"Class Castle Birthday Party"
We stayed here as a family, a group of about 12, for my sisters 40th Birthday Party. We where very well looked after, the hotel went out of their way to facilitate the birthday. Given there was a wedding going on at the same time I was very impressed. Not once did staff make us feel like we needed to make room for wedding guests, whilst there was some waits for food or drinks these where minimal. The hotel also up-graded my Parents to a beautiful suite who are regular guests. They wish to express their gratitude for this kind gesture. There was a minor issue regarding cocktail making which was disappointing, but one of the bar staff made us cocktails despite her lack of training and being told it was policy not to make cocktails while events where running. They where also lovely so thank you. The rooms where lovely and the hotel has such a wonderful feeling to it. We where made to feel very welcome during our stay. The Castle and the surrounding area have beautiful charm.
"Not A Real Castle But A Fun Place To Stay"
Coming from America we landed in Dublin just after 6 AM, arrived at the Fitzpatrick by 8 AM, and were pleasantly surprised to find they already had a room available for us. The young lady who checked us in was very polite and the whole staff was very welcoming. But a word of caution to American visitors -- do not expect the same type of service(s) in Ireland as you do in the states. It is very different and more laid back -- this goes for food service, maid service, amenities, etc. Rooms are smaller and bathrooms are smaller; so if you book here expect it to be this way. While not perfect and starting to show its age, the Fitzpatrick, just south of Dublin, is a great place to stay if you don't want to be in the city. This is a true Irish country manor, with beautiful grounds and lots of surrounding nature for walking and hiking. The view from our balcony is fantastic -- we can see the ocean from here, and a 10 minute walk down the [steep] hill is the wonderful little town of Dalkey, with all the amenities you might need (banks, restaurants, pubs, pharmacy, shops, churches, train service, etc.). Based on what we've experienced these last few days, we're looking forward to finishing out our stay here and enjoying what this lovely part of Ireland has to offer.
We had a great experience during our stay at the Fitzpatrick. The staff was friendly and our room was excellent. We particularly enjoyed our dinner at the Grill restaurant. The fitness area, including the pool, is part of a gym for the town so it can be a bit crowded but the facilities are nice.
"Family visit to ireland"
Nice hotel, a little jaded in parts but clean and friendly. Good breakfasts and helpful staff. Good facilities like pool, gym etc. Airport bus stops in the car park which is very handy. Not far from dart railway station (10 min walk).
We enjoyed the one night stay here...but thought it a real castle. It's a refurbished old mansion turned into a castle look. Our bed was comfortable and we enjoyed the shower after soaking in the hot tub. Dinner downstairs in the bar was quickly served. We thought it a quiet place and slept well here...though there were tour busses.
