 6 other pools that are quieter (two excellence club only) and in more secluded areas if you want more privacy. Once again it is not necessary to have excellence club, you can find a quieter pool in non excellence too. You aren't allowed to reserve towels around the pool & beach but we got up by 7am every morning, just before breakfast we would put our towels down by the pool or beach. The service at the non excellence club beach is amazing! They still have waiters on this part of the beach, who will bring you cocktails & bar food when requested! They have stunning beach beds on this part of the beach too, but you have to get these early! There is no distinction between the excellence club part of the beach & non excellence. Finally we did tip everywhere! Both Mexican pesos and dollars can be used, use whatever has the best exchange rate. We are from England & brought mainly dollars & some Pesos. It's not mandatory to tip but most people do! Staff are on a low wage so it's good to tip when you can. We would tip $5 dollars at the pool & beach when a waiter brought our drinks over and $10 at lunch & dinner if the service was good! I found that the service improved when we tipped. Be careful though as some staff go overboard and will expect a tip for every drink served. I could not recommend a better hotel! It's truly a 5 start resort!! I would also join the Facebook group 'we love excellence playa mujeres' before you travel. You can ask questions on the page & get great tips for your stay from previous guests!
"Best of the Best All-Inclusives in Cancun Area"
Outstanding accommodations. Stayed in one of the two-story units with plunge pool on the roof. Way more room than two people need. Big shower and jetted tub. Lots of marble and tile. All of the restaurants are very good. Some require reservations. The French restaurant was the best; reserve early. Good variety of after dinner entertainment.Top shelf spirits and mixers in the room and at all bars.
