You can pay a fee and get higher speed WiFi - large bathroom - a large and great shower, one of the best I have used in a hotel - the restaurants of the hotel are very good - friendly service - highly recommended
"Great hotel is Pudong Shanghai"
My family of four (two adults, two kids between 8 and 11) had a two-week trip to China in April 2017 and stayed at seven different 4+ star hotels in Shanghai, Suzhou, Hangzhou and Chengdu and Grand Kempinski Hotel Shanghai was one of them. Among these 7 hotels, we rank this hotel the top place unanimously. The location of this hotel is convenient, walking distance to subway, aquarium, oriental pearl tower and many restaurants. The staff is very polite and helpful, the room is clean comfortable and beautiful, the wifi is good and fast. However, if your destinations are on the west side of the Huangpu River, better find a hotel on the other side. If you need to go to Pudong international airport, subway+maglev is probably a better time and cost efficient way than taxi. We would recommend this hotel and will return if we visit Shanghai again in the future.
"Very Good Hotel but could be better"
The grand Kempinski is a very good hotel and in a very good location. It is about one block away from the Oriental Pearl and the Shanghai aquarium. The hotel it's self is very grand and very nicely lit up during the evening with blue lights. The staff is very accommodating, and very willing to help you out. However keep in mind this is China. Nothing is very easy. For the taxi it would take about 15 minutes to have them call us a taxi and for a taxi to arrive. This is not the fault of the hotel staff, but just the logistics with in the country. Uber is not much of an option, although Uber has recently been bought by another Chinese company so maybe getting a taxi will be coming easier in the future. The rooms are nice. However they are aging. You can tell that the hotel is trying to maintain the quality of the rooms however they really do need a refurbishment. I was disappointed to see that the carpet has some stains on it and it was just not quite up to the expectation of such a wonderful hotel brand. If you are visiting Shanghai for business, I do recommend this hotel. It's location is great and the value for the room and location is very very good. Keep in mind there are other luxury hotels nearby, such as the Shangri-La, the Ritz Carlton and the Four Seasons. The hotel has an executive lounge, where they serve breakfast in the morning and they have afternoon tea and then some late drinks in the evening. The executive lounge offers a meeting room for a private meetings and internet spaces.
We had a business event (B2B forum and dinner) at Kempinski. Overall experience is great: service, location, staff, decoration and food, exactly what one'd expect from a prime 5 star hotel. I'd like to emphasize the excellent dinner, especially the meat course which was by far the best I've had. Special credits to the chef and his team, for their wonderful attitude and professionalism. Their efforts made the night unforgettable! Choosing Kempinski was definitely a win, looking forward to be back soon!
Everyting is perpect, tasty food, great location, nice staff, especially lady in red Ariel. It is a a quite good experience to stay here few nights. I think it is a pretty worth choice. I think I'll come back again.
