"A night of mixed reviews"
my partner and I booked into this hotel as we are big fans of the Hyatt brand. It is a new product in the Hyatt portfolio for Sydney, newly opened last December. I am a gold passport member and enjoyed a pleasant points and pay upgrade to a club king room with city views and Regency club privileges. We drove in from our home parked in the Wilson parking across the road whereby the hotel offers a negotiated flat rate of $55.00 per night a discount of $24.00. The hotel is minimalist in décor with soft tones clean lines and a very spacious welcoming reception area. We arrived to our room following a welcomed early check in (2pm instead of 3pm). The room is beautifully appointed with a very compact design. The King bed was so comfy, there were very thoughtful additions like the handy alarm clock with multi adaptive charging devices and Bluetooth compatibility There is a modern desk and office chair in the corner with a comfy armchair next to it and a padded stool cleverly tucked under the under desk. They made the best use of a what is a smallish space. The wardrobe incorporates the mini bar and bar fridge. The offerings were minimal given the upmarket status given to this place. There were only 2 wine glasses and 2 water glasses...no champagne flutes. The coffee and tea offerings were of a very poor standard in my opinion and should be improved beyond the "motel" style offerings. There were robes and the towels were fluffy and soft. The bathroom was white and clinical with only a walk in shower and better than average toiletries. There was an oversight of no soap offered upon check in... only body wash. This was rectified when we rang housekeeping. We brought a very special bottle of Champagne to enjoy our celebration. Sadly when I telephoned housekeeping for an ice bucket and two flutes....they never came. So we made due with the wine glasses in the mini bar. The regency club was beautiful, modern, clean and very professionally run. The view from there was spectacular as was the service from the very friendly and attentive team. The food and beverage offerings/selection were average compared to other Regency clubs we've experienced in other Hyatt hotels. We ordered room service dinner, which incurs an automatic fee of $8.00 per order so beware. I asked for a side of Dijon mustard but received a dollop of hot English instead. We can recommend a drink in the newly opened Zephyr roof top bar for the views alone. The surrounds are modern, hip and of the time, but on the pricey side. All in all we enjoyed our stay in this upscale tourist hotel, but feel that in order to reach another level of excellence there needs more finessing.
"Surprise birthday weekend"
Great place to stay, staff extremely helpful and friendly staff. My husband had mistakenly booked a room with twin beds and they were so good about changing and joined in our laughter. Motel is so close to Darling Harbour and lots of good places to eat, not to far from China Town either. Rooms are a good size with comfy beds and pillows.
The Hyatt Regency Sydney (formerly known as the Four Points Darlington Harbour) is Australia’s largest hotel. The property is a modern grand hotel with wonderful amenities. The hotel is within walking distance of many of Sydney’s attractions, public transit, shopping, entertainment, and neighbourhoods. From Nov 19 to Nov 25, 2016, my spouse and I stayed in room 1108 overlooking Darlington Harbour with its terrific view. Over room was spacious and quiet. The king bed was very comfortable. The bathroom had a large walk in shower. Our only concern was the lack of lighting over the sink. We enjoyed the full breakfast buffet every morning. The selection included Western and Asian choices. The food was always fresh and the choices plentiful. The pastries were heavenly. The thing that impressed us the most was the hotel staff. As busy as the hotel was during our stay, the staff was professional, friendly, and helpful. We will stay at this hotel again in the future.
A fantastic location and no real problem with street noise etc (the incessant Saturday night salsa music was drowned out by the good glazing and aircon). Some slight misses, such as nice blockout blinds that leave a 2.5cm gap at either end, so the room is illuminated by 5.30am. Also the tea and coffee facilities were the same as you'd find in a $100 motel - not up to par for a five star suite. However, the Club room was fantastic and the 'continental breakfast' was plentiful and included hot food and even a chef for omelettes etc. Staff in the Club were great. The Zephyr Bar seems yet to be discovered and is wonderful. (Although having phoned twice to have confirmed that our toddler could sit with us and enjoy the view, we were twice denied entry when we got there. An understandable policy, but annoying to have contradictory instructions.) All in all, a great stay and would visit again.
"Fantastic service and facilities."
Could not find a single fault with this place. It's had recent renovations which gives everything a lovely, fresh feeling. From the moment I walked into the lobby, I felt welcome. The staff were lovely and extremely attentive. I stayed in a harbour king room, which had great views of darling harbour. The amenities in the room were very modern (although there is not a great deal of room in the bathroom) and the bed was clean and comfy. There was a maid service daily to refresh the room, the staff were so friendly! In my stay, I also had access to the club lounge, I loved being able to visit at different times and be welcomed with a new selection of food and beverages. The staff in the lounge were just wonderful. Also visited the new rooftop bar, they've done a lovely job with it, fantastic views and great cocktails, etc. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and would be happy to recommend it to anyone visiting Sydney.
