"A wonderful return visit to a fabulous resort"
This is the second time we have had a holiday at Bahia del Duque. Last year we were so impressed with the five star accommodation, the beauty of the whole resort, the food and the impeccable service we received. This year it was even better. Our room was outstanding, the service couldn't have been more professional and exacting, the food was incredible. We had such a perfect holiday and we hope to visit again very soon indeed.
"ups and downs"
firstly on balance a good holiday, but a little different ! We had a villa with a pool in a small garden with plenty of space, except the bedroom was tiny. we could see various cranes on local sites but the promised sea view was more difficult to achieve. The villas are a long way from the beach, maybe nearly a kilometre, and on a very steep slope to the beach and promenade. As such, the hotel provides buggies, but on many occasions we waited more than 30 minutes which was not a very good service. Quite a few people were very critical of this service. The drivers apologised, but for a very large hotel there were not enough of them. The gardens and buildings are kept in good condition, but it is quite a maze to walk round, with a bit of a resemblance to Disney land !! We found the staff very helpful and friendly, and mainly very efficient. The restaurants are to a good standard and for a hotel not too expensive, although getting charged for stale bread rolls was a bit odd..All the restaurants make this charge, albeit only one night were they inedible.Wine and drinks not too bad. The beach the other side of the promenade is public and the hotel does not provide sun beds or shades there. As such, one has to pay for these at 20 euros per day.It is a pleasant promenade for walking. The hotel is near to the airport so transfer is quick. So lots of good things, but a little different !!!
"Happy to have stayed again at el Duque"
We enjoyed again a vacation at our favourite hotel in Teneriffe. Happy to report, that the hotel continues to function at a very high level. We were specially impressed by the staff of the hotel (even throughout the entire resort, including restaurants and bars) - polite, very helpful, knowledgeable and always looking for the the guests. And even - as we experienced it - the already high level improved since our last stay. Also the faces remained familiar. The resort invests in well-thought changes and improvements but the spirit of the Duque is still the same. Even the rooms are refreshed (at least our room) and we felt at home again. All the 'administrative' matters were handled smoothless (reservation, check-in, check-out, bell boys etc.) and the breakfast buffet offers a excellent range in good quality. We will certainly return and are looking forward to our next stay at the Duque.
"Superb. Casas Ducales is so welcoming"
We stayed in sea view room at the Casas Ducales section of this property. From the moment we arrived - with the reception staff waiting on the steps for us and greeting us by name - to the moment we left the team could not have done more. The tranquillity of Casas Ducales in such a large property is particularly good and the little touches of the afternoon tea and evening tapas lovely. Normally we eat away from hotels but all of the restaurants here are top class. We did not make the fusion restaurant (and in 9 nights never went to the main buffet) but were spoiled for choice. Each restaurant is so individual too. the hotel is just across the walkway to the beach and the beach brassiere is a hotel property so you can charge meals and drinks to your room which negates the need for cash on the beach. This is a large estate on a hillside but golf buggies will transport you around so elderly guests need not worry about the size. We will certainly return.
"Good location, nice staff, bedrooms with garden view in need of refurbishment."
This hotel is definitely not for older couples as there is a lot of walking, particularly steep steps. We had difficulty in the first couple of days to get our bearings as to where everything was. Breakfasts were excellent once we found the restaurant. Entertainment was average. Our bedroom, which was a garden view on the 3rd floor, was disappointing. The balcony was so small it was not worth sitting out on. The bathroom was badly finished and in need of updating..
