"Very considerable staff"
We arrived from Paris vis TGV and we need to take the local subway to the Vieux Port station. It takes less than 10 minutes from the Metro station to the hotel. Difficult for us to find the hotel when we arrived Marseille on a special day. The match day for England and Russia. Full of bottles and broken pieces of glasses on the street. Our room is a port-view room with a small terrace, nice and tidy, with a nice view to the old port. Special thanks to the hotel staff. When we want to get out from the hotel, the hotel staff stopped us and told us not to go out. Around 5-10 minutes later, one of the hotel staffs lead us in person to the Metro station. The police lead us down to the station afterwards. There are lots of restaurant nearby and there is a bus stop for local tour just downstairs (towards the old port side).
"NIce location but definitely not a four star hotel"
The situation is great, in the middle of the vieux port. We had a regular double room, very small room and almost no light as the window is small and on the back side of the hotel. Our friends got a room with view of the harbor, this one was much nicer, a lot bigger and more light. The breakfast was ok if you managed to be there early enough. First morning we had to wait for a table and almsot everything was missing on the buffet.Next morning we got a table but the buffet looked empty again, no plates....so the breakfast is average at least during the weekends. And the big surprise, after having an incredible nice evening out we couldnt come back into the hotel. The doors was closed, we rang the bell for almost 20 minutes before someone come (we tried even to call the phonenumber on our reservation)....this is not 4 star service.....
"Nice hotel, BAD SERVICE"
This hotel is looking wonderfull inside. Great views on the harbour. Clean rooms. Breakfast is fine, not the best I have seen. No fresh orange juice for example. The service is terrible. We booked two suites with a balcony. The website stated that per rooms, four adults can sleep there. It appeared that that was not true, there is a kingsizebed and some kind of small "camping" bed under the sofa. It was not a bed you expect to sleep in when you book a 4 starthotelroom. I mailed the hotel when I booked that I needed one of the two suits with single beds. The lady at the desk said they could not do anything about it. It was unacceptable to let my familymember which is 70 years old sleep in a bed like that. The receptioniste did not really care. Was not thinking in sollutions either. Did not let me speak. Unbelievable that this hotel has this kind of staff. She even told me I can have a refund and book somewhere else in Marseille(!). In the end: I had to book another room in thus hotel in order to have an extra normal bed. I have never saw this before, and we slept in many Sofitels before. Last but not least: i could not speak to the manager according to that lady, since he was on holliday..(!).
"Wow - what a view!"
We were lucky enough to get a room overlooking the Marseille harbor and what a spectacular view it was! This hotel has great views of the harbor, the giant wheel and all the waterside activities. There are lots of restaurants along the harbor that are only a 5 minute walk away and the shopping precinct is also very close by. It's a pity the shops are not opened on Sunday but we chose that day to visit the fort, harbor area and City Hall. The train station was a bit dodgy and my partner was being scoped by some undesirables so had to face them on his way up the escalator to stop them from grabbing his backpack. Just look after your things if you are walking around there because they know how to pick the vulnerable ones. We had some great food here and there is a lot of choice so look around for the right place. Would recommend this hotel.
"Great great stay"
Highly recommended. Hotel is very near the metro stop. A minute walk. Outside the hotel, there are markets which sell local stuffs, souvenirs, magnets, macaroons, etc. It's also centrally located and close to many eateries including the hard rock cafe. We got the room with a view facing the port. Great view. Breakfast was also really good with a wide selection. Those interested in Pokemons will also find lots of good catches around. The other attractions example the forts are also within walking distance. Highly recommended. Great hotel staff deserving mention includes Frederick and Milolo.
