"5 star hotel"
Stayed for 2 nights with my wife in late Feb. The hotel is 5 star and has all the facilities and services needed. Clean, nice and spacious rooms. The rooftop bar is really nice, great spot for drinks and view of this area of Mumbai. We also had a lunch at San-Qui (asian restaurant) and it was really good food. Location is good, just a few minutes from Phoenix Mall (best mall in Mumbai) and between airport and Nariman point/Gateway of India (both approx 30 min taxi). The pool area is ok with sunshine most of the day (not that many sunbeds and quite many birds hanging around). Overall the hotel is a very nice 5 star hotel but....there are some points to be made: - Too expensive services. Minibar, Spa, Poolbar etc. They charge additional 25% against other 5 star I stayed in Mumbai (Oberoi Nariman point as an exempel). I would go so far as to say that prices in minibar is outrages. - Not lavish enough for the price. Again in comparison to Oberoi you dont get that feeling of luxury. Beds and room are good but not more than you can have at a 4 star in most countries. The same goes for the breakfast, not quite that feeling of luxury (dont missunderstand me, it is still a very good breakfast and can probably measure against most other 5 star, at least in India). Overall this is a good 5 star hotel with some nice features like the rooftop bar but if you choose between this hotel and the ones at Nariman Point and prices are the same I would choose the latter. I would recommend this hotel if you get a good deal and prices are lower than other 5 stars in Mumbai.
"Ground floorRestaurant food is very good"
The Ground floor restaurant is very good.. and especially the out door is very enjoyable.. The roof top bar offers spectacular views.. but it is is very expensive.. four pints of beer costed me USD 60.. not sure what it would be if I had gone for dinner at this place..
As always superb stay. Stayed here over a dozen times on business. The place is centrally located and in great shape. Great staff at check-in and concierge. Just a couple of small disappointments this time. The breakfast which is usually excellent with great service was very badly organized in the Chinese restaurant. When I called to make the booking was told there were no rooms. Later I found a booking on booking.com. However, the reception was very nice to offer me an upgrade. Thank you
"This place is first class and friendly"
Started with the hotel BMW 7-series ride to the hotel from the airport at 3:00 am. A splurge because incredibly more expensive than taxi but still not too expensive. Worth it to me. In general, the hotel car service was first class. For example, not the old Innovas but late-model Innovas, and drivers who were informed and articulate. We did have a young driver one night take us to India Accent and he drove like a bat out of hell. We got a great rate ($155/night) for an upgraded room (two twin beds.). Was me and my son. Free internet that was very reliable. The hotel does not have enormous lobby (but larger than the Four Seasons Tokyo) or grounds but is nice. I like that I could get a cup of coffee at 3 am in the morning. The breakfast buffet was very good. The room was immaculate. The finish was meticulous and I usually do not pay much attention to stuff like that. The bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept on just like the Four Seasons we stayed in Tokyo. Easy to smoke right outside the front entrance, Many hotel employees available. Tight security, like apparently at many big hotels in Mumbai (and Delhi). I very much like the environment at the hotel and felt comfortable. The elevators are readily available. The rooftop bar is very enticing. They did not card my 17-year old son fortunately. We drank soda and ate appetizers, and had friendly service, comfortable table and a great view. The bar atmosphere was relaxed and tamed, and not necessarily dressy. We were only in Mumbai for 48 hours and anytime we left the hotel we had a driver (either through the hotel or with our guide separate from the hotel). There did not seem to be much to walk around near the hotel. Yet, there is a great convenience store/gas station next door (2-minute) walk. The concierge never told us about that. You can get many good items there. The Phoenix Street Mall is a 5 minute drive or 12-minute walk, and was modern/nice. We did see slums out our room window. We ate at the hotel fine-dining restaurant (San Qi) and was awesome. The best meal we had our 8 days in India. We got the Indian-food multiple courses. The main course was absolutely awesome. Was not a ton of food but just the right amount.
This was my first trip to India, although a short stay, it was a memorable one. The food was delicious, the service impeccable and the view from the rooftop bar/lounge area was breathtaking. I highly recommend a cocktail (or five) at "Aer" to view the sunset.
