"We are on Copacabana Beach, prices are high and you get what you pay for."
Great location, good breakfast, friendly staff. The first room we were given was small and the toilet didn't flush, we were offered a choice of two other rooms both smaller than the one we were already in. We decided to stay where we were if the toilet could be fixed. The young man on reception then offered us another room on the twelfth floor. It was 100% better than the three other rooms we were offered. We had trouble with the safe, it wouldn't open, it took two maintenance men 30mins to fix it. The dining/breakfast room had a great view over Copacabana Beach. There is small bar attached to the small roof top pool and another one a street level both totally devoid of any atmosphere. The entire hotel could do with a make over or least a lick of paint on most of the woodwork around the hotel or even a good clean the cleanliness is somewhat lacking. The location is great, the beach just across the road and easy walk to Ipanema Beach, a $30 taxi ride to the centre of town. The hotel offered all services, free wifi, beach towels, a gym, bicycles, currency exchange, ATM, car service(expensive). We are on Copacabana Beach, prices are high and you get what you pay for. But I would have to think long and hard about going back to this hotel again.
"Great location and breakfast"
My friend and I enjoyed this hotel. The staff was very good, and I would give five stars except for one issue with an employee at the desk. She made a reservation at a show for us, but misquoted the price by $25 per ticket. When the employee at the show called the hotel, she denied it. Since both my friend and I heard the quoted price, I know it was not a mistake on our part. I would stay at this hotel again. Breakfast was delicious, and the mixed drinks at the pool bar were excellent and inexpensive. The pool is small but the views are fantastic. We were appreciative of the gym showers that we could use on our last day after checking out. I used the gym as well, not bad, but could use air conditioning. The hotel arranges car service, and has bicycles to rent at a reasonable rate. There is a protected bike lane parallel to Copacabana Beach, conveniently located across the street. We ate dinner at the hotel twice, and it was good. However, wine by the glass is ridiculously expensive, not worth ordering. There is a currency exchange available in the daytime. Sometimes they will give you small change for your larger Brazilian reals, if available. We appreciated Sue Ellen (Sue Ann')'s assistance with our questions. The rooms have space, a fridge, good close space and a safe.
We stayed here for 3 nights during Carnival and wouldn't stay here again. In any other city it would be a 3 star hotel at US$125. Yes it's on Copacabana Beach and the location is excellent but all the services are poor.
"Great location across from beach"
From what I could tell, there were only 2 other hotels that had staff on the beach for chair service besides this hotel. We were also given beach towels at the hotel. The rate was reasonable and the breakfast buffet was acceptable. The roof pool was a little larger than a bathtub (sorry for exaggeration but we were disappointed how small it was.) The staff was friendly and all spoke English. The car service the hotel provides is expensive, so we used Uber the whole time we were there. We felt safe, then again we were there during Paraolympics and there was a lot of security. Not sure if security is that well staffed the rest of the year. Bed was uncomfortable to me, however my husband didn't mind it. Lovely shower stall.
