"Beautiful hotel, great staff and relaxed atmosphere"
I stayed here for 1 night arrived quite late after a tough journey. Reception gentlemen really helpful and offered a complimentary drink at the bar to relax. I had one of the older rooms but it was still very well appointed, extremely clean and large. Had a light dinner in the bar area which was great for single traveller as very relaxed with lots of different seating options (bar, raised seats, normal tables). Located out of centre but the business I was visiting was only a few hundred metres away so convenient. Didn't have time to use outdoor pool but it looked lovely. Overall I'll definitely be staying there again next time in Barcelona.
"Back as a premier choice"
I've known this property for 20+ years. In that time it has been variously outstanding to disappointing. How great to see it restored to its full potential. The location is superb - a resort within a city with extensive gardens and lots of open space surrounding the hotel - and the physical aspects of the property have always impressed : but decor, service standards and attention to detail had declined. The bedrooms and bathrooms needed upgrading ; the lobby lacked any atmosphere ; and service did not match the 5 star rating. But now, under Fairmont, the investment in new decor; refurbishment and re-equipping of the accommodation; and training of staff has massively impacted on the guest experience. This was a delightful stay. Work is still ongoing but the direction of travel is clear. The Rey Juan Carlos is back as a premier choice in Barcelona. Happy days
"a perfect choice"
an excellent place to stay near the camp nou, highly friendly and the staff is so nice, a very luxiruous with affordable prices. our experience was perfect since we stayed me and my two kids for four days to watch the legendary game between barca and psg.
"Just about acceptable"
I think that at one time this was a great hotel. Today it's ok, but is in need of love and attention. The room that I stayed in had signs of wear and tear in the bathroom, some of the tiles were dirty, the carpet was marked, the wall paper also. Nothing major, but the kind of marks that you would expect to get after 5 to 10 years of use. In the main lobby there are windows from the ceiling to floor windows, which are impressive and let in lots of light, unfortunately some of the panes of glass need a good clean. The staff were also un-prepared at check-in and behind the bar. They either weren't use to large numbers of guests, it appeared that they couldn't cope, or worked at one speed. The hotel itself is not in a particularly good area, outside looks a little shabby. It is however less than a 20 minute down hill walk to the Camp Neu. I would stay again on business, but wouldn't stay here if it were my money.
"Beautiful and amaizing"
this hotel is one of the best Fairmont hotels allover. They have very active leader Mr. Franck Sibille General Manager who is very active man who love his job and you see him everywhere anytime during day or night. He works and serve his guests personally when he feels rush times. Thank you Frank. for walk or jugging area around the hotel is perfect. don't miss the high quality and tasty food.
