"Great hotel, great location"
On Capitole square, just 5 minutes from Victor Hugo market. Lovely old(ish) style hotel with a great interior and very helpful staff. Nice little bar downstairs for some end of evening cocktails. Stayed in the Crowne Plaza last time, I'll be staying here again next time.
"Very nice and attentive staff, great location, comfortable place"
Lovely, old-fashioned style hotel, with great staff, ambling lobby with lots of sitting rooms and salons. Our room was dark (small window and lights weren't bright enough), but completely clean and comfortable. Good breakfast spread (not cheap, though). Can't beat the location. We'd recommend it and go back, but maybe try to get a brighter room.
"A classic hotel in a great location, but with some issues"
There's a lot to like about this hotel. The location is unbeatable, right on Toulouse's Place du Capitole. The hotel has an elegant, historic feel to it, and the staff were good, and spoke good English. But I had a few niggles. They couldn't provide a UK plug adaptor on request. My room (despite being one of the more expensive types) had one of the smallest baths I've ever used, making it difficult to avoid slopping water all over the bathroom floor. And I was irritated to be automatically charged for breakfast every day, even though I'd only eaten breakfast in the hotel once (these charges were of course removed when I questioned them). I might well use this hotel again next time I'm in Toulouse. But equally, I might experiment with one of the other options.
"Grand Hotel de l'Opera, Toulouse"
Excellent location with most historical sites within and easy walk. The staff was excellent and very friendly who all spoke excellent English. The hotel is a little worn but that adds to the authentic feel of the place. The room was small but clean and the bathroom likewise. Altogether an very enjoyable stay and I recommend it without hesitation.
...with excellent service! Up a passage way off the main square. Polite speedy reception by most helpful team! Our room, typically French was beautifully quiet with an enormous bed. Well appointed marble bathroom with dated over bath shower. Grab rail required on the wall! Good bar area with friendly efficient service. Unfortunately it suffered from a regular modern malaise....one afternoon it was totally monopolised for hours by a Spanish business trio spread out over two settees and two tables with papers and the ubiquitous mobile phones and laptops and trailing recharge leads. All for the price of two bottles of Perrier and a Coke. Not sure how hotels curb this obnoxious trend but the nettle needs grasping! The hotel breakfast is perfectly adequate efficiently by administered by nice local ladies. The staff definitely make the difference with a very good command of English. Long gone are the days in French hotels when they neither cared or possessed the ability to speak a foreign language. The trouble one lady receptionist made to find us transport to the airport in the face of a total taxi strike was exemplary. Another strike planned for Thur 2rd April....beware!! If we return to Toulouse we'd definitely stay at this hotel again!
