"Lovely stay in Amsterdam"
Me and my boyfriend found this hotel whilst looking for places to stay in Amsterdam. It was fairly cheap and looked nice in the pictures. We booked a large Comfort Room with a double bed, for a small extra each night, I would highly recommend this room option as we had lots of room for our cases, belongings whilst still having a spacious room to relax in. Overall good for what we paid. Lovely bathroom with free toiletries, large mirror and nice shower. Free nespresso machine was a lovely touch and meant I was not rushing out to get a nice coffee in the morning! There is a tram stop just outside the hotel which is brilliant to use with the travel passes (purchased from the airport). We found instructions on the hotel's paper a little confusing but managed to work out the system pretty quickly ( I reccomend to download the GVB app to access timetables and journey plans for where you want to go whilst in Amsterdam.) I cannot comment on the breakfast, as we opted out of it as €15 seemed a little steep every morning. However you will not find anything much cheaper in the city. In hindsight the hotel's breakfast would be a good choice and saves having to travel in the morning (most places in the city serve breakfast until 11am). Our only complaint was that due to the storm going on whilst we were there, our air conditioning/heating system seemed to have broken, resulting in loud wind/howling noises right into our room and quite a large draft. The hotel helped as much as they could but didn't really stop until the weather was better. Do bare in mind the hotel does not serve alcoholic drinks, as a young couple we wanted to go out and drink during our stay. Although a little annoying that we couldn't have a few drinks a the hotel before heading out in the evening, it was not a massive issue. One night we decided to get the night bus back to the hotel. However we had to get one on the busses to the centraal station, and then, from the station, to a stop around 10-15 minute walk from the hotel. For this, I would reccomend Here Maps as it directed us straight to the hotel, when we had no clue where we were going! We fell in love with amsterdam during our stay and we have both said we will return to this hotel if we come again.
"Not the best location if going to city centre a lot"
Standard room wasn't available early so had to wait until after 2pm and check in took a while. Amsterdam Sloterdijk station is about 10-15 minutes away - make sure you exit the station where the tram sign is (in the south east corner), walk through the park and cut through the college buildings. You should see the large Golden Tulip sign when you get to the main road. Good: • Drink and snack machines in reception. • Heated bathroom, thermostat under sink. • Lidl located in the south about 5 minutes away so you can stock up on supplies. • Most toiletries replenished as expected. • Tram stop directly outside. • Usually hotel rooms are a rectangular shape with the bathroom placed within that rectangle however this one had the bathroom outside of it so the room is bigger than expected. Bad: • No bathtub, only shower. • Location too far from city centre if you're spending a lot of time there. Tram journey takes around 30+ minutes and can be tiring. • No fridge. • Pillows were like square cushions, not really for sleeping on. • Soap wasn't replenished however there is liquid soap available. • The safe was open and locked so you couldn't close the door and use without getting it reset by staff. • Twin beds pushed together to make it double.
"Not bad after all ...."
Its a nice hotel, very modern and quiet, the amenities are exactly as described in their page, big rooms and very clean bathrooms ... the breakfast offer wide range of options... the staff are ok but not that helpful, but the only problem of this hotel is the location .... although there is a tram pass next to the hotel ... but its a bit far from the center ,,,, and its not easily accessible ,,,,especially at night after the trams are off ... but after all ... its a nice hotel ... its a hotel chain known worldwide and offer a pack of good services ....
"average hotel in amsterdam"
No mini bar the system was out of order. One elevator was out of order. The electronic key was disconnected after the breakfast. the fabrics of the chairs and furniture was plastified. I would not recommend this hotel except for the food at the bar/restaurant which was nice, but no alchol not even a beer.....
"Nice looking hotel"
The exterior might be deceiving as once you go inside, the hotel is beautiful. Excellent rooms, very clean, heated tiles in the bathroom etc. The breakfast is also worth the price, big selection every morning. The WiFi is pretty fast as well. Restaurant in the hotel serves good food. There's a tram stop right in front of the hotel that can take you to city center in 15 minutes. A Lidl is close by if you want to buy some food and there's a good Italian restaurant just across the road. Note that this hotel does not serve alcohol anywhere on the property as they apparently lost their alcohol license.
