Everything in this hotel is simply perfect! Italian restaurant is worth a visit (yummy food, great wine and extraordinary friendly staff) Furthermore I recommend to book the complimentary garden tour - the lady who showed us around knows everything about the social and political Thailand, about flora and fauna. Great!
"Spectacular Asian Resort ... Perhaps the very Best"
We've stayed here on 3 occasions over the past 20 years & our recent visit was just as wonderful as the first. The resort is basically a spacious "U" shape which surrounds thematic Thai restaurants, pools and a dozen, or more, functioning terraced rice paddies & giant lake with 3 Thai centric wooden structures. Real Thai farmers work the rice paddies & the harvests are donated to nearby charities - very nice. Rice Terrace rooms face the paddies & offer the feeling of real Thai countryside life. (Aman & others have copied this quaintness in their offerings.) Lodging, food, staff, spa, cooking school & amenities are tip Top elegance. Why stay in busy & noisy Chiang Mai city' I don't & you shouldn't either. Enjoy!!!
"Extremely long weekend - beware"
This was our first trip to Chiang Mai. We stayed for two nights. Firstly the Four Seasons is not a bad resort - it is very nice. I believe it is one of the few higher end resorts in Chiang Mai. However on an overall basis I am surprised with the rating given to this resort on TripAdvisor given the price as we did not feel it was good value for money. The resort is located in the middle of a rice paddy which was pretty different. The view at the entrance is spectacular. We had an Upper Rice Terrace room; it was very pleasant to walk around the rice paddies. However the resort is a bit on the older side and has been around for a while. Also the resort was quite busy - there was a wedding on the first night which might have meant that the resort was busy. There were a number of tourists from China, US, France, Singapore and other locations. Check in was quite busy. Surprisingly there were no details on the spa in the room. We were told that we should have been told about these details at check in. The spa was quite quiet. It was also pretty expensive. The resort is relatively far from town which means that if you are only visiting for a few days you may end up staying in the resort for the whole time so reasonably priced food options is important. There is a shuttle bus to town to be night market about four times a day. There were only two restaurant options - one Thai and one Italian restaurant. You can also eat at the Rim Tai kitchen but the cooking packages were expensive. It was much cheaper to go a la carte. The food was pretty average - nothing special. Service however was very attentive - including the car pick up at the airport. Also we noted some of the staff also spoke Mandarin; we noted a reasonable number of mainland Chinese guests staying at the hotel. Overall we found that the resort not good value for money. The plus plus charges on top of the quoted rates meant it was expensive. For a short trip away, we have found that similar resort options in Koh Samui and Bali were better value for money, newer, quieter and more secluded and the food options were better.
"Luxury - end of story"
Just finished our annual business/vacation trip to Asia. This time for part of the trip we stayed at the Four Seasons in Chaing Mai. In a short sentence, “you can’t go wrong by staying at this resort!”. The rooms were very well appointed, clean and luxurious. The staff we always smiling, saying hello and incredibly attentive. The final night “movable feast” dinner we outstanding. Capped the entire stay with a 2 ½ hour spa massage – OMG. Special shout out to Bee our pool attendant for taking such good care of us. 100% recommend this resort.
