"Good, but very slow for food!"
The hotel is in a quaint part of DC and you feel relatively safe walking out and around. The check-in/out was fine, staff friendly enough and the room was good and clean. But I marked this place down because the food service was just too slow. Breakfasts in the morning when there were only a couple of guests was painfully slow. In the evening, again, too slow. The food however, was good...when it came. Reasonable bar with a good selection of decent ales. Would recommend, would certainly consider staying, but they really need to tighten up the food service.
"One of the great boutique hotels in Washington and located in the the very charming Georgetown part of Washington"
Georgetown Inn is a great boutique hotel located in the most charming part of Washington DC ; Georgetown . It is on the leading shopping street ; Wisconsin Avenue . It is a great place for shopping , having a great meal or a drink . The Georgetown University , the leading university in town is not far away and well worth a visit . The hotel has some 100 rooms in 3 old buildings joined into one some 50 years ago . Washington is a beautiful city and Georgetown Inn a great base for a visit .
We spent most of last week at the Georgetown Inn. I understand that renovations are underway; the bathroom was spacious and well designed, and I'm sure that the rest of the facelift will be great, too. It's not unusual for a property to undergo renovations, and we've certainly stayed plenty of places that have been in the process...or needed it. That's not unusual. What made the difference for us was the unfailingly cheerful, helpful and gracious attitude of your staff. From the front desk to the breakfast room...to housekeeping and the doormen...everyone seemed genuinely interested in making sure our stay was first rate. I wish I had taken the time to jot down some names, but please let your staff know that their approach to customer service is truly appreciated and completely makes up for any dings in the furniture or outdated carpet ;). And the AC was fabulous, woo hoo! A must for a DC summer. Oh, and breakfast in the Daily Grill was a great way to start the day; the food was excellent, and Derrick truly cares about his customers! Looking forward to seeing the renovations as they progress.
"Terrible handling of an overbooking situation"
A colleague of mine and myself had reserved two rooms at this hotel. When we arrived, we were told that there was only one a reservation for one room and, as we had reserved through an agency, we would have to call the agency to solve the situation. When we asked whether we could book the second room directly, we were told that was ompossible, as the hotel was sold out. When we asked whether they had made sure rhere was not another reservation, the lady in the front desk said, literally, "of course, we overbooked for tonight, and other guests will have the same problem" (sic). We then called the agency who, in turn, called the hotel. The agency confirmed that the hotel had made the mistake but also told them that "everything was ok now, as we had accepted to share the room between the two of us". Obviously, that was not the case. In summary, one lie after another. The hotel lied to us, the hotel lied to the agency, and least acceptable of all, they did nothing to solve our problem. Washington hotels were pretty packed that day and not only they left us stranded, but did not help us find an alternative hotel to stay in. Not even an apology for the inconvenience. And, of course, the manager was not reachable. I cannot think of worse customer service. Pathetic and unethical.
"Do you pay extra for Sleep'"
Our first trip to America was Miami, Washington, and ended in NYC. Initially we were happy with the accomodations but dissapponted at the view of the car park. After a long day of traveling and site seeing we were awoken by a nearby pub's rowdy late night party and had to play white noise on our mobile phone as we slept. The second nights party was much louder than the first as looked down from our hotel window as many young people sang very loudly and appeared to play loud beer games into the wee hours of the morning. We called the front desk at 2am to complain and nobody answered the phone! We were so exhaused from the lackof sleep we couldn't enjoy our next days site seeing properly. If we make it back to Washigton in the future we will not stay here nor reccomend others that value a good nights sleep to stay here.
