"The Finest Easily Lives Up to It's Name"
We had the opportunity to be guests at the Finest this past week (April 16th- through April 21st). We were originally guests at the Beloved until we realized they had changed their policy as an Adults Only resort. We were not sure what to expect of the Finest. We fell in love with the hotel and everything it had to offer. The people, staff, restaurants were 5 star. Everyone who works there goes out of his/her way to make each and every guest feel special. A huge shout out to Alfredo and Pamela- just two of the hotel staffers that we all feel in love with. Alfredo should have his own TV show- it would be a comedy hit. Pamela is a great representative of the Finest. Every day they made us feel welcome, special and invited us to participate in the many offered activities. You do not have to do anything, but they offer so much. The hotel is new. Less than 2 years, it is beautiful and definitely worth a visit. You will not be disappointed.
"THE family vacation you must do for all of you!"
This trip showed me the difference between a vacation and a trip. A trip is where our family runs from destination to destination exploring an area and learning about our surroundings. A vacation is the opposite. A vacation is a time to do nothing except relax, unwind, be pampered, enjoy your surroundings and the people you are travelling with. Our recent journey to Finest was definitely a vacation! The four of us (wife, 11 year old boy and 9 year old girl) just got back from an amazing vacation at Finest Resorts Playa Mujeres. We did not leave the resort. There was no reason to leave. We pre-paid for a day trip, but let it go to waste because of the resort and all it had to offer. Food—great variety, fresh flavors, just enough of the local fare, adults only dining, family dining. The dinner on the beach was awesome! The outdoor themed dinners were great for the family. Every afternoon they had a food demonstration by the pool, which is where we ate almost every day. Guest involvement was encouraged in those food demos, which made it real fun for all!! My wife has Celiac. She told one of the entertainment staff on the first day. By day 3, they had gone out and purchased gluten free soy sauce for her and others suffering from Celiac. WOW!!! Drinks—juice bar served whole coconuts for you to drink the water out of. Kids loved it! Adult beverages had high alcohol content and were outstanding! Rooms were fully stocked and replenished every day. My wife and I are not big drinkers, but drank our fair share on this vacation. Room—new, modern look to the room. My son slept on the porch, which was equipped with a bed, the whole vacation. Bathroom was big. Service staff kept the room spotless. We didn’t spend a lot of time in the room. Entertainment—The bright spot of Finest! The entire entertainment staff was warm, welcoming, fun, charming, silly and very professional. Poolside live bands rocked! Nightly shows included tributes to Madonna, Michael Jackson, and Disco. They also included gymnastics, drums and lights. Great cap to the night for the whole family! Kids club—activities for all ages!! Our kids did not discover the club until day 3, but once they did, my wife and I enjoyed time together because our kids wanted to spend their time at the kids club. They had shows just for the kids that were fun and well done. My daughter got to go horseback riding. My son is into sports and played soccer and basketball with other kids his age during the trip. Safety—two checkpoints to enter the resort monitored 24/7 by multiple people. We let our kids roam free within the resort with no hesitation or incident. Spa—Had a great massage that was professionally executed. A nice touch from this vacation.
"Worst luxury hotel experience ever"
Checked in today for a wedding. Rooms smell of mould. First room was completely unlivable even after Housekeeping came through twice. Refused to switch us telling us we had to "wait till 4pm the next day because that's our protocol". After some pushing switched us to a room that smelled marginally better but further out and did not have the same facilities. Disappointing experience. Hope our next few days in this place gets better. But unless you're forced to be here, skip this place. Go for an SPG hotel instead 🙄
"Great family resort"
This place is defiantly worth it. Luxurious and spacious rooms, many dining opportunities smoothie bar, coffee shop, many pools, beautiful beachfront... kind of has it all. I believe this place is great for a family vacation and not so much for a couples getaway or a honeymoon as there are many many kids. Resort is quite big, there are 450 rooms and capacity of around 1200 people. So definitely a busy place. It is about 35-40min driving from Cancun downtown area and about 45mins from the airport. We visited this place for our friends wedding so we were a mixed group of about 30 people. We stayed at the excellence club (adults only) and were very happy with our room and a service. There is one side of the central pool dedicated to adults only where we spent the most of our time. Bars: overall drinks were great, however except few waiters service was pretty bad. Stuff looked very unhappy. Waiting time to be served was really long, and once when we have gotten their attention I found many of staff quite unpleasant to deal with. I must say that Francisco - waiter at the pool bar was just a star! We loved him, he took such a good care of us and made sure everyone from our group was satisfied. Dining: many dining options, all themed restaurants were beautifully done. My fav was Asian restaurant with Teppanyaki bar, also Surf and Turf... there is a French, Mexican, American, Italian, Lobster bar and buffet... so definitely no lack of options. One can eat in different place every day. Food was good however service was once again really bad. As we were usually in a big group we wanted to make sure we had a certain dining time so we can plan our evening. Now when we wanted to book a restaurant they said they don't take bookings, we should just come 15-20min before and we will be seated. (8 people) Well that sounds Great! Once we came back ready to have dinner they said we will have table for you ready in 1.5h and there is a waiting list! :) So yes, it takes a bit of maneuvering to get the dinner at this resort. Unfortunately this was the sort of inconsistency we experienced from night to night at all the speciality restaurants. Overall we had a great time at this place, really enjoyed being in such a spacious resort so well thought out and planned with so many things to do. However food and Beverage department really needs to improve their quality service for a 5 star resort.
"The best hotel in Mexico"
30 mins from Cancun, the finest is tucked away between the jungle and the beach. Very beautiful and very expensive but worth it. Hotel grounds are impeccably kept, staff are beyond helpful and the food excellent. We stayed for 2 weeks. The food is excellent and mostly served al a carte, perhaps the reviewer who complained about the food should have just stuck to the buffet restaurants where he can pile the food as high on his plate as he wants but most people want fine enjoyable dining experiences whilst on holiday. Also the guy who gave 1 star a few reviews down the page was complaining about construction. There was no construction going on because every day my daughter and I used to go for long walks around the whole complex. All we saw was beautifully kept gardens, lawns and not one bit of litter in sight. If you really want high end service, branded alcohol and lovely food then this is for you. Breakfast has to be the best experience for us. A word of advice, if you are a couple without kids try not to go during the holidays as there do seem to be loads of kids around but don't let it put you off. A big thank you to Lomas Travel who are downstairs who arranged all our excursions. They are beyond brilliant. Now the bad things but don't worry, even with the bad things I'd still give 5 out of 5 and I'm saying the bad things so the hotel can keep an eye on and Improve their service.... Mini bar wasn't refreshed every day, sometimes they would forget, had to chase. Asian restaurant service beyond slow but holy MOLY was the food great. Coffee shop staff can be a little miserable at times, give us a smile ladies. We had the same sunbed spot for the whole 2 weeks. The first week our waiter would pass every 30 mins asking if we would like a drink. In the second week it changed, sometimes we wouldn't see a passing waiter for 2 hours and I had to get the drinks myself. Hey but that's it, all in all it's still the best place in Mexico, away from all the brits abroad, football supporters and there certainly weren't any Madge from Benidorms! We've been here twice but can't go a third time with so many other places in the world, however it's going to be hard to find somewhere else as great as this place.
