Excellence Playa Mujeres Adults Only All Inclusive is located on the beach in Playa Mujeres, close to Playa Mujeres Golf Club and El Meco Archaeological Site.
Hotel was great. We had a room on first floor and I could hear people talking and service carts rolling by at all hours. If I went back I would stay on the top floor and request a more secluded area.Comment of C. Jason , United States the 2015-10-21

"Our seventh visit and loved it just as much as the first!"
We have been back to this resort several times and we obviously LOVE it! We do stay in the Excellence Club ( which I would highly recommend)... Room with the rooftop terrace is totally worth it and having access to private pool and beach space in addition to the rest of the resort is wonderful. All of the people who work there are incredibly nice, and our favorite waiter Bernardo was even so thoughtful to give us "bon Voyage" gift this year that he and his daughter picked out for us. Food is great and we love tequila and they have a great selection.... you will have a great time :)
This is not your typical Cancun Spring Break resort. The location is about 40 minutes north of the hotel district and far from crowds. We never left the resort but who would want to. Excellence Club upgrade: We did it and would do it again. You get a private beach and several quiet private pools and a lounge. If you will spend all your time in the main pool I would maybe not do the EC. The service is fantastic even if you don't pay for the upgrade but we really enjoyed the private beach. It was quiet and beautiful. Edgar the beach Concierge and Julianna the beach waitress were wonderful. Room: We got the two story with the roof pool. Enjoyed it but didn't use it enough to do it again. We loved the beach. It was clean, spacious and comfortable. The mattress is firm but we like that. Food: We expected cruise ship level so didn't have high expectations. The food was really good and we are foodies. Our favorite restaurants were Basmati (Indian) and Agave (Mexican). We also like Las Olas on the beach for lunch. Daily themed small buffet. It's covered and in the sand so you didn't have to get dressed or wear shoes. Service: This is where Excellence shines! Everyone smiles and says hello. Managers right through to the people doing landscaping! Most spoke English really well and were eager to help in any way. Overall: We travel a lot and usually my husband is ready to leave by the end but not here. It was so relaxing and beautiful. I can't wait to go back and also try the other Excellence resorts.
"An oasis away from Cancun"
Had a wonderful stay here; the room was luxurious and clean, the staff were attentive and friendly and the food was delicious! I've been to many luxurious hotels down the coast, and also visited many hotels in the hotel zone in Cancun. Cancun to me isn't the most pretty town around, so to be located away from the hustle and bustle is lovely. If you want to go out and party all the time or spend time looking around shops- taxis can get quite expensive and it's a bit of a trek. This hotel is perfect for relaxation-away from it all. Did I also mention there are no kids here' Excellent! It's best to visit during the warmer months, I've stayed here during Christmas and it was a little chilly in the lazy river!
Just back from a week at this resort. Nothing to add to the glowing comments others have made regarding the staff, food, drinks, rooms, grounds. All top of the line. The beach is good, with surf kept low by the reef effect of Isla Margarita a couple of miles offshore. They do a pretty good job sweeping up the seaweed that washes up on the sand, a common problem all along the Yucatan coast. The evening entertainment is better than at other resorts we've been to. A good illusionist ("magic") show one night, excellent fire jugglers another. I'm an Old Person, so the Madonna impersonator wasn't my thing, but the dancers were quite good. I've been traveling in Mexico on and off since the 1950s, and can attest that the menu at Agave (the Mexican restaurant) is a nice representation of different regional dishes, well prepared and presented. I note in other reviews an occasional complaint about check-in. At any of these resorts there will be uncertainty about your room availability until about 3 for purely logistical reasons. If you arrive before 3, check in, leave your bags, have some lunch, walk around the grounds, get oriented (the layout can confuse you a bit at first). Relax. That's what you came for. By about 3 you'll be set. The room decor is elegant but subdued. I personally would replace the black and white splotch decorator-grade painting with something bright, a splash of color to remind us that we are in Mexico. Birds: a few pelicans, frigate-birds, cormorants along with the usual gulls, noisy yellow and black fellows, hummingbirds. Numerous iguanas. In general less wildlife than you would see along the coast south of Cancun (e.g. Maroma, Playa del Carmen, Akumal). For snorkeling they take you to Isla Mujeres ($50). Total: great resort. Similar to Secrets Maroma Beach, maybe marginally better overall in many respects. Last week there were numerous Canadians, some Brits, a scattering of others. One set of drunk Americans got in a brief, noisy fight one night but that was the only sour note.
"8 Days of Excellence"
This was our second stay at an Excellence resort (we stayed at Riviera Cancun the last time). Everything about this resort is wonderful. We stayed at the in an Excellence Club Junior Swim up suite which was perfect. We spent every day lounging at the pool right outside our room. Manuel, the pool concierge, made every day extra special and Raul, our waiter, made sure we were never thirsty (hahaha). Our room was beautiful and the concierge, Gwendoline Flores, made sure there were special touches ...including decorating our tub with rose petals. Our favorite restaurant is Flavor Market ...the name doesn't do it justice. It is the tapas restaurant and everything we had was wonderful. Our dining experience was extra special because Manuel (pool concierge) had arranged a special table for us and Philippe, our waiter, helped us pick out many delicious items. The bottom line is Excellence Playa Mujeres is excellent and we can't wait to go back.
