"Beware of restaurant"
Lovely city, pleasant hotel, delightful staff, but don't use the restaurant. We were charged E250, £200, for 1 Gravalax, 12 Snails, 2 lamb shanks (warm having been sent up whilst we were still eating first course), I bottle Pommard and 1 coffee and sat at a table next to the service door, constant use, to what seemed to be some flats. We moved to the alley entance to the hotel for coffee. So far 3 emails questioning cost un-responded to.
The women at the front desk were terrific. Helpful, friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was surprisingly good (although we were the only ones there). Our room was large and rather forbidding. No view at all. No electrical outlets near the bed. Flimsy plastic glasses in the bathroom (like in a cheap motel). No turn down service. We went to get a drink at the bar. There were cocktail menus at the table, and the bar appeared fully stocked. When we asked for a cocktail, the bartender said they didn't serve cocktails. No apology, no explanation. However, my husband had left his jacket in the room, and the hotel called us to inform us, and then shipped it to our next destination. And despite the difficulty finding the hotel by car, it is in a great location. So overall a mixed experience.
"grand it is"
We enjoyed our stay here very much, once we found the parking. Be warned if you drive that your gps may get very confused. We went in circles many times before we finally went into a parking garage by accident and they gave us a map and directions. Once we were there everything was lovely and the welcome drink certainly calmed our nerves. There was a festival in the square when we were there but our room was quiet. We had a terrace overlooking the restaurant.
"excellent location, has 'grandeur'"
I only spent one night at the hotel, unfortunately! My room was beautiful and extremely quiet. courteous check in and check out, courteous valet and good introduction to room facilities. would love to go back and stay a few more days.
"Perfect Location; Very Pleasant Hotel"
My husband and I stayed here for two nights on a recent driving trip through Southwest France. We had originally booked an additional night as we had planned to arrive at 9am and wanted to be able to occupy the room immediately. Because of the Air France strike, we had to take the train and arrived instead about 4:30 pm. We had alerted the hotel prior to our departure from the States and they were completely understanding, canceling our reservation with no penalty. I should say, as well, that the front desk had been most accommodating helping us to book restaurant reservations prior to our arrival. The front desk was warm and welcoming. Our yellow room was on the back of the hotel as we had requested...we wanted a quiet room more than the view. It was a good size and spotlessly clean; the mattress was extraordinarily comfortable. The decor was traditional and conservative...not edgy in any way. Breakfast was quite good with more variety than we had anticipated. As everyone has noted, the location is the hotel's crowning glory...right on the Place du Capitol...close to most sights and convenient to many restaurants. We recommend this hotel without reservation and we will certainly stay again should we get back to Toulouse. Contrary to some reviews, it is not within walking distance from the train station.
