"Timeless Elegence and old world service"
My daughter and I stayed at this hotel for four days and three nights. We joked that it felt like we were on a honeymoon because the hotel is so elegant and romantic. However what makes this hotel seem like it is from another era is the level of service. It was beyond anything I have ever experienced. We ate on the rooftop restaurant with the most amazing view of the water. The head waiter was in a tux and treated us like royalty. There are no words to describe it. He remembered us at breakfast each day. We went to different places for lunch but returned to the rooftop for dinner every night bc we could not find anything that could come close in terms of the view, the service and the food. There is also a lovely garden terracce where we read books. They have fresh lemon trees that create a halo effect. It is heavenly. They also provided us with the greatest driver ever. He was the utmost professional who walked us into the train terminal with our bags and made sure we got on the train. He also narrated the entire drive to Naples. He was amazing.
The hotel itself is gorgeous and probably the cleanest hotel I ever stayed at. The style is elegant with gorgeous gardens. I can't imagine how beautiful it must be in summer. The room was quite large and we had a beautiful balcony with a partial sea view. The location is within walking distance to all major sights in Sorrento. We took a day ferry to Capri with a boat tour around the island. Even in winter this was gorgeous. The only complaint was the breakfast was just ok. On both days we had to wait for eggs to be placed out and they were not of the best quality. Other than that, it was excellent.
In late November 2016 I went on a 4 day trip to Sorrento with my fiancée and wanted to share with others the fantastic time we had. After researching the hotel before I booked, I decided that Grand Hotel la Favorita sounded a good choice so booked through Lastminute.com. I emailed the hotel in advance of our stay because the booking details said a twin or double room had been booked and I did not want a twin room (for obvious reasons on a romantic weekend)! I also asked whether it would be possible to have a room upgrade and a bottle of Prosecco waiting in the room as it was a special trip for us. I was delighted to receive a reply from the hotel with news that we would have a complimentary upgrade to a DeLux room and a complimentary bottle of Prosecco. Having taken the 7.15 am flight from Stansted to Naples, we arrived at the hotel earlier than the 2pm earliest check in time, but this was no problem for the hotel reception staff, who were friendly and welcoming. We were shown to our room, a huge, wonderfully traditional room with a balcony and sea view. Our Prosecco was waiting and in near 20 degrees and clear sunshine in late November, we sat on the balcony sipping out of our champagne flutes and wondering if we were in a dream. The hotel is ideally placed in Sorrento for the city centre, the Marina for trips to Capri and the other magical islands not far from the mainland and although it was November and very quiet, there were still enough staff on duty at all times, both in reception and in the restaurant. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice of both cooked food, cold meats and cheeses, breads and pastries and there was a dedicated station where eggs, omelettes or pancakes were fried to order. Although the normal coffee served was weak and lacked flavour, the waiters were happy to get us a double espresso and hot milk to make sure we got our caffeine fix! Nothing in the hotel was too much trouble. We found both the bed and pillows a little too hard so we raised this at reception. By the time we got back to our room after several hours in the town, the housekeepers had put softer pillows and a mattress topper on the bed which alleviated the sore backs we suffered on the first night. We ate only once in the restaurant and were the only customers there at the time, so Luigi cooked the steak in front of our table. Although expensive, it was worth it. All in all, staying at Grand Hotel la Favorita exceeded our already high expectations and helped make this a truly unforgettable trip, and I highly recommend a stay here.
I have never written a review for anything before but having just returned from this hotel felt I had to! We have had the best 4 night stay-hotel was great, staff lovely and helpful, beautifully clean and the best breakfast ever! Would go again at the drop of a hat!!
This was our second stay in this lovely hotel, and we are hoping to visit again next year! The staff is always warm, welcoming and efficient. Our room (for 3 adults) was spacious and well-appointed, and the tiled floor beautiful. Our balcony had a view of a park and the Bay of Naples. And the bathroom!! A jetted tub big enough to bathe a whale and gorgeous tile-work everywhere! The pool was closed for the season, but we were able to sit on the roof terrace and admire the view. The gardens, while not large, are beautifully designed and planted to make the most of the space. As for food - the breakfast buffet, with maitre'd Luigi in charge, was a feast for the eys and well as the stomach. I truly hope to make a return visit in 2017!
