"very good location but don't go in this hotel wit young kids...."
New rooms are better than the oldest one... unfortunately we have to change because our baby in our villa bother an other client in his villa (because this old man was here to have some rest after an heart attack we decide to not complain). Because we booked only 2 nights it's difficult and to much stress to move after the first night for only a second one in an other old villa close from a farm if I can smelt well .... Not exactly what we expected but go to take a drink the bar is Amazing...
"A beautiful place"
My family and I stayed in a family suite this past week. We could not have asked for more, starting with our welcome ceremony upon arrival. The entire staff was fantastic and responsive. My husband and I have a tendency to wake up very early (around 4:00AM) The staff brought us coffee and opened the gym and library early every morning we were there. The food was great. The setting is beautiful. Some of the best sleep I have had likely because the soothing sounds of the Sayan river.
I was really looking forward to this hotel but was sadly disappointed. It's close to 20 years old and has weathered well but is in need of a renovation. If it's new and modern you are after then don't book this place ... I regret not staying at the new Ritz Carlton down the road The service at both the pool restaurant and main Restuarant was slow. The food ordinary and your requests often got lost in translation eg I ordered my pork ribs with lots of chilli but instead it got drenched with almost a litre of oil! We booked a one bedroom villa and it had a nice aspect over the rice paddocks. The pool is a little cool so we didn't jump into the water too often. Bath is small and some of the wood is beginning to rot. The kids club was great, but the gym off the main building is small and ill equipped. I understand the hotel is going through a transformation with a new head chef appointed to lift the standards. Unfortunately we came early in his days of change and we don't envisage to come back. I love the four seasons in Hong Kong, but Ubud missed the mark completely.
When I entered the premises, the hotel gave peaceful and wonderful feeling. I enjoyed walking around the resort under cloudy weather. The air is fresh. The garden and scenery was just beautiful. And during my walk, I was impressed by the housekeeping team on how they carry their equipment. During the night, it was even more wonderful. The sound of the nature accompanied by the sound of the river brought a peaceful mind. Breakfast is an alacarte for the selection and buffet for some pastries and fruit. Generally, the breakfast is tasted good. Staff are attentive and may go for extra mile service. It was an evening when we ordered for porridge. I didn't know how did the staff get to know that it was meant for my sister who was unwell. Hence, the porridge was served for free because somebody was ill. Even further, when I waited at the lobby (reception area) for a buggy, a staff approached me and told me : if you may need any isotonic water or may need doctor, please approach us and do not hesitate. The staff at port cochere were helpful. And, they tried to make sure that you won't get lost when you leave the resort. My greet for Bli Agung Rai. He was kind and helpful. And also for Intan, she explained very detail on how to reach some places that I asked her.
"Tranquil & Serene"
Wonderful, secluded hotel in such a peaceful place. The view of the forest and river from the villas are just amazing. Honestly would recommend to anyone looking for a get away from the fast paced life in Denpasar.
