Grand Hotel Et Des Palmes is an old hotel in grand style, in the center of Palermo. It was renovated some time ago, so it could use some maintenance The rooms are comfortable, the breakfast is excellent. Personel is polite and helpful.
"Atmospheric hotel with 'grand style' albeit with a somewhat faded glory impression"
Well located to visit sites, close to many restaurants. The rooms on the ground floor give the impression of past opulence and are used for meetings etc.The hotel served a good choice of breakfast in what seems to be a past ballroom with mirrors and chandeliers. It was clean and tidy and staff pleasant but parking was expensive with valet service. The bedrooms were large and the beds very comfortable. We asked for a walk in shower and got one .
"Faded glory is just the thing"
This is a wonderful hotel. Imagine breakfast in a ballroom with huge chandeliers and you begin to get the picture. It is full of character and charm. The location is excellent, too. Near restaurants. cafes, shopping. A straight road to the station. Alas, someone decided to carpet the entire place--public rooms and guest rooms--with the same, pale if hard wearing carpet. It must have begun to show the dirt within weeks. It is pretty bad and rather lets down the over all fairy tale delight of the place. Even so it was terrific and would happily return.
The hotel is located perfectly in the city, I actually love historic hotels. However, the stained and soiled hallway carpets left a very poor impression. The staff were very professional and helpful. We enjoyed the city and concierge recommendations, and the Limo tour was enjoyable and well done. Thanks Jim Kelly
Great location, good sized room and good bathroom. lovely breakfast in old ballroom. Large hotel, but slightly "faded". No proper bar or lounge, just a corner of the huge draughty entrance hall. Value for money.
