"Fantastic stay in great hotel"
The hotel is doing a great job in refurbishing an outstanding property. The refurbished rooms are bright, airy and have that wonderful "new feel". Not all the rooms have been finished yet, but all the public areas have een done up beautifully. The gym (the Royal Polo Club of Barcelona) is just outstanding! Friendly staff all around. A pleasure staying there (again).
A 15 minute drive from the Airport, 5 minute walk from the nearest Metro, and barely ten minutes away from Camp Nou. And yet, its great location is still not the best thing about this hotel. A massive property, with great views all-round, its doubtless luxury never gets overbearing. Probably the best trained staff from any of the Hotels I've visited. Fantastic attention to detail. Outstanding food and drinks. Rooms that are practically designed to give you great comfort. And most importantly for someone like me who struggles to sleep when not at home, I slept great throughout my stay. Would love to return some time soon.
The service here seems to execute at all times without a hitch. We had an initial problem with the minibar attendant entering the room without knocking when we were not dressed, but the manager handled it professionally and personally. The rooms have been renovated beautifully. I've stayed all over the world in 4 and 5 star properties, and I'm not sure I've ever seen a more aesthetically appealing room. My question is with the shower though. The bathroom is beautiful, but has a huge jacuzzi tub with clawed feet that I would imagine many customers would not be interested in using. The shower though is a tight cylindrical tube - like on a cruise ship. I'm an averaged sized, athletic guy, but had trouble just raising my arms to wash my hair without hitting the walls. I'm confused with all the money spent on designing these rooms that someone didn't think to make the shower at least an average size. The breakfast buffet was good, but I didn't like that if they think you're American, they bring dumbed-down American coffee to your table. There are three beautiful espresso machines against the wall that are included in the price of the buffet, but they were never offered - even when I sent back the pot of watered down coffee. Room service breakfast the next morning was much better - maybe because they couldn't tell what country I was from. I asked for Greek yogurt instead of regular yogurt, eggs and bacon very well-done, only strawberry jam, and a pot of EUROPEAN coffee, and it was all done correctly and without a hitch. The location is attached to a large convention center on the outskirts of town. It's not a great location for sightseeing in the old town, but there is a metro stop very walkable a few blocks away that will take you downtown in about 40 minutes. Would I come back' Only if I could pay extra to get a room with a larger shower, but I did enjoy room service breakfast.
"A fantastic propery"
I chose this hotel for its convenience to IESE business school and location in an upscale neighborhood in Barcelona. It is an easy taxi drive to the center of the city along Avenida Diagonal. The gardens and hotel facilities are excellent as is the service. Recommended whether for business or leisure .
