"Very disappointing "
While some rooms at the Hyatt in Cannes may be nice, my room and that of my colleague was very poor. Everything was worn out, dated and dirty. There is no effort on the part of the hotel to provide the kind of service one is paying for. Everything is dingy and dark -- even the elevator entrance has no functioning lights. I don't understand how Hyatt allows such a poor quality hotel to use the Hyatt brand name. I will avoid all Hyatt's if this is acceptable the the company. Very disappointing. Sent from my iPhone
"Great service, but hotel could use a renovation "
The service at the Grand Hyatt in Cannes was absolutely excellent, as one can expect from any Hyatt location. From the reception to housekeeping to concierge to valet to the restaurant, every person we came across was professional, courteous, and personable. The team is doing an absolutely fantastic job and can be proud of their quality customer service. We were checked in by Cedric, who was friendly, professional, and gave a great first impression of our hotel. Unfortunately, the facilities at the hotel do not match the high quality of their service, and those who are used to frequenting various Hyatt hotels might be slightly disappointed. The hotel is in need of renovation, and although the hotel is large, and indeed grand, it also sometimes seems a little outdated and old-fashioned. Our room was a Deluxe King with a nice view of the ocean, and it was very spacious and nicely furnished with sofa, armchairs and coffee table. However, you could notice some slight damage in the walls, and there were no outlets or light switches near the bed, which is a modern convenience that has come to be expected from luxury hotels. In addition, the only entrance to the pool is through the restaurant/bar, which is a little awkward for those who want to enjoy a swim without walking past dining patrons. Prices for food and rooms are on par with what you can expect from Cannes (namely, expensive). The location is fantastic- right across from the beach and on the Croisette. The food was ok (quality of coffee could be improved. I wouldn't even mind paying 10€ on vacation for a cappuccino if it's excellent). It would also have been nice to have coffee and tea in the rooms. As parents traveling with a little one, I was also happy with how child-friendly the staff was. They gave us a little gift bag with toys and balloons, and they invited our son for a delicious dessert at their restaurant. I was impressed how they went above and beyond to welcome us and our child. I do hope a renovation is in the works in the near future for this hotel, and generally I would still recommend it. To the excellent staff- please keep up the great work.
"Not a 5 star hotel"
I just stayed at the Martinez for MipJunior conference. The conference was at this hotel. Firstly the room really needs renovation. I had room 265 and the room is musty smelling and the carpet clearly is very old and needs cleaning or replacement. I arrived late and realized that there was no hot water in my room. A technician come and fixed it but it took some time to get it working again. I had some bites on my neck and I felt itchy the whole time there. My guess is there is some bed bug issue or some dust mites. Clearly not a 5 star hotel. I'm surprised Hyatt doesn't put some money into renovating.
"Treated like royalty at this Grand Dame of Cannes hotels"
The staff is superlative from arrival to departure and understands personalized luxury treatment. Special kudos to the concierge team for many helpful tips during our stay. The bathroom was very lovely with marble, robes and slippers. I can't wait for a return visit.
"Lovely old French hotel with great views of the sea "
This hotel has got some real history behind it. Great location right opposite the beach, try and get an ocean facing room. Good sized rooms with French windows opening out with a great view. Very helpful staff and great food. The spa is well worth a visit with very professional assistants, although it's quite expensive.
