"Grand Daddy Hotel"
My wife booked this neat little hotel and we enjoyed it throughout our stay. It's right on Long Street so you have access to everything. From eateries to nightlife etc. The service personnel at the hotel were very nice and even took us to a forex where we exchanged some money. Please remember to try their breakfasts at the Thirty Ate on the ground floor. They don't have a lot options on the menu but it's definitely tasty!
"Highly recommended Capetown downtown hotel"
Grand Daddy is located in the touristy heart of Capetown within easy walking distance to restaurants, bars, etc. The hop on-hop off bus people were across the street, yet it is still fairly quiet. Front desk service was amazing, restaurant service was great, breakfast was free up to 75 rand per person which buys a good continental or fruit/yoghurt/granola breakfast with coffee and juice. The room was spacious, clean, modern with a bar fridge for snacks, drinks, etc. Air conditioning the first night was either frigid or off/stuffy but that was resolved with apologies. Concierge provides reliable taxis - the waterfront (ferry to Robben Island) and the cable car to Table Mountain are not far. Not sure what else to ask for.
"Rooftop Airstream Trailers - AWESOME!!"
We spend a night in the Winelands Airstream trailer on the rooftop of the Grand Daddy Hotel. Winelands is the biggest of the 7 rooftop trailers, and it was absolutely amazing. Had everything one could want, coffee/tea, hairdryer, safe, inside and outside seating, etc. A really fun way to stay in the heart of Cape Town. There is also a rooftop bar and they make pretty good cocktails. From the moment we arrived, service was absolutely faultless. All the staff were super helpful, efficient and friendly. The décor is different and quirky and so much fun. A beautifully, restored, old building and the vintage elevator is the oldest operational elevator in Cape Town. Absolutely loved it and will definitely be back. Can highly recommend if you are looking for something fun and different in the centre of Cape Town.
"Sleeping in an Airstream!!"
I'd booked this as a fun surprise on our first night in Cape Town. Sadly our first night didn't get off to a great start as we chose to get the Shosholoza Meyl train down from Johannesburg and instead of arriving after 3pm we got in just before 10pm and didn't get to the hotel until 10.45pm so we had little time to enjoy our stay in the Karoo trailer. What time we did have though was pretty good. Slept excellently (possibly as the night before was on the train) but the duvet and bed quality was excellent. The shower was a bit tight but that's to be expected. There was room enough inside and we had no problems. The location is great, right in the heart of town on Long Street. Great fun and can definitely recommend
"Amazing place to stay!"
We spent the final three night of a three week honeymoon trip in South Africa in one of the Airsreams on the roof of the Grand Daddy Hotel. From the minute we arrived, the staff couldn't do enough for us. They organised taxis here there and everywhere, trips to the townships and all with a great attitude. They even allowed us to park in their private car park for a couple of hours when a relative came to visit and we couldn't find space on the road. The Airstream rooms are a fantastic concept and we stayed in Winelands, which is the largest one. Again, on the rooftop the bar staff were attentive and always helpful. I'd absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Cape Towm.
