Overall ok. AC old and broke down. Ester was raining in my room. Towels were not placed in RR. Wifi not available in breakfast area. Fantastic Spa and beds are confertable. The bfast buffet is very good.
Had to pay for WI/FI in the room (which by the way VERY SLOW). Alsu use of the GYM was not included in the room-price. Outdated rooms. Bad experience with lobby-bar staff. Although had left my CC-info @ reception when I checked-in, they told me I had EXCEEDED my limit by couple of BSF which quite embarrassing (in presence of guests I had invited for a drink) how they communicated that when I wanted to sign the bill.
"Good location, great food and excellent massage"
Very safe next to a big mall, lots of coffee shops and metro. Although I look like a gringo, I walked during the day around alone and took the metro without problems. They want you to pay for gym. You can buy everything in Caracas, but not for subsidized prizes. I was very surprised about the offer of food and other goods in shops.
"Some very good things and some less good ones"
Members of personnel as the reception desk, with a few exceptions, speak only Spanish and are not especially friendly; it is also quite annoying to have to request several times the same thing before something actually happens. We had a basic room that was already of very-good quality. Cleaning personnel is friendly, works super well and is helpful. Facilities like the outdoors swimming pool looks a bit old and would need reconditioning. Working personnel there is really friendly and helpful. Indoors spa is OK but likewise would need reconditioning. Restaurant is globally OK; for breakfast, please arrive early as there will not be anything left otherwise. Dinner is very much OK (we only made use of the buffet). The working personnel there is globally friendly and helpful. Not really safe to walk outside the hotel since, at the time of writing this review, Caracas (and Venezuela in general) is in the top-three of the most dangerous places in the world. Shopping centres are OK in general but no one in the shops since no one has money for buying stuff. Basic necessities are hard, if not impossible, to find like razors, toothpaste, deodorant, ... Be extremely careful at all times, possible make use of a bodyguard.
This is definitely a nice hotel in a busy area, the room was good, higher floors are better, they have a cute bar at the lobby, I had the option for priority check in for my Melia rewards membership. And el recreo mall is almost part of the hotel, is good for shopping without leaving the hotel. We'll back.
