"Boutique-like Customer Care"
The Gran Estanplaza is my first choice in Sao Paulo due to its great location and personalized attention. Although it is a large hotel, its customer care is more akin to a quality boutique hotel. Examples include a personal note in my room welcoming me back to the hotel; a personal welcome from the restaurant staff when I came to breakfast telling me they were glad to see me back again; a special treat in my room from the housekeeping staff reminding me to let them know if there is anything I need. The rooms are comfortable, modern and larger than average. One item I especially appreciate is that the exercise room is not in the basement but on the top floor with plenty of light and a nice view of the city. The only negative I've experienced is that the ventilation system in the room was tricky to determine if it was on or off (no indicator light) and the heat function was ineffective on the one cold day during my stay. The breakfast is abundant with plenty of fresh fruit, juice, baked goods, and hot entree selections. Finally, the in-room WiFi internet was fast and dependable...much better than the meagre internet service I find in most European hotels.
"Great hotel overall, minor issues"
A beautiful hotel with very nice furnishings, very classy, charming. Very helpful staff, most of the time. An absolutely wonderful breakfast experience (even live piano) which made up for the relatively small issues I had during my stay. Upon arrival at 8 am I was informed that my room would not be ready till about 11, which is not unusual in itself. Apparently the hotel was fully booked. I tried hard to get access to the room after a 24 hour long set of flights. While I was checking in, someone else was checking out but I was not offered his room. Instead, I was sent to the gym, and had to take a shower, open my luggage and change into a suit in a very small restroom area with a totally wet floor, shared with 5-10 other guys who had just used the gym. Hotels of this caliber should be more prepared to provide temporary assistance to overseas travelers, since they know that all international flights arrive in Brazil early morning. Otherwise, no issues for the rest of the stay.
"Hotel with charm, some rooms with balcony."
Stayed here and food the room to be spacious. The beds were twin beds in the room I had. The bathroom was small but it was functional. The bath tub shower requires a high step to get in and out. The shower worked very well and provided plenty of hot water. The disappointment was that there is no coffee machine. The restaurant breakfast is quite good and items are fresh.
"Excellent front desk staff"
I had visited this hotel three times in my business trips. It has an excellent front desk staff and very confortable rooms. The bed is excellent and the cleaning is very good. The buffet menu from the restaurant at midday needs to have more alternatives for a frecuent client.
"Fantastic front desk staff... Excellent hotel"
It was just a quick one night business stay and from the moment I arrived everything was effortless. The front desk staff were incredibly friendly and quickly got me checked in and to my room. The room was well appointed and clean. Upon returning from dinner I found a note wishing me a lovely week and some Brazilian cakes in my room - a lovely touch. Would highly recommend and I will certainly be staying here again.
