Excellence Playa Mujeres Adults Only All Inclusive is located on the beach in Playa Mujeres, close to Playa Mujeres Golf Club and El Meco Archaeological Site.
Hotel was great. We had a room on first floor and I could hear people talking and service carts rolling by at all hours. If I went back I would stay on the top floor and request a more secluded area.Comment of C. Jason , United States the 2015-10-21

hemos sido magnificamente atendidos en un hotel paradisiaco!Comment of G. Raul Andres , Argentina the 2015-10-02
My husband and I just returned from a week at this resort with family. We all had a wonderful time! The resort is gorgeous and very clean. The rooms were spacious and the shower was huge with a rain head that I miss already! I had read reviews prior to my trip and wondered if the bathroom glass that separates the toilet from bathroom was going to be an issue. It wasn't. The glass is actually frosted, but I can see why some people may find it uncomfortable. We ate together each night and the restaurants had no problem accommodating our party of 6. My husband and I had excellence club and I'm not sure that I would splurge for that again. The excellence lounge was very warm- didn't want to spend any time there. Staff throughout the hotel is great! Food was pretty good. We had no trouble with the firmness of our bed. The beach had seaweed the first few days of our trip, but then it suddenly cleared out and we were thrilled! Loved the beach bag that was in the room for our use , but thought it would have been nice to be able to take it home without buying it. We all had a great time!
"9th trip- Best ever! (Warning- you may never want to stay at any other resort ever again!)"
We are Excellence Playa Mujeres addicts, and have been coming at least once or twice a year since not long after it opened. Prior to discovering Excellence, we've stayed at probably a dozen other "5 star" resorts. Although I've written EPM reviews before, each new trip I am once again motivated to let everyone on TripAdvisor know just why we keep coming back. Above all else, it is the unbelievable staff at Excellence that brings us back. Absolutely every guest is treated like royalty. If there is the slightest "complaint" (although there is almost nothing to complain about...) they will bend over backwards to make sure the issue is rectified-immediately (eg. the in room bar service forgot to re-stock our water one day. We left a note, and returned after dinner to find 6 bottles, and a message on our phone asking whether we had received the water and if there were any problems to please let them know...) Reason number two is the FOOD! Just blows us away every time. FOOD TIPS: absolute favourites are Basmati (Indian) and Flavour Market (tapas style). In 5 days, we usually go to each one twice. At Basmati, if you aren't used to Indian and not sure what to order, just ask your waiter to "take care of you" and they'll bring a mouth watering assortment of deliciousness! At Flavour Market, we went two nights in a row and had to have the exact same things they were so fantastic (meat and cheese samplers, sirloin, chicken aioli, quail egg, patatas bravas, croquettes). Chez Isabelle (French) has a great atmosphere, with artfully prepared food- but portions are small, so don't be afraid to order two appetizers. Lunch at The Grill was fantastic (we used to do room service for lunch because the service here had been slow previously-- certainly was not the case this trip, the service was fast and attentive every day.)- burgers top notch, excellent Cuban sandwich on home made bread, standard fajitas, glad we tried the grouper ceviche. And don't forget the Aroma coffee bar! Our go to place for a light breakfast each morning. Great crepes, best coffee in the whole resort, ice cream, awesome desserts. More reasons we return: the whole place oozes elegance and luxury. Gorgeous and well kept grounds. Wonderful musicians. Great gym. Great bars with the hardest working staff you've ever seen. EPM will leave you wanting for nothing! THANK YOU TO OUR EXCELLENCE FRIENDS!: Oscar (Basmati)- you are our #1 "guy" at EPM, we look forward to seeing you every trip! Caesar and Hugo (martini bar) you are the best! (Ask Hugo for a "Hugotini" aka "ay!ay!ay!" :) muddled cucumber with gin and lime, so delicious!) Christian (The Grill)- the sweetest, friendliest, most attentive waiter you'll ever meet, we look forward to seeing you again! Marie Jose- thank you for looking after us at both Flavour Market and The Grill. Dalal, thank you for always giving such a warm welcome. Sandra- we missed you this time but will find you during our next trip! Also thanks to Diego (bell boy staff) Marta (KafeKafe), Fidencio (martini bar), Gloria and the team at Aroma. Next trip is already booked for 5 days in January! Thank you again Excellence Team!!! Kristina and Barry (Toronto, Canada)
"Excellente at Excellence"
We have just returned from the most amazing 2 weeks holiday at this 5* plus hotel. From the moment you walk into the Lobby the staff cannot do enough ensuring that your stay is unforgettable. It certainly was. We were taken to our room by the bell boy who was so helpful showing us aspects of the hotel on the way. The room was spotless and huge. We had a rooftop terrace with a plunge pool which was certainly worth the extra. The bed was so comfortable and everything you needed was provided. The hotel grounds are immaculate and every morning we saw a guy waist deep in the pools taking out any stray leaves that had fallen into the water. There are 9 restaurants which are all top class but if one had to choose a favourite it would have to be Chez Isabelle swiftly followed by Basmati and Barcelona..in fact all of them are excellent! At breakfast it was wonderful to be greeted by the smiling faces of the girls who remarkably remembered your name and room number and took you to your table. Sat around the pool the wonderful attentive Carlos kept us supplied with refreshing drinks and not forgetting the guys in the pool bar. In the evening it was a joy to watch Cesar mix cocktails and hand out tequila shots if you asked what was in a particular bottle! All in all it was the best holiday we have ever had. We have never written a review before but we felt that this hotel deserves high praise and will certainly be returning very soon.
"Awesome Anniversary in Paradise"
So, overall we absolutely loved the resort -- I'd give it a 4.5 out of 5. I was trepidatious about booking an all-inclusive due to all the stereotypes (lots of drunks, cheap drinks, bad food, etc). But I did a lot of reading and research to find a resort that avoided the stereotypes and EPM seemed to fit the bill. Still, I was prepared to be at least somewhat disappointed in the resort, because I thought there was no way that this place could be as good as everyone says. I was so wrong. We had a spectacular time - mostly just lazing around the resort at the pool or EC beach, but we did participate in a few activities, went on two excursions (Chichen Itza and the Catamaran tour to lsla Mujeres, both through Seasons Tours), saw a few shows, oh, and drank an unwise amount of tequila. Wahoo! LOVES: * Consistent Staff: The Excellence group has done a phenomenal job in creating a luxurious experience at a reasonable price point. I was most impressed by the consistency of the staff - everyone always says hello, makes sure to end each interaction with "have an excellence day", remembers your name (in as much as they can), and is incredibly upbeat, pleasant and willing to go the extra mile. The corporate training definitely shows, and to their credit!! * Impeccable Grounds: Following the consistency of the staff, I was also amazed at the groundskeeping, maintenance and housekeeping to keep the resort looking fresh, clean and pristine. They work around the clock to keep every thing ship shape, and that's no small feat given the beating that I'm sure the resort takes from us happy vacationers! * The Kitchen: We went on the kitchen tour because I was fascinated about the logistics of the resort and feeding so many guests, especially since the restaurants are a la carte. Fun fact: With very few exceptions (the ice cream base, for example), EPM makes everything in house. Breads, pastries, sauces, you name it, they make it. Even the ice cream base, which is brought in, they flavor themselves using real product (real vanilla, real strawberries, rather than a syrup, etc). It's so easy to buy mass market product and takes more time and care to make everything themselves. Very impressive and worth many kudos. * All The Live Music!!: This was an unexpected treat. There was almost always some sort of live music playing somewhere in the resort. I loved Alex the guitar player, Claudia for both Cubanismo and the pop songs, the hipster rock band on the beach, and there was this PHENOMENAL trio with one hell of a songstress at the helm who played at Agave while we were there. I would have stayed all night to listen to her and I never saw her anywhere else again while we were there. ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT: * Room Service: We ordered room service a few times, and found the execution of the offerings far below what the rest of the resort is putting out for dining options. This made much more sense after our kitchen tour -- the room service kitchen is completely separate and run by a totally different team than the other kitchens. Could be they just haven't implemented the same level of quality control there yet. The items we found most palatable were either fried (chicken fingers) or assembled (club sandwich) and didn't require much in the way of actual cooking. I love the convenience of 24-hour room service, but IMHO they need to step up the room service game to match the quality of what's coming out of the kitchens for rest of the resort. A NOTE ABOUT THE FOOD: * We were lucky, there were very few missteps in the dining service through our stay and we enjoyed quite a bit of truly delicious food. Not "michelin star" but certainly FAR above the food from your average chain restaurant. * Our favorites were Basmati and Agave, hands down. I wasn't impressed with Chez. Although the onion soup base was legit (wish they could do the broiled cheese top though!), the sea bass I got had limp skin, smelled like ammonia (either from a sodium bicarbonate bath or from being not fresh) and was inedible. The Hibachi at Spice was exactly what you want it to be (though I have some issues with the execution of their main dishes on the regular menu), and Toscana surprised me with how tasty it was. The ravioli and lasagna were clearly home-made, and on point. We didn't try either Flavor Market or Barcelona, this time around, though we did get tapas on the EC beach one day and they were quite delicious. A FEW TIPS: * Bring Damp Rid! I brought 2 packs of the hanging kind, which I stuck in the closet and the bathroom -- those things sucked SO much water out of the air, and left a fresh scent instead of "damp." * Pack less, use the laundry service. We used the laundry service to wash all our items from the first 6 days, AND had two huge stains to get out of two garments. We sent our items out at about 5pm, everything was back when we came back from dinner (even though it was 24 hour service), the stains were out, and holy moly does that laundry smell fantastic. SPECIAL MENTION: * Many thanks to Gabriella in the EC Lounge, for being so helpful and kind to us throughout our stay. You really made us feel like welcome friends. * Baez, who served the pool by 8a for the latter half of our stay and bore witness to the Don Julio-fueled spectacle I made of myself one day. Yeesh! * Eddie, Jorge, Dante and the whole entertainment staff, who have the job of rallying the masses to fun, coming up with new ways to keep us all entertained, and generally being amazing day in and day out. Your work does not go unnoticed.
I like comfort and privacy. Was able to find both here during our 7-day stay. A feast of beauty. The resort is impeccable. Service unmatched. The room, a junior suite, was gorgeous. Lots of pool and dinner options. Impossible to get bored. They left balloons and champagne in the room on my husband's birthday. The spa, although not cheap, was the best I'd ever experienced. Highly recommend this for couples or friends looking for a real break from a busy life.
