This hotel is rather an average place than a 5* hotel, rooms deserve reconstruction. Location was good - walking distance from the centre and right next to the railway station. Our room was quiet as per our request. Serving good breakfasts in a nice hotel restaurant. Parking was changed by €22 per day.
"Fantastic staff make it special"
We were bussed here from the airport when our plane broke down prior to returning to the UK after a skiing holiday to Obergurgl and what a lovely place to be stranded. Even though we were we probably not in the best humour being delayed overnight, the staff at the reception desk and in the restaurant went out of our way to make our stay as pleasurable as they could. The restaurant is adorable, I love the decor with the candlelight burnishing all the random silverware on the walls to give a warm, elegant feel. The breakfast was exceptional with freshly squeezed juices to order as well as the usual, egg dishes, all manner of fruit, breads, conserves, cold meats and cheeses. The rooms which I believe have been recently modernised, have a retro 60's feel, are spacious and well equipped though I was surprised by the unbranded toiletries. The bathroom was lovely though I would have like a heated towel rail and the bedding was excellent but the bed was really hard - which some people may like but I didn't sleep well and that's the only reason I give the hotel a 4/5 star rating We really enjoyed walking around Innsbruck Old Town - such a beautiful city.
"Super Staff more thank make up the hotel's wear/tear"
The building itself is showing its age, and the accommodations might be a bit subpar (for a five star hotel) - but the front desk staff and the bartenders were so kind and helpful. The front desk was full of recommendations and helped us plan a day trip to Italy - with great suggestions for both travel and dining. And the bartenders treated us like regulars from day one, and were always willing to fix us "one for the road" (nightcap for the room). And if you are traveling by train, I cannot think of a more convenient location.
"Great staff, nice rooms..."
Lukas on the front desk and Michael the bellhop were both great - very polite and helpful. Rooms were very atmospheric and interesting- antiques, wood panelling etc. Breakfast excellent. Only issue would be that the hotel's right opposite the train station which, whilst convenient, isn't the prettiest part of town.
"Lovely Stay in Innsbruck..."
This is quite a late review as we stayed at Grand Hotel Europa in November last year. But even so, still decided to write one as we had a lovely stay here. Whenever my husband and I travel, I always look for a hotel which is close to public transport, within easy accessibility to the attractions, and of course, within our budget. 'Didn't have much difficulty finding one for our stay in Innsbruck as Grand Hotel Europa fitted all my criteria. It is just across the main train station, just a few minutes walk to the local attractions, and their rates are quite reasonable. It was also convenient for us to visit Swarovski Crystal World in Wattens as the shuttle departs from the train station and back. Hotel staff were also friendly and helpful. Highly recommended!
