"Why did I take so long to find this beautiful hotel'!"
We stayed in this divine hotel in late January and I have missed it so much since my return that I am only now getting myself together to tell you about it! I have been lucky enough to enjoy some very fine hotels in my time and all I can say is that the Gran Bahia is one of the best hotels I have ever had the pleasure of staying in. From the moment we arrived the experience was 5 star, we were celebrating our engagement and were upgraded to a junior suite with a large balcony and stunning seaview and when we opened our door we were steps away from a beautiful pool garden area with the most comfortable sunbeds imaginable. The bathrooms are top class and worthy of the 5 star rating which is so often not the case and the housekeeping service was excellent. The hotel is located on the beach and has two pontoons, one with a glass restaurant serving excellent food and drinks and the other with cabanas that can be rented out for 4 hours at a time. They are both quite simply the most romantic places imagineable and we had to drag ourselves away! We can't wait to return and our planning our next visit as I write........ Thank you to all the wonderful staff!
"Great Place to Unwind"
I can only agree with the comments that everyone else has put about this lovely hotel. Great place to relax, most comfortable sunbeds I've encountered. Comfortable beds with wide pillow choice and powerful shower in well equipped bathroom. I reserved a wheelchair prior to my arrival for my mother which was very useful for trips into the town of Corralejo. The staff were all very helpful and friendly, wished we could have taken some of them home....... Drinks were very expensive but then I guess you would expect this in a 5star hotel. We had a pool/garden room as we wanted the winter sun on the balcony.
"Hotel to the rescue 😀"
We echo many of the positive comments made by other reviewers about this lovely hotel. The staff are very friendly, professional, nothing was too much trouble. Our room overlooked the pool (a lovely sun trap 🌞room 358) was well maintained, comfortable and cleaned to a good standard. Nice robes, pillow menu, toiletries, tea coffee, mini bar and restocked frequently The food quality was very good. We tried room service and again good quality, hot, good portions & fast service. This hotel sustains a high quality service throughout which you would expect for the price & 5star 👍 The hotel location is in a quiet area. The walk along the beach to the Main Street (20mins) is pleasant & you can watch the surfers 🏄, take in the coastal view or have a drink at a beach bar. The alternative route is a flat tree lined residential road with limited refreshment stops, until you reach the Main Street. There is a Dino express supermarket not far from the hotel - useful when one takes the wrong travel plug (doh!) but the hotel came to the rescue and loaned us one, just paid a small deposit & no problem 😀 Overall, we had a lovely 10 days being looked after, fizz with a great breakfast, a nice wine list with enjoyable dinner - and the occasional cocktail by the pool. Did not get time to use the spa, but other guests spoke very highly of it. This was our first visit and returned home chilled out and yes we would go back. Thank you to all the staff for making our stay lovely.
"One of the best holidays ever!"
This hotel is fabulous. After a few days here, you feel totally relaxed and refreshed. The location is stunning, the hotel has wonderful facilities- great outdoor pools in beautiful gardens and a spa which is second to none- the indoor pool is one of the nicest I've seen. All staff are well trained and extremely friendly and everywhere is spotlessly clean. The food is delicious. A huge buffet for breakfast and a similarly copious buffet selection in the evening for those on half board. As a vegetarian, there was also plenty of choice. Everything so fresh and well prepared. This will definitely be the first of many visits... Can't wait to go back!
"Definitely 5 star"
We rate this in the top 4 or 5 hotels we have stayed in over many years of worldwide travel. On arrival in the huge and elegant reception area guests are greeted with a glass of cava by charming staff, and escorted to the room by an informative gentleman in Canarian costume - similar to Bavarian/Alpine - felt hat, jacket, breeches, long white socks. However, no complimentary drinking water in the room which we usually get in hotels these days. A quick visit to the local supermarket was needed - one demerit point. The room, a de luxe double sea view on the third floor, was spacious , with colourful and tasteful decor, and good size balcony, early morning sun only. It pays to be fit to stay here. The hotel is about 350 yards from end to end, so if your room is at one of the extremes, you will do a lot of walking. Also, it's at least a 15 minute walk to the start of the town of Corralejo, and another 10 minutes to get to the port where there is a variety of bars, cafes and restaurants. However, it's a pleasant walk along the beach, but not so interesting going via the streets. The buffet room is enormous and the quality and variety of food excellent. It's the best breakfast buffet I have seen since The Lodge at Vail, many years ago. You can have eggs any style, freshly cooked to order, smoked salmon, proper ham, Bucks Fizz etc. The staff were friendly, observant, efficient and really well trained. There are 3 smallish a la carte restaurants, open on different nights, all worth a visit. A few minor maintenance matters in the bathroom, plus some ants, but overall you will not go far wrong in this impressive establishment.
