"This place is awesome!"
Food is great and the staff is even better. The entertainment is pretty good and the kids club had plenty for my son to do. Abraham was a bartender that was pretty good and he would have been just fine for the entire vacation but Carlos at the main Lobby bar was the second best bartender I've ever encountered. The best ever, not just in Mexico, was...Manuel at the Central Plaza bar. He works 6 nights a week, so you shouldn't miss him. He made our vacation
"Wonderful Vacation Getaway with the husband."
We stayed at Finest in March 2017, and it was great. They were very detailed, service-oriented, and kind. Fabio and Jacklyn in the Finest Concierge were beyond helpful in assisting us with some errands we had off the resort. The food was pretty good - not bad but not necessarily amazing. The service is what really sets this hotel apart. The facilities are very clean, modern, chic, and comfortable. We had a two story casita which offered amazing ocean views. We went to the Spa and did the hydrotherapy which was also a great experience. We did a few water activities, and Kevin with the water team was great. He took us on the wind boats (since we didn't really know how to use them!).
"First trip to Finest was Wonderful - won't be our last"
Just returned from a 9 night stay with my husband and our 21 year old son and his 20 year old friend. We have travelled the world and usually stay in luxury hotels, upscale cruises or rent lovely condos. I have to say that The Finest was one of our favorite family vacations ever. We had a swim up room in the Executive club and a junior suite in the Executive Club so that is our frame of reference. We do not like buffets or standing in line for food so we never went to the Market buffet so I can't comment on that. The other restaurants, including room service were all good to great to amazing. If you go in there expecting nice hotel food you will not be disappointed. Don't expect five star food at every meal for every course, but on average you will be pleased. We were. At times, my boys ordered 5 courses and loved every one. The drinks were amazing and great pours. The Executive club lounge and Bistro were our hangouts and we truly felt special there. The service is quite nice and attentive but these people are paid to provide great service but are NOT paid to be your best friend, there is a difference. They will speak to you and engage if you talk with them but don't expect a rowdy Club Med environment, that is not what you will get here. We did not participate in the nightly entertainment (White Night etc, preferring to hang at the Sky bar or exec club) and I still cant believe they dont have any music at the Sky Bar. Instead they had a great guitarist who was mostly alone, sitting in the piano bar totally under-utilized. Oh, well. Beach service was amazing, again only was in the Exec beach, not sure about the other parts. We tipped daily out of personal preference. We played tennis and used the gym including yoga classes. We did the Texas hold em and ping pong tournaments. All of these activities are well organized and fun to meet other people and hotel staff. Check in and check out was a breeze (again Exec Club makes life so easy) I did walk over to Excellence next door to check it out one day and was totally shamed by their front desk because I came without an appointment. Not sure I would ever make a stay there because of that now. Our stay at the Finest was so wonderful that even though we do not have young children I would still consider a return trip there and I usually never go to the same location twice. Enjoy!
"Very nice for families with kids"
We stayed with two children under 6 and had a great time. Like others have mentioned, the food was uneven. The breakfast was consistently good, lunch ok and dinner hit or miss. The Mexican restaurant is very good. The kids club is great, but I would not leave my three year old when they play in the water area - the steps are slippery and sometimes there are lots of kids. The staff was very nice. Beach is lovely but windy with fairly large waives.
We were fortunate to experience both of this resorts top flight rooms due to being extended from the recent storm. We were first booked into the top floor of the excellence suites which was simply beautiful with an outstanding view of the ocean. Room was excellent, service superb, and very clean. This suite had on the second floor a plunge pool, that was exclusive to the room. It included a large daybed, large sofa, two side chairs., tables and lamps, with an outdoor shower. Pool was small, but more than adequate for a relaxing evening. Jacuzzi in room was also very personal, clean and super. We needed to change rooms when our flight home was canceled, so we booked a first floor room in the swim up category, this was outstanding, and if we had it to do over, we would very much have booked this swim up room first, as both rooms were identical except for the roof top pool. Restaurants all were just outstanding and delicious, and was a treat to try so many different dishes. The physical property was absolutely beautiful and extremely well kept. Pools were clean and very well maintained as were the beaches. The nightly entertainment was less than expected. Although the same 8 or 10 members performed each night, but different skits or routines, this was by no means a Broadway production and could certainly be skipped without missing anything. Daily entertainment was also weak, but then again we were there to soak up sun and relax. Overall, an outstanding hotel and truly deserves its name of Finest.
