Stayed here the night before the marathon - really enjoyed it. Rooms are large and well appointed, the restaurant downstairs is very decent. I chose this hotel for it's specific location but would have been glad to have stayed longer.
"Boutique Hotel in excellent area"
Our 2nd visit to NYC and we decided to stay in a different area to our last visit. We stayed on 5th avenue last time and when we first booked the Gild Hall i was a little worried that it wouldn't match up to Langham Place. The price of Gild Hall is slightly cheaper and its down in the financial district and not right in amongst everything which for us we preferred. We were not disappointed with Gild Hall at all, in fact it was more personal, with welcoming staff that couldn't do enough for you, from the Welcome drink to umbrellas given to us on a night out. Fab location and close to the many subway routes. The rooms aren't huge but for the amount of time spent in them they were spacious enough and i loved the styling of them. We were that impressed with this gem of a hotel we have already booked to come back next year. Also there are a few lovely bars and restaurants close. South Street Seaport area is being renovated and there are bars/restaurants down there if you fancy a walk and Brooklyn bridge a short walk away also. All in all a fab boutique hotel in an excellent area x
"Good NYC hotel"
This hotel is well priced for New York if you want to stay in the Financial District. We wanted to stay near family who live near here but otherwise would recommend staying further uptown, with more nightlife etc. That being said, this hotel is great. Trendy, helpful staff, decent room size (for a New York hotel). The welcome champagne was a nice touch too! I would definitely recommend this hotel - or others from the Thompson chain (having stayed at another one of their hotels in Mexico). No complaints at all!
"An amazing night's sleep!"
We had originally booked to stay up in Midtown for our first trip to NYC but began to be put off by some of the reviews - large hotel, busy, service not great etc. As a result we went back to our tour operator and that's when we discovered Gild Hall was available as one of their alternate choices. Switching to the Gild Hall is the best decision we could have made. Our experience of the hotel was fantastic from start to finish - our only regret is probably that we made so little use of the hotel, we were up and out early each day and not back until late in the evening. The accommodation itself was great, we opted for a suite and were situated up on the 9th floor and we were blown away by the size of the room. The bed is the most comfortable I've ever experienced in any hotel - we both had wonderful nights' sleeps despite us both being notoriously light sleepers in "strange" beds. There was no traffic noise at all. The bathroom was excellent too. Don't assume (as we did initially) that you need to be in the thick of things by staying up in Midtown. We found getting around to be an absolute breeze - no more than 5 mins walk from the hotel to Fulton Street subway and no more than 15 mins or so on the frequent subway trains and you're up in Times Square. We can't speak for the restaurant, Felice, as we tended to eat out every day but it looked fantastic. I can't recommend the hotel enough.
"Great boutique hotel in Wall Street"
My wife and I stayed here on a Saturday night to celebrate our anniversary. The hotel has a small lobby with games (chess, checkers, tic tac toe) and books set out that you can enjoy. There is an Italian restaurant connected to the hotel that looks really nice, although we didn't get a chance to eat there. The room has great modern décor that my wife especially loved. The décor is so modern that you can even see through the bathroom door (just barely blurred). So if you are staying with someone else and like privacy while using the restroom then this may be a bit of a nuisance for you. Otherwise, there was nothing else we had to complain about the entire weekend at this great hotel. The most important thing to me is the bed and it was a very comfortable king size bed. The duvet was the perfect size... I'm picky about that and sometimes they are too thick and hot for me, but the one at Gild Hall is perfect so that we weren't getting too hot during the night. Overall, a fantastic place to stay and great price on the Saturday night that we stayed there as well!
