"I swear I saw Don Draper coming out of the elevator..."
The Georgetown Inn is a fairly priced hotel in the heart of Georgetown. Its a good spot for University events (such as Homecoming, Reunions, parent's weekend), shopping and eating in Georgetown or the waterfront. Being in Georgetown, there is no easy access to the metro. There is lots of wood panelling, the drapes are heavy, as are the dark paisley bed coverings. The bathrooms are small and older. You could imagine JFK having a tryst here. Yet, there is some charm. A fantastic promotion would be for a "Mad Men Weekend Getaway." When I entered the room, I looked for ashtrays. Wear the Brooks Brothers and London Fog, crank up Sinatra, Dave Brubeck, Peggy Lee, and Dusty Springfield and order an "Old Fashioned" at the bar. Perhaps they would allow e-cigarettes. I really don't mean that in a bad way. The hotel is clean and neat and well preserved. It has character- and that is better than alot of soul-less modern places I've been to. Ah, if the walls could talk... A good spot for a Georgetown based Washington trip.
"Nice location, spacey rooms, but nothing special"
The location is great - right in the middle of Georgetown. That's pretty much it, I guess... One more fun thing is the daily happy hour at the bar - it IS cheap. Food was not bad, by the way. Otherwise, good for one-two night stay. The bed was large and comfy. WiFi was slow. Nothing special.
"Nice Location, But Tired"
The Georgetown Inn is in need of a re-fit. The rooms are small and the bathrooms are closet-like. Carpets and wallpaper are old. That said the location is great and the bar/ restaurant is lively and pleasant enough. Staff give it a good try, but seem overworked. The hotel is not ideal for business travelers craving snappy service and the usual comforts, but ok for a weekend away in Georgetown/ D.C.
The Hotel is a good, reasonably priced Georgetown alternative. It is not a luxury hotel and while it is clean and has good restaurant service, it is in need of renovation. It appears that while some work has been done, it is not universal. We will continue to stay there as the front desk staff is always helpful.
"A Georgetown Classic"
The Georgetown Inn is a perfect choice for those needing to stay in the Georgetown area. The Inn is conveniently located to all sight seeing destinations especially in the Georgetown area. It is understated classic elegance - not seen too much anymore. The staff are friendly and professional. The rooms are clean and the amenities standard including a Keurig coffee maker. The location makes renting a car unnecessary.
