Wonderfull accomodation - lovely villas with plenty of personal space and good facilities. Great landscape and view - both on the territory of the hotel and at the Gulf of Siam. Excellent SPA facilities with professional terapists. Friendly and eager to help stuff. A lot of personal touch and small details which make your day. Koh restaurant is a great place to have dinner!
"So wanted this to be 5*..."
The resort is beautiful, in a lovely setting, accommodation superb, the staff friendly, dedicated and attentive, but it needs a few operational tweaks, to truly deserve the description of a 5* Paradise resort! There is a lack of free activities (Thai Chi once a week and Yoga twice a week only, always over-subscribed, tennis coach never showed up). If it's raining not much on offer, even the private pool, is a little too cold to enjoy swimming in. The Spa is expensive and the Gym is small, albeit with a great view! Guess geared towards private bookings. Food and drinks are quite expensive, with in-room dining not included as part of the half-board package and special evenings commanding a hefty surcharge. The cheapest bottle of local wine is THB 1,900 / £50. While the service at the beach and in the rooms (like ghosts!) is superb, the restaurant service could be better. Separation of dining areas / times for children should also be considered (New Year's Eve party turned into a very expensive kids' do!). Very little evening entertainment outside of special meals. Overall we did feel that the experience was designed to extract as much money as possible. I am sure we would have spent more, had we not felt this way throughout. All in all, very good, not perfect, but it so easily could have been!
We originally booked our stay on the island at the Intercontinental. But the photos on their website were so deceiving. We arrived and were extremely disappointed after having just been at the Four Seasons in Chiang Mai. So we decided to throw away the money we had paid at the Interncontinental, and immediately book the next few nights at the Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui. Best decision ever. The property is gorgeous. We were greeted in their lobby with a welcome drink and taken to our gorgeous villa with a view of the entire property. The Room was spacious and beautifully decorated with its own pool and deck area. The attention to detail is superb: golf cart transportation to the differente areas of the hotel, complimentary coconut baths set up in your spacious bathroom (advance notice of 2 hours needed), concierge visit you at different times to see if you would like to participate in any of the events the hotel has organized for its guests. We booked a class of Muay Thai in their own sports/gym area. The boxing ring overlooks the ocean, and has a professional Muay Thai Fighter as the instructor. Fantastic! Don't leave the resort, there's not much to see in town... the tour they offer of the Thai Islands by boat is an incredible experience and they pick you up from the resort's beach. They were renovating the pool at that time, but it should be done by now. We are looking forward to visitng again for our 5 year anniversary!
"Best hotel on this island"
Beautiful location, outstanding service, relaxing atmosphere...just to name a few characteristics of the Four Seasons Koh Samui. It is so far the best hotel I have ever been, some people say the best in whole Asia.
"Four Seasons Koh Samui"
My family of six arrived amidst a monsoon and we had torrential rains for the next three days. It was impossible to take advantage of all that the property has to offer and we were definitely disappointed as my wife and I had been here before and know how wonderful it is. Nonetheless, the entire staff, from the GM, Jeff, on down, did everything in their power to mitigate the circumstances. They went even further and graciously waived the remainder of our 7 night minimum (it was festive season) so we could move on to their sister property at Chjang Mai, where the weather was significantly better. Everything that the staff could control exceeded the high expectations I have for Four Seasons.
