"Whole village in one establishment"
We were upgraded in room 627 room with a sea view. Nice to be upgraded but in my book sea view is view from room and not from balcony. If you pay for the view do not take the corner room. Good service generally and good food. Exception was in La Brasserie where it was a mess. Unorganised and feeling like Kitchen from Hell(Gordon R). Eventually we were not charged of main course but personally I rather pay and be happy. Excellent place if you prefer all included. (not me)
"Great family break!!"
On arrival in the taxi the man at the front gate was aware that it was our second visit. The polite greeting we received set the welcoming tone for our stay. The junior suite was fantastic, had a great sea view and accommodated our family of four very comfortably. Being that this was our second visit our expectations were already set quite high and we were very pleased to have another lovely holiday. The staff are incredibly helpful, polite and welcoming. Sure these are the basics and what you expect in every hotel, but here it is genuine and in my mind consistent with a 5 star rating. Buffet restaurant is to a high standard and our boys loved it here as they were up helping themselves to whatever they wanted - even though perhaps one night the choice of ice cream in between starters and main course is not to everyone's taste, but then they are on holiday! Only downside is price of the drinks, but since when are drinks cheap in 5 star hotels. All in all, for a family week away, great location, food and service you can't really go wrong. Returning again in April for a short family break.
Generally the hotel is fantastic but our visit was somewhat tarnished by one young rude female member of staff on reception who on every occasion made everybody uncomfortable for asking about any information and was even rude to my 12 year old daughter for asking for a replacement room card ! Otherwise the hotel is very good but the rooms are only 3-4 star in my opinion
"Grand Bahia Del Duque, Costa Adeje"
Great hotel, staff very helpful and plenty off them. Accommodation spotless and checked at least twice a day. Food at the buffet restaurant was great, different theme every night and the breakfasts had a good variety to suit everyone.
"WARNING - MONEY WAS STOLEN FROM OUR ROOM."
First of all, this hotel is amazing overall. I have been approx. 10 times over a 15 year period and never had a problem. Staff are friendly and can't do enough for you, the hotel is clean and stunning and I have recommended it to numerous people over the years. However, my last stay (6th - 15th Feb 2017) was tarnished somewhat. For the first time, we had a safe in our room that was locked with a key, rather than a keypad. The key was huge and wouldn't fit into a clutch bag, so the odd time, we left it in our room, in a jacket pocket. Now it is worth saying the hotel clearly states to keep the key on you at all times, so we accept our full share of blame for this one. Anyway, we couldn't account for about 100 euros of money, which we thought we must have misplaced somewhere so we just ignored it. However, on our last full day, we went to the room at 2pm and counted our money as we wanted to get some cash to leave as tips for the bar staff around the pool as they had been wonderful so we knew exactly how much was there. The next day, we got everything out the safe and I realised about £60 was missing from my purse and I did question what I could possibly have done with it as I only used my card at the airport. Anyway, we came to count our euros and 100 was missing and, realised about £110 in sterling had gone and 180 euros had been taken from the safe over the course of the week. Had we not counted it earlier, we wouldn't have realised. They only had a 2.5 hour window the day before and the hotel was able to pinpoint 2 members of staff going in during this time as they used a machine to read which cards had been used. We'd have called the police but our taxi was coming in 40 minutes so there was little we could do. We reported it to the general manager, who claims the investigation will take time. We have accepted the money is gone and that we are partly responsible for this. However, previously I have left items of value out, including money and nothing like this has ever happened so they obviously have a rotten egg in their midst. To go looking for the key and then go into the safe is beyond me, I wouldn't have expected anything like this to happen in a hotel of this quality. The hotel is wonderful, and 99% of the staff are amazing but I felt like it was important to let people know to a) never leave a key anywhere, which is difficult as it is about the size of a key used in the 20th century. b) when booking, clearly ask for safe with a keypad on! I'm still waiting to hear from the hotel on the outcome as they clearly have a thief amongst staff members. It was the first time I had taken my mum to the hotel and I have horrible feeling this is what she will remember, instead of the wonderful experience she'd had up until the day we left.
