The hotel was beautiful, the staff friendly, knowledgeable and friendly. The room was very nice and the pool area was beautiful and the perfect place to spend any part of the day. I am glad we stayed here and will be coming back for sure!Comment of W. Christie , United States the 2016-07-01
A great stay, for a great price. Not the best Fairmont hotel in the world but most definitely the best for the money. Great complimentary shuttle service to the nearby shops and beaches and Santa Ana airport, where you can pick up transfers to Disneyland and further afield.Comment of L. "A quick Fact check for professional travellers"
My wife and I visited this hotel in August. We needed to stay for a week, so I carefully read the reviews. As usual, the reviews were mixed, so I wrote to their customer care services with some specific questions regarding noise complaints and cleanness of the rooms. She kindly replied back and assured me that the cleanness is their number 1 priority. As this hotel is near the airport, however, I kept my expectations low for the noise. By the time we left, we had a really mixed feeling about this hotel. So, I decided to make this review just a quick facts-checked using pictures and let you decide for yourself. In very short, the hotel has a beautiful lobby, restaurant and Bamboo garden. I never eat at the hotels, but I checked if they make the food from fresh ingredients. The waitress confirmed everything is made fresh, including burgers and soups. The front desk staffs were nice and polite. The parking is adjacent to the hotel, but you can use valet service for free. The parking is costly though, about $32. Make sure to ask if they have discount for your corporation. The pool was very beautiful, clean and with a nice hot tub and a fireplace. The internet is free if you are a club member otherwise you have to pay. It is free for some corporations, though. The gym was descent for a hotel. A business center is available but you have to pay for printing or faxing your documents. Lastly, no free breakfast! This being said, the negatives were as bold. Let’s start with the beds. I removed the mattress and pillows cover sheets to examine below the linens. As you see in the pictures, ugly stains on the mattress and pillows were disgusting. I do not know what I could have found if I had put my UV lights. Check your bed upon arrival. The furniture in regular rooms is old and quite beaten (see the chair picture). I moved to a junior suite. The setting was nicer with better furniture. The shower, however, had black mold all over the ceiling and walls as you can see in the picture. The bed was not any better! The air ducts seemed missing cleaning for many years. The pool furniture was old and dirty as you can see in the pictures. Luckily they were providing clean towels to cover the mattress. The tables in the balconies and around the pool were not very clean and most had some bird poop on them. For two days, the person in our adjacent room was smoking grass. I called the front desk and complained but that did not help! Some people were putting their dirty dishes in the corridors, but perhaps, this is not the hotel’s fault! Overall, I found the hotel an average of very good and very bad features. As long as you set your expectations and priorities right, you will not be disappointed. I hope this review helps you as a customer and helps the hotel to fix some of the issues.
The staff is great, very friendly and very sincere...I would definitely stay here on many more occasions. From the moment we checked in until the moment we checked out, we were given great service. They only negative was that it was only valet parking.
Really enjoyed recent experience at this hotel. Smart, modern hotel rooms and beautiful pool area. Yes, its close to JW Airport but did not affect our enjoyment of the hotel in any way. Valet car service is expensive but quick and efficient service for our four day stay. We also did not mind being in this location as we could get onto the main north/south highway quickly to get out of town but were only a short drive to the coast road with its attractions as well. Particular shout out to Jen who runs the early am yoga classes (complimentary!).
Great hotel smart and clean with excellent helpful staff. Bar staff in evening very good and food quality high. Upgrade $40 a day worthwhile superb bathroom and huge balcony. Swimming area much improved good staff, menu and comfortable seating. Valet a little expensive although hotel is 10 minutes from beach.
"Slow Valet and Slow Drinks"
Stayed at this property 9-16 to 9-18. Valet is pricey and slow. There is no self parking at the property, which is very inconvenient for someone coming and going a few times a day. Attended a private family event for 125 people and the hotel staffed the very pricey event with one bartender. Imagine a line 15-20 people deep and one person serving. I stepped in to help, which was fine, but a food and beverage manager lady stepped up and asked me to move and said "I have it handled" at which point she then stood there doing nothing for the next 15 minutes. No, she never poured a drink, never opened a bottle of beer and never helped to get the line of people waiting shorter. Room 201 backs to the ice machine and service door for employees that was opened and closed 25-50 times between 3-4am and 8am each morning. Squeaky door opening and closing while you are trying to sleep is not a good thing. Make sure your room is not adjacent anything but another room.
