"Nicely updated, excellent location"
The Grand Hyatt in San Francisco has been nicely updated, to what is already a prime location next to Union Square shopping district in San Francisco. Walking distance from a variety of shops and restaurants and nearby transportation options across the city.
"Grand Experience "
About five days prior to arrival, I received a kind email from the great experience manager of the Grand Hyatt (Andrew Kim), anticipating our arrival and asking if there was anything we needed in advance. In my response, I mentioned that we would be arriving at 12:30 pm from a long flight from the East Coast and if he could note a request for early check in for our two adjoining rooms if possible, and to provide a list of GF restaurants in the area. Within 24 hours, I received a response from Mr Kim telling me he would do his best to accommodate our early check in and a second email from Anne Sullivan, a concierge at the hotel, with GF restaurant suggestions. Very impressive start -- and we had not yet arrived. From the moment my family arrived, we were greeted warmly by the valet, bellhops and front desk. Steve checked us in and was incredibly nice. Our rooms were in fact ready for us ahead of scheduled check in time. And when Steve learned that we had a birthday celebration, the hotel sent wine and strawberries with chocolate sauce to our room. Our rooms were tastefully appointed, clean and well lit with super comfortable beds. The hotel lobby had a warm beautiful design and modern decor with fireplaces and tvs. It's location was ideal to many tourist attractions and great shopping (to which we did not avail ourselves). The concierges were helpful with restaurant suggestions and driving instructions. I would definitely return to this hotel, largely because of the exceptional service we received during our two night stay. My only one complaint was the steep overnight parking fee.
"Low standard hotel."
The hotel wasn't at the standard level of service and value. Even though the hotel was renovated recently but the quality of materials used to renovate was cheap. Very expensive for nothing. No value for money. Not recommended.
"Great Place to stay in San Fran"
This was my first time in San Francisco and when travelling, Hyatt properties are one of the properties I try to stay. This Hyatt property is a great oasis while in San Francisco, first and foremost is the location. The hotel is right downtown and therefore near the shopping areas. This is particularly convenient on days when it rains. In addition, you are close to the cable cars to Fishermans Wharf, Market Street, short cab ride to Castro, and Chinatown is a 10 minute walk. It doesn't matter how great the location is if there isn't an exquisite staff to man the property. Every employee that I encountered at this hotel was wonderful but I need to call out the manager of the guest lounge on the 32nd floor. This gentleman is an asset, he is charming, well knowledge and knows customer service. The lounge was overflowing on weekend I was here but he gave individualized attention to everyone. In addition the lounge is well appointed and comfortable. The evening cocktails and hordeuvres was almost like a meal, the continental breakfast was more of a full breakfast. If you need to get a workout in while here then the Gym will not disappoint you, though small it is jam filled with all the equipment one needs, including a Smith Machine. If running is on your schedule then the hills here will really give you a workout and running along the wharf will visually stimulate you as well. All in all this is a great property for the price.
Stayed here for 1 week in November with Family. I booked the 1 bedroom suite with adjoining room, turning it into a 2 bedroom suite with 3 bathrooms. The suite had lots of space, well appointed and had beautiful view of the city. Really enjoyed our welcome amenity in the suite of Cheese Board and Craft Beers. Used the Grand Club lounge daily. It has good spread of food for breakfast and afternoon snacks. The views from the Grand Club are also amazing, overlooking the harbor. Enjoyed the location, right at union square which made for easy travel around the city.
