This is the type of hotel that we like: big enough to offer good services, yet small enough to keep the typical family atmosphere that one find in small places. The Grand Hotel Beauvau is a perfectly located small hotel, and they dont pretend to be bigger than they are. They believe in quality of service, and that is clear from reception to room service, including breakfast, bar, valet, etc. Every time we entered the hotel, we have been welcomed with a nice smile, same for breakfast, or even the cleaning ladies on the room levels. Breakfast has a good variety of good things, even some typical local products are available on a lovely table underneath a tree. The buffet is very well looked after, so dont worry if the eggs plate is empty, it will be refilled in a minute. The ladies at breakfast are all eager to help us, and their nespresso coffee is excellent. The hotel wants to remain a "local" hotel, and everything they do seems aligned with this: room decoration, breakfast items, even Marseille t-shirts worn by reception employees. You have to try the "Marseillottes", a cocoa powder covered nougat sweet with a touch of anise, that you can taste at reception - super typical from Marseille, and super delicious. Everyone I know who tried those loved them. The view from the bar and from the breakfast room is superb. You have to take a beer at the bar during sunset, in February, the view was stunning. I wish more hotels were like this. We felt we were their guests, even part of their family. Too bad our trip came to an end. Of course, everything was not perfect. When we arrived, the reception people were a bit busy, and we felt as if we had arrived at the wrong moment. Also in our room, the shower door was not very wide, and the only seat in the room was a stool, not perfect for working on laptop, but probably a good choice considering the small room size. Note that our room was oriented towards the center court, so we did not have much of a view, but the place was perfectly silent, so we slept exceptionally well. In all, the Grand Hotel Beauvau will definitely be my choice again when I return to Marseille. I'd like to thank their exceptional employees for making this hotel what it is.
"Great location "
The hotel is well equipped, clean and in a good location. You are close to restaurants, bars and transport as well as the old port. While the hotel is good it just didn't click for us and we cannnot identify why but would still recomend it based on location and the staff who were attentive and helpful.
I guess "good location" depends where you want to be!' This is 50 metres from the heart of Marseille - harbour, restaurants, buses and shops. Renovated recently and now has one of the best small bars overlooking the harbour. Nice wine by the glass. Rooms decent size, clean, quiet. Good buffet breakfast. All staff polite friendly and helpful. Not too expensive either. Good value.
"Good location and comfortable rooms"
The hotel is at the heat of the Old Port, convenient for public transport and the main sights. Very comfortable rooms and a nice bar with great views of the port. The staff were very helpful , recommended for a short break.
