Excellence Playa Mujeres Adults Only All Inclusive is located on the beach in Playa Mujeres, close to Playa Mujeres Golf Club and El Meco Archaeological Site.
Hotel was great. We had a room on first floor and I could hear people talking and service carts rolling by at all hours. If I went back I would stay on the top floor and request a more secluded area.Comment of C. Jason , United States the 2015-10-21

Room was clean and huge. Cleaned 2 times a day and the fridge refilled daily. The grounds were large but did not feel like you had to walk miles to enjoy all the different venues. Clean and beautifully maintained.
"Beautiful views, Beautiful people, Beautiful experience"
My husband and I just returned from our honeymoon at EPM. This was our first time at any type of all inclusive resort. We now have pretty high standards! The staff is very accommodating, the food is fantastic, and the grounds are just beautiful. My pro tip for the stay was to be able to try all the different restaurants - go to one for appetizers and then leave and go to anther for your main meal. The staff does not mind and you can even order a main dish as an appetizer due to the portions being small and share with whomever you are with. However, don't let the small portions fool you as you will never go hungry at EPM. If you are ever unsure of what to order for a drink or food - the staff make great recommendations. We stayed in an EC pool view swim up suite in building 8B. It was perfect because that area was quite and very close to the EC beach. So if we wanted to get away from the fun (more to come on this later) at the main pool or we wanted to relax in our jacuzzi we had a quite pool near by and a bar that was never crowded - Cielo Bar. The EC beach concierge Edgar was a joy to be around and always helpful. He knew our names after the first day and even surprised my husband with a long stem rose to give to me. It was a totally romantic surprise for me. Edgar scored my husband some major points that day! While on topic about EC beach - I will really miss Juliana. She was one of the waitresses and always kept us hydrated. It was lovely to see her smiling face in the mornings as we walked down and being greeted as "Bonita". She is truly an asset to EPM. When we told her on our last day we would be leaving early the next morning she came right from around the bar and gave us both big hugs and was sad to see us go. The sentiment was definitely mutual! We spend a lot of our time near the main pool. Our usual routine was EC beach in the morning then to the main pool in the afternoon to take part in activities. Jorge and other activity coordinator (I'm blanking on her name right now) were always energetic and fun. They were there to get people involved and once we participated in one of their activities we came back every day we were there. My husband really enjoyed beach and pool volley ball. I really enjoyed watching while in the lounge chairs and hanging out at Sol Bar. The Pizza at Sol bar was always a quick delicious lunch and very convenient for being at the main pool. The bartender, David, in the afternoons always took good care of us and was very friendly. In the evenings Tonatiuh was excellent company to have at Sol Bar - you have to ask him to make you some of his very own special recipe cocktails. They are FANTASTIC! He is also a very kind and welcoming person with a huge personality. Our new friendship with him is definitely valued - we were upset that we didn't get a formal chance to say goodbye. If you see this Tona - we will see you next time - keep in touch! Bernardo was also hilarious and great company to have - he is usually in Toscana during breakfast and at The Grill during lunch. As you can see it is really the people at that make EPM such a great place. You end up leaving what feels like family behind by the end of your stay. I now see what everyone meant when they said that because it couldn't be more true! This was truly one of the best experiences of my lifetime and I'm glad I got to share it with my husband. Thank you again to all of the staff for taking care of us!
"Anniversary trip Excellence"
We had a great experience at Excellence Playa Mujeres for our Anniversary. We had a swim up suite in Building 8. That ended up being a great place. It was quite so we could focus on us, whereas at the main pool its loud and there was always a lot going on. Luckily that's where the groups tended to hang out during the day. So the side pools/lazy rivers were a great respite from all else. Meals were great, breakfast buffet at Tuscany was awesome. Dinner at Lobster House was just ok, food wise. Location views were awesome, but the food was lacking just a bit. Our favorite restaurant was Flavor Market, the tapas bar, had many of our favorite dishes from travels in Spain, wasn't too crowded, and service was really good. They messed up our order our first evening at Flavor, and implored us to come back, so we did, and they wowed us with an amazing meat and cheese board that was presented very well. Service was good, not great. Everyone was friendly, but I never felt like they went out of their way. Ultimately I would prefer to give a 4.5. I rounded up to five (as opposed to down to four) because of value. Relative to what we spent, the service was great, the food choices were great, the accommodations were very nice. In absolute terms, however, I would not say that the service rated comparably with our stays at Four Seasons/Ritz. Only reason I bring those up, because I had seen in reviews where they were compared against each other, and I don't disagree. The other area where I was a bit taken aback was that since it was a bit more affordable, there were some parties/groups that took away from the ambiance. We selected this location looking for a quiet romantic getaway, and the large/loud/drunken group "surfing" on floating rafts, was a turn-off. All in all this was a great place and we will return.
"Heaven with a beach"
This is the best resort I have been to yet in the Cancun/Riviera Maya area. The check in was quick and easy, not a hassle at all. They were able to accommodate us all with close rooms, only one room separating our room from the other 2 rooms in our group. The lazy river was fantastic. We had a great time hanging out there when the swim up bar closed down. The alcohol, treats and other drinks in the room were replenished quickly and with what you wanted. They would also stop by and ask if you needed anything. I wrote a comment on their survey at breakfast that my phone only worked using speaker phone. That afternoon the phone was replaced. I also commented that the sun mirrors were really high for short people. They actually came in and took them down!!! Superb service!! The food was good, we didn't eat at all places but the Hibachi was great in the Asian restaurant. The lobster at lobster house was average, was really hoping for better, but oh well. Presentation of food at all restaurants was great! The Toscana for breakfast was delicious and would fit anyone's dietary or ethnic needs. The beach was great, very clean, little seaweed but it was cleaned up each morning. The beds outside the room, if you had a swim up room on ground floor, were awesome to lay on. The gym is very nice, very modern and newer equipment. This resort is definitely on my list to go back to! Excellence it is!!!
"Best Trip Ever!"
My husband and I recently went to this resort for our 1st anniversary. We have previously stayed at a different chains all inclusive resort (see previous reviews). Excellence blew our past experience out of the water! This resort was absolutely amazing. All of the food was very good, we had room service twice a day, got something from las olas (a beach buffet with different options everyday) everyday, and ate dinner at the lobster house, toscana, the grill, agave, the sports bar, and Chez Isabelle. Everything was very good with the food at Chez Isabelle and Toscana being the best. This is the first time I haven't gotten sick from a resorts food, so I was thrilled about that, but beyond that the food also tasted so good, we were really impressed! The room was huge and very nice, but the bathroom is not private as others have mentioned. This was fine for us as we have been together a long time, but something to be aware of. The shower and in room jacuzzi were amazing. We did end up getting a mattress topper mid way through our trip and will just request one next time! We stayed in the Excellence Club in a swim-up in 7b. We loved where we were because we were on a club pool and everything was very private and quiet. The beach did have some seaweed, but this is most likely due to the storm, they worked very hard to clean it up though and it did not stop us from enjoying the beach every day. However, the best part of this resort is the people. Everyone there was amazing and really went above and beyond to make sure we had a wonderful time. There are to many to mention, but some favorites were Manuel, our 7b pool concierge, Erick the EC beach concierge, Juliana, the EC beach server, Jonny our agave server, Lorna our Toscana server, Israel our Chez server, Cesar our Tampa friend at the martini bar, Cesar and Edgar at the sports bar, and everyone at the EC lounge. Every morning I walked into the EC lounge and they immediately went to get my standard 1 mimosa and 2 tecate light, they remembered after the first day! These people really made our trip and our the whole reason we are going back next year!! The only slight downside we experienced was that there were several larger groups there while we were there. This is a romantic resort and while most groups were very polite, some could be very loud during dinner and shows. This would not stop us from coming back, just something to be aware of, I'm am sure the resort would move you to a quieter area if you asked and the EC club pools are quiet a bit quieter which is nice if you want to relax. All in all, we had an amazing trip and would recommend this resort to anyone, we are already planning our trip for next year!
