"Friendly and welcoming"
On my recent trip to Helsinki I stayed here at the Glo Hotel Art, and found it to be extremely friendly and welcoming. The room I had was spacious, clean, well provisioned and very comfortable. Located close to the City centre I was able to walk to all of my destinations. ...and I will definitely be using this hotel again!
"Beautiful Hotel on the outside, lobby, and common areas, but rooms were not like what is shown."
The common areas are just like what is shown in the photos. It is extremely beautiful and the staff was very friendly and helpful. My room on the other hand was very small, outdated, and looked nothing like any of the photos shown. I would have not booked the hotel if I knew my room was going to be such a miss. I was on the first floor and it looked like a completely different hotel when I walked into my room.
"Not suitable for business travellers"
Very nice Art Deco hotel with many original decoration features (at least in main building). Great location in the city's famous design district. Beds are of extraordinary good quality. However the hotel is not suitable for business travelers, at least not for those who need to work from their rooms. The rooms are simply too small to put work desks there. Bath "room" is more like a box. You can hang approximately 3 shirts or jackets, then you will run out of space (no cabinet). You have to be very creative to find space for your personal belongings in your room. I have never experienced anything like this before, especially considering the premium prices that the location obviously warrants. The icing on the cake: sauna is not available unless you reserve it in advance.
"Great location, comfortable bed"
I had a long day of travel and arrived after midnight so it was a delight to fall into the comfy bed with four soft pillows and down duvets. And the shower was fabulous too! What more could you possibly want in a hotel room' The location was great -- within walking distance of everything you'd want to go to. Hotel staff was most accommodating. One thing I initially had trouble with was turning on the lights. It was pitch dark when I arrived and I got into my room and none of the light switches would work. I made my way blindly over to the TV, turned it on, then found the phone, dialed the desk. Turns out you need to put your key in a slot (unlit and impossible to see in the dark) by the door. Once I did that all was well. I would suggest that staff let guests know about this. It is definitely a good way to save on energy and also to ensure you don't lose your key, but it helps to know beforehand. Another plus -- GREAT security! The breakfast was plentiful, fresh, and delicious. An outstanding hotel, all-round.
