"Exceptional for centeral Paris"
Normally there are a few "trimmings" to expect when booking accommodation in the city center, however Grand Hotel Saint Michel has once again exceeded my expectations starting from the reception with highly competent and profession yet friends staff. I look forward to visiting again in the near future.
"Pretty good for central Paris"
This hotel is well located near the Notre Damme and is pretty good by central Paris hotels. The rooms are comfortable and the bed was one of the best beds I have had in a hotel. The bathroom is good with plenty of hot water. Rooms are well maintained. The only issue I has was that the wifi was a bit slow. My colleagues had a street facing room and complained about the room. I had a courtyard facing room and it was very quiet. A very good breakfast is served. Our early morning checkout was quite slow and the check in only marginally better.
"Feeling young and well in the middle of the Quartier Latin"
We are visiting Paris almost once every year since 1961! And normally we never stayed twice in the same Hotel. But in 2015 we found this nice Grand Hotel St Michel near the Sorbonne and are happy with the choice. We stayed again this year (2016) and we'll come again. The location is close to: the metro/RER stations Cluny/Sorbonne, Luxembourg and St Michel as well as to bus stations; several attractive bistros and restaurants, all kind of shops, cinemas, market places. A lot of attractions in walking distance: Parc de Luxembourg, Notre Dame, Pantheon, Seine, bouquinistes, Rue Moufftard etc, The Hotel staff is friendly and helpful, good service day and night. A plentiful breakfast buffet. The rooms are small (that's normal in Paris) but clean and with all the necessary equipment. We only missed tea and coffee facilities. We never had such a huge TV screen in a hotel room. That was great, especially during the Olympic Games 2016.
This hotel is in a good location in the Latin Quarter, but not extremely close to the Metro. It is clean, well kept, with fairly large rooms. We found the staff was helpful but not always correct in giving us information. I would rather have a person say they do not know than to send us to the wrong Metro station, forget the inform us that the museum that we asked directions to that day was closed that day after they looked on the website and give us bad information in getting to Versailles. We left Paris and came back to Paris after a couple of days and decided not to stay here another time.
"Great Neighbourhood, beautiful part of Paris"
My husband and I stayed here in for 3 nights in May this year. Our room was well appointed, not a huge room, but this is Paris. Service was provided by friendly, helpful staff. We loved staying in this beautiful part of Paris. In Saint-Michel district there are many restaurants, we loved the Luxembourg gardens which are close by. We travelled on the metro train from Saint-Michel, and Luxembourg train service is close by too, which is handy for travelling to main stations and airport. We loved the neighbourhood, and would have no hesitation in staying again. So much to enjoy in Paris and we found the people of Paris to be warm and friendly. There is a lovely cafe on the main road going towards the Seine, opposite side of road not far from hotel, they provide lovely coffee and croissants. Could have stayed longer at this hotel & have been told that Saint Michel is considered one of the nicer areas in Paris.
