"Gorgeous setting, lovely stay"
The very best first: this property is outstanding. The rooms are very well embedded into the landscape and convey an excellent feeling of utter seclusion. The grounds are exceptionally maintained which is quite a task due to all the greenery and somestimes strong winds. The rooms are spacious and beautifully low key in keeping with the lovely surroundings and therefore not distracting from the view. The extended private terraces are huge, but because of the incredible heat when visiting, we were unable to enjoy that. The swimming pool is also very stylish and with stunning views over the rice paddies towards their own water buffalo (yes indeed, an absolute highlight for me and my son). Given all this raving regarding grounds and accomodation, this property would have to be a five star rating. But no, the food at both restaurants and especially poolside (including the service sometimes) seriously detracts from the stay. It is such a pity. We always tried to eat elsewhere which is quite a feat considering the seclusion of the hotel. The thai restaurant was only mediocre and didn't offer anything special for the rather obscene prices. Too much time spent on presentation and less on delivering high quality authentic cuisine. The breakfast had an ok selection for most diverse likings, but we all had to pass on a lot of things because the buffet was set outside and the temperature was stunningly hot (unusually so apparently). Nothing stays fresh or cooled in those temperatures, even when on ice. I have been in many high class restaurants in some very hot countries and they wouldn't dream of presenting the food outside when perishable (cold meats, cheese, fish). So breakfast was limited to ordering from the menu which didn't offer much choice. This was a serious downfall in my opinion. Then last but not least the food at the pool was pretty atrocious. One chicken dish we had ordered had horrible pieces of (I hope) chicken in it. We sent it back, but hardly got any apology for it. The price again was exceedingly high for what was offered. But back to the overall stay it was wonderful, the staff (except poolside) were so friendly and helpful it was a joy to be greeted by them after coming back to the hotel quite hot and bothered from the incredible heat. Housekeeping was also very good and completely unobtrusive. If they could get their act together at the restaurants and generally with the food it would be an utter outstanding experience. I suppose the restaurant would need some strong competition in the vicinity! Then I'm sure next time I would give it five stars.
"First Four Seasons experience"
From our arrival to the departure we were enjoying the Four Seasons hospitality, beauty and flavors. Our special thanks to Mr.Rohan, who offered us the breakfast boxes for our trip to Golden Triangle starting early morning. Another thanks to the most beautiful receptionist of the world who welcomed us on our arrival (I hope my wife will not read this:)). The negative experience was the cleaning of the path to our room nr.1104 every morning at 6:00 and the number of very noisy chinese guests due to the Chinese New Year. Definitely we will return back!
"What a great hotel"
This is a must for anyone who is visiting Chiangmai, the hotel is breath taking ,top of the game ,great staff and amazing service from the chamber maids to the general manger ,just superb,a big thank you to all .
Perfect place for a retreat. Great Italian restaurant. Excellent staff. Food in the Thai restaurant is just warm but temperature could've been higher. Hotel environment is lovely. If u have no plan to spend too much time in the city center, this hotel would be the top choice.
"Just Book It!"
The Four Seasons Chiang Mai is in a league of its own. If you have any second thoughts when it comes to booking this hotel just stop thinking and make a reservation. It is amazing. From the warm welcome during check in to the wonderful service at the restaurants and pool, we never felt more welcomed at a hotel. The rooms are beautiful and we spent so much time on our outdoor patio surrounded by lush vegetation and beautiful butterflies. We really enjoyed the infinity pool overlooking the rice terraces and sipping craft cocktails infused with local essence. This hotel is an oasis, a small little paradise close enough to the hustle and bustle and culture of Chiang Mai, yet far enough removed to feel complete serenity. We stayed here for 4 nights and could only hope to be back. From start to finish, It was just that perfect.
