"Perfect location, attentive staff"
This grand dame of Toulouse hotels, a former monastery is perfectly located on the Capitole square in the heart of all the action and steps from Opera House. Service was superb. The room was clean, efficient but not very spacious. the appointments in the public spaces were lovely and harked back to a bygone era of luxury. the only offering for breakfast was an overpriced buffet but there were many delightful cafes steps from the entrance. We did eat in the Bistro L'Opera and enjoyed a delicious meal at a very reasonable price. WE would definitely stay here again if we were back in Toulouse.
"Charming and Convenient"
Located in the Place du Capitole, this hotel is central and convenient to many restaurants and sites in Toulouse. This is an older property that has been refurbished to much of its old glory. However it does have some quirks which are caused by the structure. For example, when you take the elevator and exit at your floor, you probably will need to walk up or down a short flight of stairs to actually get to the level of your room. The rooms were beautifully decorated, the bathrooms were modern and the housekeeping was excellent. Truly a comfortable place to stay. Restaurants in the area are plentiful and excellent. We went to the Michelin starred Jardin de l'opera which is directly across from the entrance to the hotel and it lived up to its star rating. Our only complaint was the wait for our rooms to be ready. That can only be blamed on the popularity of the hotel and how booked up it was. For that we can't blame the hotel ... it's an indicator of the hotel's popularity. We will be back.
"Lovely view from our windows"
The Grand Hotel de l'Opera was lovely. Only one night in Toulouse and staying in this hotel was not enough. The staff were friendly and helpful. Arriving early in the morning, unfortunately we were not able to get into our room as soon as we would have liked, however as we were departing EARLY in the morning the staff upgraded us to a room on a lower level so that we would be able to get out early with out help from staff. The view from our room was looking out over the square and it was spectacular. No noise...lovely large room. Would return to this hotel!
"Beautiful hotel in the heart of a magnificent city"
We had a 3 night stay at Hotel de L'Opera and had the most wonderful short break. The hotel was very easy to find after a short transfer from the airport via tram and underground. This was great fun and we felt like we were on a little adventure and for only 1.60 euros. The city is breathtaking and we walked for miles around the narrow streets that are just outside the door of the hotel. The shops are absolutely fantastic and provide the most avid shopper with a huge selection of goods. The boat trip on the River Garonne was a highlight of the holiday and the little land train that has a starting point on Capitole Square is excellent for getting your bearings and seeing most of the outskirts of the City. Would highly recommend this trip.
The hotel itself was very nice and luxurious with a great location. My room however wasn't great. I think they may have given me a lower end room because I paid a much lower daily rate by booking through Trip Advisor. My room was in a different tower seperate from the hotel, up 3 flights of a windy staircase without an elevator. There was a loud generator noise that would come on intermittently throughout the night waking me up. I couldn't get the water in the bath to move from the bath tub spout to the shower head. I had to call the front desk and they had someone come up with a wrench and fix it. The toilet paper holder wasnt screwed in and wasn't fit for the fixture so I couldn't screw it in myself and it fell onto the ground every time I got close to it. My coworker stayed in the same hotel in the main building and had a much better experience.
